Plasticine craft – great way keep the child busy. The hedgehog is a cute animal and easy to sculpt. Add a handful of seeds instead of thorns and you get a “cartoon” character. Creating simple figures develops attention, imagination and perseverance. When a child gets overly playful, it’s time to engage him in creativity.
Advice: if a child is capricious and does not want to make things, you can use a trick.
Say, for example, that dad’s work announced a competition for the best plasticine hedgehog. The winner will receive a reward (chocolate, movie ticket, toy). Variants of the figure can be completely different, both easy and complex in execution. The baby will definitely be busy for 20-30 minutes. The main thing is to calm down and concentrate on completing the “important” task.
There are several options for making a hedgehog from plasticine and seeds:
A hedgehog made from plasticine and seeds is a craft for children 3-7 years old, so it is better to choose soft material.
Special kits are sold in craft stores:
- "Soft";
- "Baby";
- "Wax";
- “Extra – soft”;
- "For paintings."
Multi-colored modeling dough is suitable; it is plastic and does not stick to your hands.
If you have a regular one, then soften it by heating:
- place on the battery for 10 minutes;
- place in a sealed bag in warm (not hot!) water for 5 minutes;
- Before sculpting, knead the piece well with your hands.
How to make plasticine in 5 minutes with your own hands

Hedgehogs from seeds:
Let's introduce the child to such a cute and amazing animal - the hedgehog. It is better not to pick it up, because it has sharp spines on its back. When danger arises, the hedgehog curls into a ball, due to which we cannot see its face. And the animal has a beautiful muzzle, where there is an elongated nose, small eyes and a mouth with teeth for eating small insects. The legs, although short, help the hedgehog quickly move through the forest.
Required materials
To create a hedgehog, we use plasticine, from which we will get a three-dimensional figurine of the animal.
Required materials:
- plasticine white, yellow and black;
- black half beads and beads;
- plastic stack.
Stages of sculpting a hedgehog
1. Cut off most of the yellow plasticine with a stack, because the body and head will be made from it. Knead the material and create a ball. Transform the shape into an oval and extend the left side a little, creating a sharp tip. In the future this will be the nose.
2. We continue to shape the hedgehog’s muzzle to get a beautiful nose and places for the eyes.
3. We extend the lower part of the figure to four different sides and form short legs from them.
4. We create eyes from black half-beads, and from plastic ball- nose. You can, if desired, replace such parts with plasticine ones. For this we use black plasticine.
5. Now we pinch off many pieces of black plasticine and roll them out in our fingers to get tiny balls.
6. Pull out one end of each ball and get one needle on the back of the hedgehog. We create the first row of prickly fur near the muzzle.

PHOTO step by step - How to make a hedgehog from plasticine
First, let's take some gray mass and give it an oval shape, and then attach a long pointed nose. Carefully smooth out any existing unevenness.
Using a stack, we form the shape of the mouth, not forgetting to give it a wide smile.
Take a shade of orange and use it to cover the back of the hedgehog’s head with a thin layer.
Also from orange color We’ll make a lot of thin blanks that will play the role of needles on the top of the hedgehog’s head. Carefully attach the needles to the orange part of the head. You can attach the needles in different directions, the main thing is to get a funny hairstyle sticking out in all directions.
Let's put the head aside and prepare the blanks for the rest of the body of the cartoon hedgehog. For this we will also use gray. Don’t forget to make finger-shaped cuts on the animal’s front and hind legs, and also give them the appropriate curved shape.
We connect all the parts of the body together and make a stump from brown plasticine on which the hedgehog will sit. We decorate the tip of the hedgehog's nose with a small black ball.
Next, we are faced with quite painstaking work, namely, sculpting a beautiful daisy - an attribute without which it is impossible to imagine the cartoon “The Hedgehog and the Little Bear.” Make the stem of the chamomile black, the center yellow, and the petals white.
All that remains is to attach the daisy to one of the hands. We made a hedgehog with our own hands.

If your child really likes to sculpt various animals from plasticine, then invite him to sculpt a hedgehog from plasticine. The kid will be very happy to add a new craft to his plasticine collection. But first, read the instructions below, which show each stage of sculpting a hedgehog. In the process of creating needles, your child may need your help.
To sculpt a hedgehog, prepare the following tools and basic material:
- a set of children's plasticine;
- small scissors;
- plastic knife and stacks;
- toothpick.
How to make a hedgehog from plasticine
Step 1. First we create the face of the hedgehog, for which we will need a light brown shade of plasticine. To get this tone of the mass, mix two balls - brown and white. Knead them thoroughly with your fingers so that the streaks disappear. Then roll a small piece of the resulting mass into a ball. Next, we shape the ball into a cone shape. The face preparation is ready.
Step 2. From brown or dark brown we sculpt the body of the animal. Roll one block into a ball, and then flatten it to make a uniform oval.
Step 3. Now we connect the two created parts together.
Step 4. We decorate the junction of the body and head with flat drop-shaped parts made of brown plasticine.
Step 5. Then from the light brown tone of the mass we mold a couple of round ears. Using a toothpick, fix them on the hedgehog’s head. We fill the area between the ears with flat needle blanks.
Step 6. We begin to form the needles on the back of the animal. For this we need small scissors. Using the tip of scissors, cut the plasticine surface. Use the tip of a toothpick to press down the middle of the cut needles. We will also make as shallow cuts as possible on the front needles near the hedgehog’s head.
Step 7. Use a stack with a ball at the end to press two holes for the eyes. In the middle of the holes we fix black balls-eyes. We also attach a mini nose to the tip of the muzzle. Using the tip of a plastic knife or cutting glass, cut through the mouth and folds on the nose.
