How to make a gaming steering wheel for your phone from corrugated cardboard with your own hands! DIY candy steering wheel: master class with photos and videos Cardboard steering wheel template on PC.
We all love holidays - big or small, general or professional. In fact, they bring sparks of joy and care into our everyday lives. Caring for loved ones, when we want to please them, even if this most pleasant thing is just a symbolic gift.
For my men on February 23, I almost impromptu, as they say, “in a hurry,” made a steering wheel out of candy. And you know, despite the rush, the surprise was a success and pleased my sweet tooth.
I will share with you my process on how to make a steering wheel out of candy with your own hands. And at the end of the article I will give several videos with master classes on making symbolic gifts from paper for men - fathers, sons, husbands, grandfathers, brothers. Moreover, you can give them for absolutely any holiday - on February 23, for a birthday, or another day memorable for you.
How to make a steering wheel out of candy
My impromptu version of making a gift from candy required a minimum of preparation and a minimum of materials from me:
- actual candy (300-500 grams)
- sheet of thick cardboard (from the box)
- foil
- two feathers of chenille wire
- hot glue
- pencil
- scissors or utility knife
I drew two circles right on a piece of cardboard - a large one and a smaller one, using... pot lids of different sizes. Inside the resulting circle I drew the details inherent in the steering wheel of a car. I cut out the whole thing with a stationery knife and this is the layout I got:
Now, the most interesting part: I glued the candies using hot glue.
And finally, I made a symbolic Mercedes sign from chenille wire twisted in half and glued it in the center.
It all took no more than 30 minutes, and half a day of sweet pleasure

I hope I have inspired you to make your men a heartfelt, symbolic gift with the warmth of your hands...
Dear men!
Happy holiday to you! Peace in the country and family! Kindness and love, good health, prosperity and all the most beautiful things! Thank you for having us!

Candy steering wheel on a stand
Today on tutdizain.com there is a master class on creating a steering wheel from candies on an extension, which can become an excellent souvenir for men of all ages, both for February 23 and for another celebration. It can be presented to the driver on the day he receives his license.
To create a candy steering wheel you will need:
Foam plastic (to create a base), you can also use several layers of cardboard + something to create volume;
Printed auto icon;
Black crepe paper and ribbon;
Scissors, glue gun;
Wooden skewers.
Candy steering wheel on a stand step by step:
Cut out the base for the steering wheel from polystyrene foam (and try to make it the correct shape and as even as possible) (Fig. 1). Then wrap it with paper tape and black crepe paper (Figure 2).
Glue the candies around the perimeter (preliminarily place the candies on the steering wheel to determine the gluing interval and how many of them will fit). Cut out a pre-printed car icon (in this case, “Porsche”) (Figure 3).
After creating the steering wheel, make a stand for it. To do this, cut out a square from polystyrene foam, with an area slightly smaller than the steering wheel (Fig. 4). And wrap it in black crepe paper (Figure 5).
Heat the base at an angle with skewers (Fig. 8). With this action (by determining the angle of inclination), you will set the position of the steering wheel on the stand. Secure the skewers with glue at the base and at the fulcrum point (Fig. 9).
You will need toothpicks to secure the steering wheel at the base. To do this, use -12 toothpicks and heat the foam stand through the steering wheel all the way to the very bottom of the base (Fig. 10).
After securing the steering wheel, the skewers need to be given an aesthetic appearance. You can wrap it in a circle with black tape (Fig. 11). You can also glue a car icon to the completed support (Figure 12)
Finally, take a red satin ribbon about 5 mm wide and glue it in a circle (Fig. 13).
The candy steering wheel on the stand is ready!

If you opened this article, then you know exactly why you need a ship’s steering wheel made of cardboard. Let us guess: your child asks to play pirates and make a ship, you are preparing for a themed party or photo shoot, you need to decorate a children's room, or you are just bored and decided to get creative and have not come up with anything better? Any occasion is a great opportunity to show your talents, attentiveness, perseverance and just have a good time.
How to make a ship's "rudder" using a template
It’s easier to make a ship’s helm from cardboard with a template yourself, so we’ve selected several different options:
You can choose a slightly simpler option, for example, this one:
You can try drawing your own template. Consider the density of the material and the sharpness of the scissors so that the “rudder” of the ship can be easily cut out and it will turn out neat.
Manufacturing without a template
You can take the simplest route. So, for work we need:
- thick cardboard;
- wooden skewers;
- scissors;
- pencil;
- glue;
- threads;
- paints.
First you need to draw two circles and cut them out. Inside each circle, you need to cut out another circle so that you get cardboard rims, as in the photo:
The size of the headbands should be the size you want the future product to be. Next, you need to cut out several small round pieces that will serve as the center.
The ends of the beams need to be sharpened so that they resemble the beams of a real steering wheel.
The place where the ray will touch the main rim also needs to be sharpened a little so that the ray fits well. Well, then let’s start assembling the product:
Cover the top with another cardboard circle and secure it well with glue. Next you need to do the same with the outer rim:
To make the edge of the steering wheel as neat as possible, you need to sand it with fine-grained sandpaper.
Next, you need to wind a thread around the ends of the rays to give them volume. Now all that remains is to decorate the product with paints and you can decorate the room or play. Such a steering wheel can also become part of the composition and act as a cart wheel:
Steering wheel for decorating a nursery
The children's room looks good in a marine style. To do this, you will need all kinds of marine attributes - ropes, shells, lifebuoys, ships and a steering wheel. This is what we will create as decoration. We need to cut out a template from the base material, cut the white rope into equal pieces and glue it to the cardboard using PVA.
You can make several of these products and decorate a bed or front door.
Cardboard steering wheel for a photo shoot
If you are preparing for a thematic photo shoot and the theme is the sea and everything connected with it, then you can prepare a helm for this event. Use thick 3-ply white material and one of our templates. It is better to cut out such a wheel using a sharp stationery knife so that the product turns out neat. In theory it should look something like this:
How to make an anchor and steering wheel
Another marine-themed attribute is an anchor; it can also be made from thick cardboard and then painted or decorated with paper. For the anchor, you will also need a template or pattern, which you can draw yourself or print a ready-made one:

Working with children, you and I constantly come up with something, making new ones, updating old ones attributes for different games, for various events. We do all this to make it interesting and comfortable for our children to be in kindergarten while their parents are working. Everyone knows that the equipment of our kindergartens leaves much to be desired. “Our hands are not for boredom”, so we take easily accessible materials into our hands and start working. I want to offer you master- class on making steering wheels. Such steering wheel can be used in role-playing games, active ones. Can be used in theatrical activities and so on.
To work we need:
Thick cardboard,
Textile (cut up a used sweater) and a piece of felt
Scissors,
Glue "Titan".
We cut the fabric into long strips 2-3 centimeters wide. Cut out a “signal” from felt:
Take a steering wheel blank cut from thick cardboard (I cut it with a construction knife) and start pasting on both sides circle:
When one strip ends, we attach the next one. Apply glue on both sides blanks:
We glue the “signal” and our the steering wheel is ready:
We are like this steering wheel needed for entertainment according to the traffic rules “Traffic lights are a friend on the road”:
You can cover it with fabric several times. Then the steering wheel will be bigger.
It is generally accepted that a gift made with your own hands will be the most pleasant and desirable. After all, in the process of making a handmade gift, a person puts a piece of his warmth and love into this gift. In addition, such a gift will be unique in every sense; such an item cannot be purchased in a store. A do-it-yourself candy steering wheel made in MK can become a very original and pleasant souvenir for your brother, husband or dad for any celebration. We invite you to find out how easy it is to make such a sweet gift for a loved one with your own hands.
How to make a steering wheel from candies with your own hands: detailed description and recommendations
We offer for study and repetition a detailed master class with step-by-step instructions on how to make a souvenir steering wheel with your own hands. First you need to prepare all the required materials and tools for making a souvenir accessory:
- Sheets of thick cardboard (you can use a cardboard box);
- PVA glue and hot glue gun;
- Foam rubber or synthetic winterizer;
- Multi-colored foil;
- Sharp scissors;
- Simple pencil;
- Approximately 800 grams or kilograms of sweet candies in a wrapper.
First you need to decide on the shape of the steering wheel and the brand of car you want to reproduce. You can make a steering wheel of absolutely any shape, for example it could be a steering wheel from an Audi car. Once you decide on the shape of your steering wheel, you can draw it yourself on thick cardboard or print it on a printer and transfer it to paper. After transferring the steering wheel template onto the cardboard, use sharp scissors to carefully cut out your frame blank. You can also draw a car brand logo yourself. If you don’t know how to draw well, then use special car stickers or printouts from the Internet.
For this craft, you must use thick cardboard, otherwise your gift steering wheel will bend and the candies may fall off the structure. Cardboard material from a box of household appliances or special construction cardboard will do. If you don’t have such material, you can glue together a template from pieces of ordinary cardboard. If you plan to shape a large steering wheel, then a compass will not be enough to outline it. Take a thick needle and thread a strong thread into its eye. Tie a simple pencil to the other end of the thread. Pay attention to the fact that the length of your thread is the radius of the future circle of the steering wheel. This is why you must determine the thread distance yourself. Place and press the needle well on a piece of cardboard - this will be the center of your circle. Pull the thread a little with a pencil and draw a circle. Then cut it out using scissors.
You can draw the remaining details yourself without a compass and cut them out with a stationery knife. Now you know how to cut cardboard correctly to make a candy steering wheel quickly and easily with your own hands. If your cardboard is very thin, then draw and cut out two paper blanks for the design at once.
The next step will be the process of wrapping the cardboard blank with a layer of foam rubber or padding polyester. This step will add some volume and softness to your original candy steering wheel. Fix the soft layer with PVA glue. Leave the entire structure to dry completely.
Now start decorating your gift for your family and friends. First, use hot glue to attach a layer of multi-colored foil to the structure. This little detail will make your gift more festive and elegant in appearance. Now start gluing the candy onto the steering wheel. Use a hot glue gun for this step to better secure the sweet addition. Drip the glue very carefully so as not to melt or damage the candies.
If you wish, you can decorate the opposite side of the steering wheel with sweet candies. However, you should also not forget that it is necessary to fix the candies very firmly with reliable glue. You can also add several beads or rhinestones to the design to give the souvenir an even more festive appearance. After all the steps described, you have an original sweet gift for someone close to you.
Such a gift will delight the birthday boy and will remind him of a pleasant event.
