How to make snow using decoupage. Decoupage of wooden Christmas tree decorations
Hello dear readers. I will share with you the festive mood today. My children and I often attend master classes. This weekend we attended another master class. Because it's getting close New Year, then we went to decoupage wooden Christmas decorations. We are provided with a selection of wooden toys. Christmas trees, cupcakes, snowflakes, bows, etc. The children chose Christmas trees. The technique is very simple that even a 5 year old child can cope with this task. That's why I decided to show you how to decoupage a wooden toy.
To show you the master class, I bought a monkey and a snowflake. I found such wooden blanks in a shopping center (shopping center). Before the holidays, such wooden blanks can be purchased in large supermarkets or shopping centers.
Wooden products are sold with a hole drilled into which a piece of twine and a bead are threaded. Take and decorate the Christmas tree with such a wooden toy. If this is not the case, then you can drill a hole yourself and thread a ribbon or string.
The principle of decoupage is simple; using the decoupage technique you can make any Christmas tree decoration. I will make a snowflake, and using this plan and master class you can make not only a snowflake, but also a Christmas tree, for example. Such toys look very beautiful and unusual on the Christmas tree.
Decoupage of wooden toys. Master class with photos
We will need:
- wooden toys
- acrylic paint
- PVA glue
- napkins
- glitter, sparkles (for decoration)
- tassel
- scissors
- sponge
Here's a simple set for creativity. The finished product will need to be opened with varnish. But wooden toys must dry before they are covered.
We bought acrylic paint at a hardware store. We also bought varnish and PVA glue and napkins there. I buy different napkins, I choose ones with a beautiful design.
Our acrylic paint is water based. It is easy to wash off things and wash off your hands with regular soap.
To work, acrylic paint needs to be poured into a container. At the workshops we attend, paint and glue are poured into disposable containers ( disposable plate). Then you don’t need to wash anything, throw away the plate and that’s it.
You need to cover wooden toys with white paint. Cover in 2-3 layers. The first layer can be applied with a brush, and then cover the toy with a sponge. Use a sponge to “stuff” paint onto the surface of the toy. This way the paint will apply evenly.
But I immediately cover the products with a sponge, this is what we are taught at the master classes that we attend with children.
You can take a regular kitchen sponge, which is used for washing dishes. You can cut it into several parts, this will make it more convenient to apply paint.
We cover the product 2-3 times. Apply each subsequent layer only after the paint has dried thoroughly.
In the meantime, choose a design for the snowflake. Since the snowflake is small, the drawing should be small. I decided that a small snowflake in the center would look best. Cut out snowflakes.
I also want to give advice. Buy white napkins with designs rather than colored ones. Cut out all the details from the napkins. The drawings are on a white base, and the product is covered with white paint, so transitions and lines are not visible. And the drawing looks very beautiful and neat.
We try to cut products along the contour. The napkins are multi-layered, and before gluing it to the surface of the snowflake, you need to remove all the layers. There is only one drawing left.
Napkins can be three-layer or two-layer. Be careful and remove all layers from the drawing. I have two-layer napkins.
If the area of the toy is larger, cut out any drawings you like. But at the same time, you need to be guided so that the drawing fits and does not go beyond the edges of the wooden toys.
After all the layers have been removed from the napkin, we apply the design to the wooden surface. In my case it's a snowflake. I place the snowflake in the center.
I glue the snowflake with PVA glue. But PVA needs to be diluted with water. I store the glue to which I added water in a glass jar with a lid. Now I dilute the glue 2:1, before I diluted it 3:1. But the glue is too thick, so 2:1 is ideal for me. And if you dilute it 1:1, the glue is liquid, and the drawing quickly “soaks.”
I place the snowflake in the center of the toy. I cover it with glue diluted with water. Cover from the center of the picture to the edges. This technique allows you to apply drawings very smoothly.
I will decorate the edges of the snowflake with sparkles. You can use glitter. Glitter is glitter mixed with glue. I bought it at the Crafts store.
I will apply glitter to one part of the snowflake and glitter to the other. Before applying the dry glitter, I will apply a little white glue to the edges. Then I sprinkle the edges with dry glitter. Excess glitter can be shaken off the wooden toy.
As you can see, everything is very simple and accessible. Even a child can do decoupage of wooden Christmas tree decorations. Our children already make such toys themselves. We learned.))) It turns out very beautiful. You can show your imagination and creativity.
There are so many interesting things to learn and learn. I make cards in the style of scrapbooking and decoupage, so we have a lot of materials. We store everything in a box. We did it recently, all with step by step photos. The box was made with the children, it turned out to be an original and beautiful box.)))
These are the wooden toys we have. Christmas trees made by children at the master class. All that remains is to open the finished products with varnish.
Decorating a room for the New Year, or making toys for the Christmas tree with your own hands is fun. Especially with children. Children love the New Year very much, I think as do adults.))) Create a fairy tale and festive mood.
I hope you liked the master class and find it useful. Do, create, create beauty. And we got such a snowflake. This snowflake will definitely decorate our Christmas tree.
All that remains is to open this snowflake with varnish. Let the snowflake dry and then coat it with varnish. Cover in several layers.
Good luck and festive mood to everyone.
As a practical person, I wanted to make snowflakes that could be given as gifts or used to decorate a Christmas tree or room.
I will tell you about the stages of implementation and show you the techniques, but your imagination will tell you how else to apply them.
According to the assignment of the Art Project "Magic Snowfall" it is necessary to create snowflakes with six rays on a round base. But the other side of my snowflake is a surprise wish. On the reverse side of my snowflake there is decoupage and a three-dimensional congratulation.
What you will need:
- computer disks (the base for the project should be round, so I took a ready-made base - a disk),
- blue and white acrylic paints,
- napkin with snowflakes.
- For the paste you will need: baking soda, PVA glue, white acrylic paint.
I often use this paste in different jobs. This is an excellent replacement for expensive texture pastes. The costs are minimal, and the results are excellent. To prepare it, mix glue, paint and soda in approximately equal quantities. It should turn out to be like thick sour cream. We transfer it into a soft tube, a tube of PVA glue is perfect. When closed, the paste does not dry out for a long time and does not lose its properties.
We paint the wheels with two layers of paint.
To make the snowflake symmetrical, you can use a pencil to outline the rays or the entire design.
Let it dry. The paste dries quickly and becomes very hard, while it is excellent for sanding.
The drawing turns out voluminous.
On the back side I glued napkin motifs with snowflakes. I wrote inscriptions on top of the snowflakes. I coated both sides of the disk with PVA glue and sprinkled them with glitter.
When the paste dries, you can shade the snowflake design and lettering with blue paint.
This is what the finished snowflakes look like.
And these are snowflakes, blue on a white background.
I made four snowflakes in total. This is the reverse side, on which decoupage is made with a napkin with snowflakes and three-dimensional inscriptions.
The discs were sprinkled with glitter on both sides.
Not a single New Year is complete without champagne - this sparkling drink has become a kind of attribute of New Year's Eve. This is probably why needlewomen began to think about why not make regular bottle champagne unique, not like others? There are at least 2 options for transforming a bottle: you can sew clothes for a bottle of champagne, or you can decorate it. We will talk about the second method of decoration.
There is already an article on Krestik dedicated to decoupage of bottles. It tells in detail about what decoupage is, what materials are needed for decoration, and also provides 2 master classes on decoupage bottles. If you are not yet familiar with this needlework technique, but would like to learn, please read the article “Decoupage of bottles or a master class on turning an ordinary bottle into an original vase”, it will be extremely useful to you.
In this master class, we will not go into detail about the intricacies of decoupage in general; we will move directly to the process of decoupage of champagne bottles.
Traditional decoupage
To decorate a bottle of champagne in the traditional way, prepare all the necessary materials:
- the bottle itself (you must first soak it in water and remove all labels)
- brush (ideally a fan brush for decoupage)
- napkins with a New Year's theme
- scissors
- paints and contours (preferably acrylic)
- masking tape
If you do not plan to decorate the entire bottle, but want to leave a beautiful golden label on top, then seal it with masking tape at the beginning of the work.
Then, using a regular dishwashing sponge, cover the surface of the bottle with white acrylic paint. To ensure that the surface is evenly colored, cover it with 2-3 layers of paint, allowing it to dry before applying the next layer.
Acrylic paint is ideal for use at home: it dries quickly enough, is odorless and is easily washed off with water.
After the paint has dried, coat the surface of the bottle with varnish. Acrylic varnish has the same properties as acrylic paint, so it is 100% suitable for decoupage.
The next step is to take three-layer napkins for decoupage and separate the top layer from them, which is what we will work with. Then, with our hands, we carefully tear off from the napkin those parts of the image that we want to glue to the bottle. If you cut out fragments with scissors, it will be more difficult to hide the transition lines.
Now you can start gluing the napkin fragments. This must be done very carefully: do not wet the napkin too much with water, otherwise it will quickly tear. It is better to lightly brush the napkin with a damp brush, starting from the central part and moving towards the edges, gradually smoothing out all the wrinkles. After the napkin “lay” on the surface of the bottle, be sure to thoroughly cover it with PVA glue!
You can immediately glue the napkin with acrylic varnish, but for beginning needlewomen, the option with water and PVA glue is more suitable.
After the napkin has dried thoroughly, we begin tinting the top of the bottle. To do this we take acrylic paint suitable shade and with the help of a sponge we apply it to the surface of the bottle, at the same time going onto the napkin itself (this way we will hide the transition point).
If you don't want to buy a set of acrylic paints, buy regular colors that can be added to white acrylic paint. Then you can get several shades of the same color, depending on the amount of color added (the more color, the more intense the color and vice versa). By covering the surface of the bottle with several shades of the same color, you can achieve very interesting transitions.
When the paint has dried, we again coat the entire surface of the bottle with varnish. Typically, decoupage artists apply 3-5 layers.
You can decorate a bottle of champagne with a decorative bow and place it on the festive table!
The highlight of this bottle is the window through which a cute New Year's picture is shown. At first glance, it seems as if there isn’t even a bottle inside this New Year’s preparation)
We will need the following materials:
- bottle of champagne
- napkins or decoupage cards
- primer or acrylic paint
- some self-adhesive paper
- paste imitating snow
- decoupage varnish
After peeling off all the labels from the champagne bottle, degrease its surface with alcohol. Then you need to glue the selected napkin with the plot INSIDE. This image will then be shown in the window.
Now you need to cut out the window itself from self-adhesive paper and glue it to the bottle.
Then you should cover the entire surface of the bottle with primer or acrylic paint.
If, as planned, the bottle should not remain white, then at this stage paint it in the color you need.
Well, now give free rein to your imagination! Decorate the bottle the way you want. The principle of gluing napkins is fully described in the previous master class. Don't forget to varnish the entire surface at the end!
After the varnish has dried, carefully go along the contour of the window with a stationery knife and remove the self-adhesive - the bottle with the window is ready! You can tint the window frame with paint and cover it with artificial snow.
Decoupage bottles with fabric
Another interesting option- decoupage of bottles with fabric.
Materials we will need:
- again a bottle of champagne
- cotton fabric
- napkins with New Year's scenes
- acrylic paints(or white paint and colors)
- contours
- glue (hot gun or Moment Gel)
- PVA glue
- ribbons or braid
- decoupage varnish (you can use spray varnish)
Traditionally, we remove the labels from a bottle of champagne, leaving only the top part covered with foil. Degrease the surface of the bottle with alcohol or acetone.
Then pour PVA glue into a container with water (in a 1:1 ratio) and put a piece of fabric the size of a handkerchief in it. Let the fabric soak thoroughly and wring it out, but not too much.
We place the fabric on the bottle, completely randomly forming tubercles and folds. If during the process you feel that there is too much fabric somewhere, just cut off the excess and that’s it.
Then we leave the bottle to dry (you can use a hairdryer to make it faster).
After the fabric has dried, apply several layers of acrylic paint on top with a sponge and leave to dry again.
Now let's prepare the napkins for decoupage. We tear out the scenes we like with our hands, separate the 2 lower layers and leave the layer with the painting itself. If the picture has clear edges, then you can cut it out with scissors (like the bullfinch on the left). Glue the napkins onto the surface of the bottle.
And then you can dream up again! You can cover the surface of the bottle with colored acrylic paint that matches the chosen subject. Carefully paint over all the folds of the fabric so that the white paint does not show through (unless your idea requires it, of course))
To make all the folds of the fabric look voluminous and beautiful, paint the recesses dark shades paint, and the bulges are light. To hide sharp transitions dark color to light, squeeze a little silver or golden outline onto the sponge and go over the entire surface of the bottle with light strokes.
There are two ways to decorate bottle necks. You can use a glue gun to make droplets flowing from the neck (like a melted candle), or you can pull the neck decorative ribbon or with braid and tie a beautiful bow.
Finally, we add decorative lines, snowflakes, and inscriptions using the outline and leave to dry.
After the paint and outline have completely dried, be sure to cover the entire surface of the bottle with varnish (2-3 layers are enough). Elegant bottles of champagne are ready!
We hope you will master bottle decoupage with these detailed tutorials.
Categories,
When we decorate the Christmas tree every year, we want to decorate it with new unusual balls and toys. Currently available in stores Christmas decorations for every taste, but, alas, the most beautiful, original ones are expensive. Don't despair, we offer you a simple way to make a Christmas tree ball with imitation painting and snow. The ball is completed using the decoupage technique, using 3-layer table napkins, acrylic paints for painting and semolina.
For a ball using the decoupage technique you will need:
- 3-layer napkin;
- plastic ball with a diameter of 6 cm;
- nail scissors;
- sponge, brushes for paint and varnish;
- stick for holding the ball;
- white construction paint;
- whitewash;
- acrylic paints;
- contours;
- dry silver glitter;
- decoupage glue or PVA;
- decoupage or parquet varnish;
- container with water;
- sandpaper;
- semolina;
- narrow and wide tape for a silver bow;
- Lurex thread;
- glue "Moment".
Let's start the magic!
From a great variety of napkins, we find the only one that suits us. When choosing a napkin, look at the image to see if it will fit the size of the ball, and only then cut out the fragments. You may have to adjust some to size, that is, cut them down a little, and also make darts so that the motif lies evenly on the ball and flows around it, and does not bunch up when gluing.
The first thing we should start with is- This is to wash the ball or wipe it with alcohol so that its surface is clean and non-greasy. We take a sponge and white construction paint, cover the ball with 5-6 layers and be sure to dry it after each new layer. In order not to get dirty with paint and to make it convenient to hold the ball in your hands, we put it on any stick.
The final step of priming is to apply 2-3 layers of white to the ball. Let's dry!
We grind the ball with sandpaper, preferably with sandpaper.
We dilute the PVA glue with some water, arm ourselves with a fan brush and begin gluing the cut out motifs from the napkin, placing them in a thematic image around the entire perimeter of the ball.
We coat the glued pattern once with varnish. This is necessary so that we can paint the pattern without fear, making it more expressive.
We take out all the acrylic paints we have and select colors similar to those depicted on the motifs. We paint the ball with mother-of-pearl paints, red with red, green with emerald, etc. It immediately becomes clear that the soulless drawing turns into a “living” image.
If you want, you can write “Merry Christmas” in English.
What's New Year without snow? Let's pretend that the Christmas tree and gifts stand beautifully in the snowdrifts and fluffy snow falls.
How to make snow?- you ask. Remember, the simplest and quick way making snow from semolina.
We will need:
- semolina itself;
- PVA glue;
- white acrylic paint;
- drop of blue paint.
Mix all the ingredients in a small container; the consistency should not be liquid.
We put the resulting snow on the bottom of the ball, capturing literally 1 mm of the colorful image. Let it dry and move on to the next step.
Paint the top of the ball with pale blue paint using a thin brush.
Time passed and the paint and snow dried. We take the contours, outline in red the branches of the Christmas tree and the boxes with gifts, as well as the inscription. We cover all the green areas with an emerald outline, shading the bows and toys with gold.
We decorate the inscription with the remaining snow. At your discretion, you can put a little snow on the gifts and sprinkle it on the Christmas tree, sprinkle droplets of snow all over the ball and draw snowflakes on the other side of the ball.
We cover the ball with three layers of varnish with intermediate drying. To make the snow sparkle, sprinkle it with dry silver glitter.
We fix everything with varnish. Let's dry it.
Snow ball ready, but lacks airiness and completeness.
We measure and cut 20 cm from a narrow ribbon, 36-37 cm from a wide ribbon, roll it into a bow and fasten it with a pin. We tie it with lurex thread in the center, and bring the thread to the wrong side. Drop a little Moment glue into the middle of the bow and glue it to the joint between the mount and the toy.
The ball with a bow became like a fairy tale, airy!
