How to make a pendant with your own hands, master class. DIY pendants - how to make a simple and elegant decoration at home Epoxy resin pendant
Nowadays, it is becoming increasingly popular to do your own handicrafts. This is not surprising, since in stores it is often difficult to find the options that you want for yourself, but they can be made if you have imagination and accuracy. For example, you can make accessories in the form of pendants. Let's consider several ways.
Original from the newspaper
The materials that will be required to make a simple and unusual pendant are as follows:
- Newspaper.
- Glue and scissor.
- Wooden skewer.
- A napkin or piece of paper with a picture that will be visible on the decoration.
- , putty.
- and a little cotton wool.
- Coffee.
- Pencil.
Once you have decided on the materials to use, you can proceed directly to making the accessory yourself:
- Cut a lot of strips from newspaper (it needs to be laid out, then folded and cut on the fold; the resulting pieces are folded and cut again along the fold). Next, you need to roll the tubes and secure them to the edge using glue.
- When about ten tubes are ready, you can begin with the first stage of making the medallion. Take one and squeeze it so that the surface is flat. Glue is applied to it and rolled into a spiral. When the part is completely rolled up, glue the second one and twist the spiral again. This element will be the basis for the product.
- For the loop on which the chain is hung, another tube strip is glued. Place a pen or pencil under it, then glue the tube in a circle to the base. The main thing is to remove the pencil in time so that it does not remain glued.
- To ensure an even and durable coating, it is recommended to coat it with putty in several layers (each of them must dry).
- Print the picture on paper - it will be visible on the decoration. For a stylish and original design, it is aged using a coffee drink for this purpose. You need to make strong coffee and apply it with a brush. If the image is not in color, color it with watercolor pencils or add color in another way, since even a bright picture will become faded when it is aged with coffee.
- Cut out the image slightly larger than the final product. Remember, it is easier to remove unnecessary details than to add what is missing. Apply glue to the paper and attach it to the pendant, removing any excess pieces around the edge. You can simply tear them off; a little carelessness often looks original.
- Cover the back of the medallion with the remaining drink, and then apply varnish over the entire surface to fix it.
This master class allows you to make a combined pendant from leather or beads. For example, newspaper material can be replaced with pieces of leather. They are used to form a decoration, then embroidered with beads. The main condition is the presence of imagination and a creative approach, suitable raw materials, and different models can be made.
Accessory with stone
For production you will need:
- Tight thread.
- Small stone.
- Chain.
- Glue gun.
You may also need pliers to secure the parts.
The pendant execution process is as follows:
- First, wrap a thin wire around the stone.
- Make a loop on top.
- Roll the pebble approximately in half.
- Attach the loop as firmly as possible.
- Secure it with pliers.
If it seems that making beautiful jewelry on your own is difficult, in reality everything is different. Wonderful pendants are made from ordinary objects and improvised means, which can become a surprise for friends. Such ideas help you make a lot of beautiful decorations without spending a lot of money on them.

The female half of humanity, at least most of it, loves jewelry. This is typical for ladies of any age; everyone wants to look attractive. A pendant on a chain will help to gracefully highlight the curves of your neck. Nowadays, many people are interested in handicrafts, creating jewelry for sale, as a gift, or for their own use. How difficult is it to make pendants with your own hands? Let's look at a few of the available options.
What are pendants made of?
Any woman can afford to wear such jewelry, which is why the variety of these accessories is amazing in the variety of shapes, sizes, colors and materials. What do you use to create your own pendants? There are many options: plastic, wood, paper, leather, feathers, fur, fabric, stones, metal, beads. The first pendants were made from fish vertebrae, beautiful shells, pieces of amber and even fresh flowers. Nowadays, modernity dictates its own trends, and on the necks of girls you can even see jewelry in the form of a computer motherboard or a floppy disk. The imagination of those who make pendants with their own hands is truly limitless, which makes each of them an individual and original decoration.
Making a heart pendant
We can say that heart-shaped pendants are the most popular; almost every girl has such jewelry. Moreover, they are easy to make even for a novice creator. The easiest way to make a heart pendant with your own hands is to weave it from beads or wire. This accessory will be a wonderful gift for Valentine's Day or any other holiday. To create such a bead decoration, you will need the beads themselves of different colors and sizes, a fishing line and a ring on which the chain will be attached. You can weave a simple red heart, a futuristic gold or silver one, the pattern can easily be found in a beading magazine. If you want to experiment, take a piece of felt and embroider a heart on it. You can fill the entire inner part, and not just the edging, sew or glue beads of different sizes, artificial pearls, Swarovski rhinestones. Let all the elements match each other in color; the combination of gold, yellow and white looks very beautiful. At the end of the embroidery, cut out the heart and carefully glue the cardboard behind it to hold the shape. Place a leather layer on top of the cardboard, stitch around the perimeter - and the pendant is ready.
Weaving wire jewelry
Do-it-yourself pendants are made not only from beads. A fairly common option is a wire pendant. Those jewelry that are sold in stores are made of gold or silver plated, but copper or aluminum is suitable for home creativity. Pendants of various shapes are made from wire. Thin wire is easier to work with for a beginner, and the combination of thick and thin metal thread will add zest to your creation. To work with this material, you will need wire cutters, solder and often complemented with stones, beads, pearls or wooden elements.
Stone pendants
You can also make pendants with stones, not necessarily precious ones, with your own hands. The easiest way is to find an unusual pebble on the seashore (or ask friends to bring it from vacation), make a hole in it and hang it on a chain. If you are not satisfied with this option, then use beading patterns that include
Covering (edging) a stone with beads is called a cabochon, and this is a fairly popular way of making jewelry. The cut can be made metallic using the same wire: let the flight of imagination, the combination of different shapes, the connection of opposites be a priority, without limiting you to standard patterns.
How to make a pendant with your own hands from plastic
Homemade sorceresses use a fairly pliable material for their masterpieces, from which you can mold anything, like plasticine. Then it will harden and keep its shape. To make pendants with your own hands from plastic, you will need:
- polymer clay of the required colors (or white and acrylic paint);
- thick polyethylene film;
- pin (the pendant is attached to it);
- glossy varnish;
- glue "Supermoment";
- rolling pin;
- sharp knife,
- stationery knife,
- textured stack (for example, a bundle of wire or toothpicks, a knitting needle);
- pliers.
You need to work on a prepared, flat surface; it is advisable to use disposable rubber gloves so as not to leave fingerprints on the product. The manufacturing process is similar to rolling, cutting, fastening different parts. You can make either one pendant or a set with earrings. Shape and color are your choice. To harden, the clay is placed in the oven for a certain time (according to the instructions sold along with the material).
Don’t let the question of how to make a pendant with your own hands face you. Just decide what kind of jewelry will decorate your neck and go ahead and try different options.
In this master class I will teach you how to make an exquisite and unusual copper pendant with your own hands. This master class is the second part of the previous master class, where we learned to create from copper and Czech glass. Here, from the blank, which can be obtained by completing the master class described above, we will create a beautiful and elegant pendant. As in the previous master class, the “twisting wire” technique is also used here.
Wire pendant
To get started we will need:
- round nose pliers;
- pliers;
- wire cutters;
- two types of wire: thinner for winding and thicker for creating a frame;
- sketch of decoration.
For serious and multi-component wire jewelry, creating at least a rough sketch is mandatory. This allows you to create an approximate structure of the decoration and calculate the arrangement of elements.

DIY pendant
1. At the very beginning, cut off a piece from the thicker wire. This piece should be quite long (about 20-25 cm), which is necessary to form the frame of the decoration.
2. We form a loop in the middle of the piece of wire and place it in the upper hole of the workpiece. It is necessary to place it so that both ends are under the “ears” of the workpiece.
3. We take the ends of the piece of wire out of the ears and lift the ends of the wire up, then we make a double spiral in the eye.
4. We form a further wire pattern, creating an “arc”.
5. Then we form a loop again.
6. We repeat the processes described above with the second piece of wire.
7. We form two symmetrical double lower spirals from the loops of step 5.
8. We begin the formation of the lower arc of the pendant. At the same time we bring two pieces of wire to the middle.
9. Using the Wig-jig tool or pliers, we form the last two loops of the warp. I use Wig-jig here because this tool allows you to achieve almost perfect symmetry of the elements.
10. We get this result.
Here is the result of the 10th step11. Using pliers, bend the ends of the segments and cut them off.
12. Using metal scissors, we make oblique cuts at the ends of the wire in order to then form beautiful end curls. Our decoration all consists of similar curls, since making the pendant with your own hands more elegant in this case will be easier.
13. Using pliers, smoothly bend the curls.
14. This is the result.
15. We beat off the end loops and curls on the anvil.
16. We begin to braid the frame with thin wire. We make two symmetrical turns of wire on the upper loops.
17. Then we make two small turns on the inside, bring the wire to the front side, and dive into the hole in the upper curl.
18. We put a blue bead on the wire.
19. We stretch the end of the wire again into the inner hole of the upper spiral. Again, we make two small turns on the inside of the frame, bring the wire to the front part and make three more large turns.
20. Then we make three small turns on the outer wire of the frame under the top loop and using the type of braid used in the first part of the master class we form this decorative braid. The meaning of this braid is to create the first two small turns on the first warp wire, then a large turn is made that “dives” under the second warp wire, then two small turns are made again, and a reverse diving turn is formed. And so the rhythm of the braid is repeated, which will help us make our own pendant a very original decoration.
21. Using a similar principle, the upper arc is braided, to which the ring and chain will cling. The basic principle here is that the braid should reach halfway through the arc, after which it is simply braided with uniform wide turns covering both warp wires.
22. The second side of the pendant is braided in the same way.
23. At the bottom of the photo you can see how the braiding of the lower arc begins. It involves connecting two arcs to each other and then winding the arc wire to the base wire. The braiding rhythm here is as follows: one large turn is made, three or four small turns are made on the warp wire, then one wide turn is made and the braiding rhythm continues. During the transition between small turns, beads are placed on the wire.
When connecting the ends of the arcs, use the braid described in step 14.
24. We move on to braiding medium large spirals. They are braided like the top spirals in step 16.
25. We braid the second large middle spiral in the same way.
That's all, all that remains is to attach the chain to the top eye and our decoration is ready. Now you know how to make a pendant with your own hands and you can create such an elegant piece of handmade jewelry yourself.

Beautiful handmade pendants are a task that anyone can handle. We will talk about unique jewelry that you can make yourself from practically available materials. They can easily be found at home or in the nearest store.
Pendant made of beads and beads
For beginners, it is better to practice on plastic or wooden beads. The latter, if desired, can be painted in any suitable color, if they have not yet been varnished. In the future - artificial or ornamental stones (for example, pearls, agate), solid wood.
It depends on the manufacturer how even each bead in the bag will be. Cheap Chinese ones often come across beads that are crooked, beveled or too narrow for a needle.
It is suitable for training and single-color “filling”, creating a “casual” effect in the boho style, etc., but a multi-colored pattern may go astray. Therefore, patterns of two or more shades are best made from high-quality Czech, Japanese or similar beads.
Wire pendant
The most common in three variations: steel, golden and aged bronze. More expensive and more difficult to process are copper and semi- and precious metals. It is found in different thicknesses, ranging from approximately 0.02-0.04 mm.
For a multi-layer decoration with a large number of elements, it is better to have several wires of the same color of different thicknesses.
To work with the material, you will need tools that can be borrowed from men: pliers and round nose pliers, wire cutters. And also a ruler along with a sketch of the pendant.
Polymer clay pendant
It will appeal to everyone who once loved to sculpt and has not lost their skills. Those who have already forgotten or want to improve their skills will be saved and delighted by the huge number of instructions on how to make a pendant with your own hands on the Internet - on video or with photos. You can achieve very beautiful multi-layered or gradient transitions by correctly folding or crushing pieces of clay.
The uniqueness of the material lies in the fact that it can be used to mold incredibly realistic fruits, berries, desserts, flowers, any figures and even landmark buildings that will look great as beads for earrings, pendants, bracelets and brooches. To do this, a fastener is carefully stuck into the finished products, and then everything is baked in the oven according to the instructions.
You should carefully monitor the expiration date and observe the storage conditions; if the polymer clay is overused, it will become difficult to wrinkle and will crumble after heating.
Cold porcelain pendant
It is easy to prepare at home, so it is one of the cheapest materials for creativity. Unlike polymer clay, it is more plastic and homogeneous, hardens at room temperature within several days.
Cold porcelain is easily painted when cooked with food coloring or after hardening with acrylic paints. It produces very delicate and realistic flowers, especially if you use molds taken from real plants.
Epoxy resin pendant
It is often sold as two components: a resin and a hardener. They are mixed in strict proportions and poured into silicone and plastic molds or bases for pendants. After about 1-2 days, the coating finally hardens and becomes transparent.
Pin pendant
Ideal for brutal military-style accessories, but can look bright and unusual if decorated (with beads, bright yarn, etc.).
Pendant made of chains, braid, lace
They are useful for hanging a pendant around your neck by adjusting the desired length, and for decorating the pendant itself.
In addition to the listed materials, options and ideas for making a pendant can be very different; even old forks, shells, keys or pieces of glass ground by waves will do, if you put in the effort and imagination.

Often, in order to show our loved ones how dear they are to us, we are ready to spend any money on gifts. But it’s not for nothing that they say that the most expensive gift is one made with your own hands. A chain with a pendant symbolizing eternal love will appeal to both men and women. And if the chain with the pendant is made by yourself, the gift will be doubly valuable. In this article we will tell you how to make a pendant with your own hands.
How to make a pendant with your own hands: materials
- A piece of fairly dense, well-seasoned wood (so that it does not subsequently crack when drying). I had an apricot prepared for a musical instrument, but it had flaws and I didn’t mind using it for crafts.
- A sheet of brass, approximately 1.8 mm thick (the thicker, the longer and more difficult the cutting will be).
- The wire is brass, about a millimeter in diameter (I only had copper).
How to make a pendant with your own hands: tools
- A hacksaw for metal or wood (the larger the teeth, the rougher the cut will be and in the future it will take longer to grind it) - a jigsaw - a sharp knife - a set of needle files for grinding/straightening the edges after cutting (a small round, semi-circular, and medium flat one was enough for me).
- A portable drill (any portable drill will do, even not the most powerful and high-quality one) a drill no less thick than a jigsaw for wood, which we will use to cut out the inside of the heart; for convenience, you can take a slightly thicker one.
If you don’t have experience, it’s better to take a few saws for wood and a dozen or two for metal. Wood files are thicker, the wood is soft, and due to inexperience, they can be easily broken, but if you cut carefully enough, you can get by with almost no losses. Metal files are thinner, the metal is hard, the slightest distortion/excessive force will lead to breakage. The main thing is that it doesn’t fly into your eyes (we use safety glasses). In general, it makes sense to take a couple of sets so that you don’t have to run around for more later.
- Grinding wheel (don’t take a cheap one, metal hairs constantly fly out of it during work, safety glasses don’t help, the hairs get quite unpleasantly on your face, and the wheel quickly becomes unusable because of this).
- Sandpaper of different grits for coarse and finer sanding. Two sheets were enough for me (one each P1200 and P220) and even had some left over later, but you can take it with a reserve, just in case
- To work with a jigsaw you need such a device.
About the retainer
If you don’t have a clamp, it can be easily made from plywood, nine millimeters thick (thinner ones will spring back, thicker ones will shorten the stroke of the jigsaw). We cut a rectangular piece of plywood about 12x30 cm, drill a hole with a diameter of about two centimeters in the center, then cut out a corner with a hacksaw. The fixator is ready.
1. Saw off a piece of wood of the desired thickness. I did about one and a half centimeters.
2. We fasten the clamp to the table with a clamp. To make it fit more tightly, you can place a piece of rubber between the clamp and the retainer.
3. Print out the drawing, cut it out along the contour, and carefully glue it onto the workpiece with PVA glue. We try to press firmly, but do not move our finger along the paper, only press down. Paper wet from PVA tears easily (not noticeably)
4. Drill a hole in the wing (preferably closer to the edge, so that you don’t have to go far with a jigsaw later). We pass a wood saw inside, secure it in a jigsaw, cut out from the inside along the white outline, you can get out of it by about half a millimeter, but no more, otherwise the inner brass part will dangle.
5. We cut out the heart along the outer edge - a heart comes out with a phoenix cut out inside (with straight edges).
6. Use a knife to add volume to the heart, cutting off all excess, trying not to cut yourself (see the patch on the thumb).
7. In the right place (from above, anywhere) we carefully mark with something sharp, for example an awl, the future hole for a wire ring. The diameter of the drill should be equal to, or slightly smaller by a fraction of a mm, than the wire; it can always be expanded later. We drill to a depth of approximately 5 mm.
8. We print out a phoenix on a printer, which we will cut out of metal. I had no other ideas on how to accurately transfer the design to wood and metal.
9. Cut it out and glue it onto a sheet of brass closer to the edge. There is no need to drill anything here.
10. Place the sheet on the clamp, carefully cut out the phoenix (we try to break as few files as possible). It should look something like this
11. Insert the metal phoenix into the heart. Doesn't fit? We look at why, how it rests and what, and we finish/file it with a file so that it fits. It is better to saw down the wooden part. Did it come in? Amazing! Now, using a portable drill with a grinding disc, we polish the phoenix to a shine and smooth out the sharp edges.
12. Using sandpaper (first coarse, then fine), we give the heart rounded shapes and bring it to the desired smoothness. Then, using files or a narrow strip of sandpaper folded, we smooth out the inner edges of the heart (which are in the shape of a phoenix).
13. Use sandpaper to make everything beautiful.
14. Bend a ring with a 5 mm tail from wire using round pliers.
15. Insert into the hole. Did it go in okay? Take it out. A drop of cyanoacrylate inside, then inserted again and fixed in the desired position. Let it dry for half an hour.
16. Carefully insert the metal phoenix inside the heart and secure it on the back side with cyanoacrylate in several places. Let it dry. We grab it again, on top, to form a thicker layer of glue.
17. We hang it on a chain or cord and wear it with pleasure or give it to a loved one.
