Do-it-yourself doll from a plastic bottle: materials, ideas, recommendations for beginning craftsmen, videos and a master class from experienced needlewomen. Do-it-yourself doll from plastic bottles Doll from a bottle step-by-step instructions
Well, today we will make no less wonderful things from ordinary garbage. 🙂
Yes, yes! Each of us has a lot of things in our home that we are used to throwing in the trash: cardboard boxes and other packaging from the different materials, old CDs, ripped socks and favorite but already worn T-shirts, plastic bottles and boxes of all kinds of drinks, shampoos, soaps, etc., etc. Did you know that all this garbage, with just a little effort and imagination, can be turned into interesting and often useful things to decorate your home, garden, or plot?
These are the trinkets that I want to invite you to make. In this article we will look at samples of crafts made from ordinary plastic bottles. And not just ordinary chandeliers, which I’m sure you often see (although where would we be without them :)) but a lot of very, very original and interesting things. However, judge for yourself:
Butterfly made from plastic bottles
Phone holder made from a plastic bottle
Christmas tree made from plastic bottles
Doll box made of plastic bottles
Box of bottles
And many, many other things. Anyway, enough talk, let's get down to business! ^)
Craft from plastic bottles No. 1: doll box
To begin with, I suggest making a box for jewelry and various small items. In the process of making it you will need:
- one plastic bottle;
- scissors;
- quick-drying universal (preferably transparent) glue;
- a broken or simply unnecessary Barbie doll (or similar);
- a piece of beautiful chiffon or other loose fabric;
- a piece of lace;
- two cotton sponges (discs);
- thread and needle.
First of all, we take the doll and cut off its upper part (without legs) (Fig. 1). We only need the top (without the neck) and the bottom of the bottle - we also cut them off with scissors (Fig. 2). Next, we take our doll and insert it into the hole in the blank, which will serve as a lid for us, as shown in Fig. 3.
From chiffon or other fabric (in my case it’s a piece with a gold pattern left over from thin curtains), cut out two circles with a slightly larger diameter cotton pads(Fig. 4). Place the fabric on the discs and use a needle and thread, or sewing machine(if you have one) make longitudinal and transverse stitches, attaching the parts to each other (Fig. 5–6).
We take two more pieces of the same fabric, wide enough to cover the entire internal and almost the entire outer part of our plastic blanks (Fig. 7).
We gather both strips on one side and sew them to the bottom (Fig. 8–9). We get two bags, which we put on the inside of the box parts, closing the internal space, turning the edges outward and securing them there with glue (Fig. 10–13).
Now we need to connect the two parts of the future box into one and at the same time make sure that the lid of the box can be folded back.
To do this, we take another piece of the same fabric, fold it in several layers, stitch it and sew it on the back to the parts of the box, as shown in Fig. 14. Now the lid opens and closes freely (Fig. 15).
The frame of the box is ready. But to make it look aesthetic, beautiful and complete, the doll needs to sew an outfit. The lace will serve this purpose.
We cut off a strip of lace (its size will depend on the thickness of the lace and how full you want the dress to be), gather it and sew it in a circle to the bottom of the box.
I only had wide lace, so I folded it in half, making two rows of frills of different lengths at once, and sewed it to the upper edge of the lower half of the box (Fig. 16–17). The rest of the outfit will be designed using the same principle.
But before sewing the frills to the top of the box, do not forget to make a corset for the doll from a scrap of fabric (Fig. 18).
We sew the next frill to the upper half of the box (Fig. 19). Now we trim our corset with the same lace, and with another gathered strip we cover the visible part between it and the skirt (Fig. 20).
We make sleeves from small pieces of the same lace (Fig. 21).
If you wish, as I did, you can sew a hat of any shape from the remaining scraps of fabric and lace (Fig. 22–23). I ended up with this simple headdress.
The doll-box is ready, and we can safely put small trifles or jewelry in it.
Such a box will not only useful thing in the house, but will also serve as an excellent decoration for any room.
Craft No. 2: phone holder made from a plastic bottle
Such a thing, in my opinion, is simply necessary for everyone in our time. Why? How often have you looked for where to put your mobile phone while it's charging? That's what I'm talking about. And having such a holder at hand, this problem disappears by itself.
This thing is done very simply and very quickly.
You will need:
Plastic bottle;
Scissors;
Glue, fabric and ribbon for decoration.
I used a bottle baby soap, but you can use any other plastic bottle.
So, we take the bottle, cut off its top part (the one with the neck) and cut out the wall on one side, leaving only a low side (Fig. 1–2). Don't make it too low or the phone will fall out.
We make a hole in the upper part, the width of which should correspond to the width of the plug from our charger, that is, it should be slightly wider than the distance between the holes in the socket.
That's basically all. You can leave the holder as is, or you can decorate it to your taste. I covered my product with a piece of stretch fabric and tied it with a gold ribbon, tying it in a bow and sewing a rhinestone in the center.
Craft No. 3: Decorative decoration from plastic bottles - a butterfly or moth
To make such a decoration we need:
- a piece of plastic bottle (I used the middle part from the bottle that was left over after making the box);
- scissors;
- paper and marker;
- textile;
- glue;
- transparent tape;
- beads, rhinestones, seed beads to create a pattern;
- glitter nail polish.
First of all, take a sheet of paper and fold it in half.
From the fold line we draw half of the butterfly so that after cutting, when unfolding, we get a symmetrical figure (Fig. 1). Cut it out (Fig. 2).
We take the middle, flat part of a plastic bottle, glue a paper butterfly to it with transparent tape and cut it out (Fig. 3). We get the same butterfly, but made of plastic (Fig. 4–5).
Along the lines highlighted with a marker, slightly bend the body of the moth to give it more volume (Fig. 6–7).
Let's start decorating.
To begin with, we will cover our entire butterfly with beautiful fabric or lace (Fig. 8).
Next, using glue (or maybe thread and a needle), we attach beads and beads to the fabric, forming the body of the butterfly and creating a symmetrical pattern on the wings (Fig. 9–12). Decorate with glue rhinestones. We treat the edges with shiny varnish. We make the antennae from thin wire or thick fishing line, crowning the edges with beads.
That's all, the moth is ready. If you want, you can attach a large pin on its back side and turn the decoration into a brooch that can easily be attached to any fabric - curtain, drapery, drapery. Enjoy the beauty!
And in the next photo you can see other options for butterflies made from plastic bottles.
Craft No. 4: chandelier made from plastic bottles
As an option, I would like to suggest you make just such a creative chandelier, invented and brought to life by folk inventors.
In order to make it you will need:
- scissors;
- paint of several colors in cans;
- two metal rings of different diameters for the frame;
- strong thread to secure the structure.
By following simple instructions and focusing on the drawings, you can quickly and easily decorate your country house or cottage with an unusual chandelier.
Craft No. 5: box
How would you like this box?
Materials for work:
- several plastic bottles;
- scissors;
- hole punch;
- strong thick colored thread;
- hook for weaving;
- colored cardboard or other colored plastic containers;
- transparent glue.
First you need to cut 6 double blanks from the middle parts of plastic bottles of the same size - 4 rectangular and 2 square (Fig. 1). Next, in each workpiece, we make holes around the perimeter with a hole punch (Fig. 2).
Using a hook and thread, we braid the edges of each part (Fig. 3). We connect the bottom and walls together (Fig. 4–7).
We cut out 4 strips from pieces of plastic, long, corresponding to the length of the sides of the lid and several centimeters wide. We make holes in them and also braid them with thread (Fig. 8).
We connect the strips with the lid (Fig. 9–10) and attach the lid on one side to the main part of the box (Fig. 11).
That's practically all. All that remains is to decorate the box with paper or plastic appliqué (Fig. 12).
In my opinion, it will be much more practical and beautiful if, before weaving the parts of the box with thread, you insert the applique inside, between the double walls.
And look how many different boxes of various shapes you can make with your own hands.
Craft No. 6: Christmas tree made from plastic bottles
A very simple way to create Christmas mood and decorate the house for the New Year - make your own Christmas tree and New Year's toys.
These pictures show how to quickly and economically make a cute Christmas tree from a green plastic bottle, using only scissors and a candle (or lighter).
In another photo, you see more Christmas trees made of plastic, but made using a different technique. Which one will you like?
And look at these New Year's toys and decorations! Do you want the same? There is nothing simpler - a plastic bottle, scissors and your imagination - that's all you need.
And this is just a small part of what can be done from plastic, instead of just throwing it in the trash.
The most unusual crafts made from plastic bottles: review
You can make wonderful toys from plastic bottles, one of a kind, since they will be invented and created by you in a single copy. And if you involve your kids in their creation, then such toys will bring even more joy to the children, since they will be created with my own hands. Many of these crafts can be wonderful gifts for a child. Of course, it's much easier to go to the store and buy a Ferby. But nothing can be more beautiful than a gift made with one’s own hand, right? 🙂
Girls can also make simple but pretty cute bracelets from bottles.
And how many different useful little things can be made from these same bottles! You can’t count everything: candlesticks, stands and containers for storing small items, curtains, floor lamps, a wide variety of decorative decorations, wonderful flowers from plastic bottles etc.
Separately, it is worth giving examples of decorating and arranging a garden or summer cottage using the same plastic bottles of different capacities and shapes. Craftsmen have learned to create truly masterpieces of art from various waste materials. See for yourself! Don’t these beautiful birds, cute little animals, and fairy-tale meadows inspire admiration?
What about these gazebos, flower beds, columns and other elements? Is it really surprising that all this was created, at first glance, from useless garbage?
But besides everything else, by converting plastic containers into a variety of interesting and useful things, you are also saving our Mother Nature. Otherwise, plastic waste thrown into the trash would decompose in the ground for hundreds of years and at the same time pollute environment. And so they will not only not cause harm, but will also serve you and those around you for some time and will be a decoration of your everyday life.
Learn from us, fantasize with us, invent and create crafts that are even better, more interesting, and more original! Good luck and success!

Thank you for your attention!
Publications on the topic:
Our group held a consultation for parents on the topic “Do-it-yourself Christmas tree - easy and fast.” Parents visited the past Christmas tree.
Dear colleagues, I present to your attention my new hobby - dolls - boxes. Such dolls can be a wonderful gift.
To awaken children's interest in theatrical play, I sewed characters from the fairy tales “Turnip” and “Pykh”. Children enjoy playing with stocking stuffers.
In stores, a puppet theater is quite expensive, so I decided to sew it myself. This is a very labor-intensive process, but everything will work out if you want.
Hello dear colleagues! Many of us probably had to invent and make various aids and devices for.
Manufacturing
Make a cross from wooden blocks, screw a long screw into the center on which the doll will be attached.
Make a hole in the bottom of a plastic bottle the size of a wooden pole. Make the same holes at the level of the doll's future hands.
On the pole and wooden crossbar, cut grooves in the place where both sticks will connect.
Insert the pole into the bottle through the neck at an angle. Then insert the crossbar with the notch facing the pole. Slide the pole until both notches are connected and the edge of the pole comes out of the hole in the bottom of the bottle. If you do everything correctly, then after combining the parts and securing the structure to the cross, the base will be quite rigid. Additionally, you can lubricate the grooves with glue so that the crossbar and pole stick together. Screw the cap on the bottle and connect the pole to the cross.
Drill a hole in a plastic (or foam) ball with a diameter slightly larger than the cork.
Cover the ball with a nylon sock, cut off the excess and tuck the ends of the sock inside the hole.
Coat the bottle cap with glue and insert the ball. You now have the complete base of the doll.
Use black yarn to make hair for the doll, gluing it to the nylon.
Hairstyle can be done in different ways depending on the head bur, so you may want to experiment.
Eyes and nose can be made not only from sparkles, but you can also use ready-made eyes for soft toys, cut from durnal and varnished, made in the form of an applique, etc. You can also simply paint facial features with acrylic paints.
To complete the doll's outfit, color the cotton pads in different colors ordinary water-soluble paints. If you paint with a brush, the discs will turn out bright. If you dilute the paint in water and dip the discs, and then dry, the color will be more delicate and even.
To make a fluffy skirt, glue a cone-shaped frame from cardboard strips and secure it to the bottle. Calculate the bottom circle so that the cross is hidden under it.
Glue cotton pads onto the frame of the skirt.
The doll's hairstyle can be decorated as desired, or a scarf made of colored fabric can be worn.
If you want to make a ritual doll, then you don’t need to make a face for it.
Add beads to the doll, attach some kitchen utensils or anything else to your hands as you wish.
A couple of phrases from us:
The master class is quite interesting and based on bottles you can create a whole army of different dolls for decorating and decorating festive events (and not just Maslenitsa) - it all depends on your imagination. But you don’t have to worry about crosses and sticks, but make everything simpler.
Do not cut the bottom of the bottle, but to make the doll stable, weight the bottom by pouring a little plaster solution into the bottle.
Insert the stick into the holes, and to prevent it from moving, wrap it with pieces of tape near the plastic itself, then glue the ends of the tape to the bottle. You can also apply a thick layer of glue at the joints, or use thin tape to make a figure eight on the doll’s back, grabbing the stick from the front. There may be other ways to immobilize the arms if needed.
By the way, the arms can also be movable if they are made from several segments connected to each other. You can also use thick wire for your hands, wrapping it in padding polyester and covering it with nylon from tights.
For the skirt, you can make a solid cone-shaped frame from cardboard - it will be more rigid and the doll will be stable without any cross. The main thing is that the lower part of the body is exactly level with the bottom of the bottle.
If you plan to sew normal clothes for the doll, and not sculpt discs or other materials on it, then you don’t have to make a cone at all - a plaster blank at the bottom will already give the doll stability, and fabric skirts can be fluffy and multi-layered.
Plastic bottles often lie idle in the pantry - just in case. You can easily find a use for them and make a beautiful and interesting craft. A cute doll from the most ordinary plastic bottle is made quickly and easily with your own hands, and the result is a cute interior toy.
Let's look at a master class on creating a doll from a plastic bottle with your own hands
A detailed master class will help you master the process of creating a doll.
To make a doll, you will need the following materials:
- 2 transparent five-liter plastic bottles (bottles) with lids;
- some leftover colored yarn;
- markers;
- paints and brushes (or aerosol paints in cans);
- red felt (or a small piece of other dense red material);
- knife (stationery, for paper);
- regular scissors;
- awl;
- glue.
May be useful at work:
- heat gun;
- electric drill, possibly a soldering iron (can be useful for making large holes in plastic bottles).
The neck of one of the bottles is cut off approximately in the middle of the bottle, and then the neck with the spiral for the cork is cut off from the same part. A second one will be inserted into the hole of the bottle later; at this stage you need to make sure that the holes are of the appropriate size.
To create the doll's head, take a second bottle and cut it off. You will need the upper part for work. It should be cut out large enough to create a doll's face. A cap with hair will be made from the bottom one, so it should be smaller. To do this, you need to remove the middle part.
After this, the lid is removed from the top. These two parts should fit together well and hold tightly.
Now they begin to decorate the blanks. It is necessary to paint only from the inside so as not to get stained with paint. The next stage is started only after the paint has completely dried.
After the blanks have dried, the body and shoulders of the doll are connected to each other.
To make a doll's face they use plastic lids. They are glued to where the eyes will be. Using a marker, eyelashes, eyelashes, and eyebrows are drawn in. The nose and mouth are also drawn. You can outline the mouth with a marker after gluing a piece of red felt in the shape of a smile.
The most labor-intensive process is attaching the hair to the doll.
The inside of the head is marked with a marker, and then holes are pierced with a sharp awl. You can pre-heat the awl. It will be easier to work this way - the hot metal will melt the plastic, and there will be no sharp, torn edges in the workpiece. The more holes there are and the closer they are to each other, the thicker the doll’s hair will be and the more interesting her appearance will be. In addition, the size (diameter) of the hole itself will determine which bundle can be inserted inside.
Yarn is used for the hair itself. It is best to opt for the one that best retains its appearance over time - containing acrylic and nylon. The length is chosen at the discretion of the master.
Using a needle, the bundle is removed from the middle of the head, and a knot is tied from below, inside, which will prevent the threads from falling out. Having densely filled the entire surface, leave an empty area about one centimeter below the upper border of the junction of the two parts of the head.
It is better to make holes in the upper part of the head more often than in the lower part, so the hair will turn out much fluffier and more interesting. In addition, with a marker you need to mark the place where the bangs will begin. For the bangs, the threads must be cut shorter than for the rest of the head.
Attach the hair from the top to the center.
To put the doll together, you need to put the upper part of the head on the lower one, like a hat. You can attach the parts together using glue.
This doll model is interesting because the hair length can be adjusted. To do this, the “cap” of the upper part of the head is removed and the threads are pulled inward a little, secured with an elastic band or a hairpin, and then the upper part of the head is put back in place.
If the length of the hair needs to be adjusted, then you cannot glue one part to the other, as this will prevent you from removing the top.
To return your hair to its original length, you need to pull the ends of the threads or, taking your head apart again, untie the knot inside. You can comb the doll with a wide-toothed comb. Hair threads can be used to braid any hairstyle - from a simple ponytail or bun to braids of varying degrees of complexity.
A simple bottle doll.You can make a simple bottle doll using a 1.5 liter bottle and thread. Holes are poked in the cork with an awl. Also, using an awl, holes are made on the back of the bottle, however, you can limit yourself to just the cork. Then threads are threaded through the holes and tied with a knot from the inside.
Use a marker to draw a nose, mouth and eyes on the bottle. You can glue parts of the face by cutting them out of paper or any other material of your choice.
Large holes are made in the middle of the bottle on the sides, into which braids of thread are threaded. Knots are tied at the ends of the braids. To keep the handles tight, thread the braids through the neck, pulling them into the hole using a crochet hook.
It turns out to be a wonderful, cheerful doll.

Sewing a doll from nylon tights and a plastic bottle is absolutely simple, especially since you can always find all the basic materials in the house. This process of creating a unique toy is very simple and exciting. Almost every needlewoman who loves to create exclusive things with her own hands will be able to do it. You won't need much time or effort. Only desire is enough.
Dolls are products that have been familiar to humanity since time immemorial.. From time immemorial, people have created these toys for their children. Now you can do it yourself not only interesting toy, but also a doll that will become an amazing piece of furniture, an excellent addition to it, providing warmth and comfort in the house.
Today we offer you interesting idea- sewing a doll from nylon tights and a plastic bottle, which are easy to find in every home. After reading the material, you will see for yourself that creating it will be absolutely easy.
To work on the product, we need to prepare tools and all the necessary materials.
- Old nylon tights(it is better to take flesh-colored tights).
- Plastic bottle.
- Wire with cutters.
- Scissors (sharp).
- Sintepon to wrap the bottle.
- Needle and thread.
- Eyes for dolls (can be cut from any old toy or buy new ones in specialized stores; you can also make them yourself, but it will take more time).
- Pieces of material for the clothes of the future doll.
First we need to make a frame, for which we will need a bottle. We need to cut off the bottom of it.
After we have cut the bottle, we need to wrap it with padding polyester. We fix the synthetic winterizer with thread. To do this we need to make simple stitches.
We will put a nylon stocking on the prepared frame. Remember that its length should be twice the length of the frame.
After we have prepared the base, we need to give our doll a face. First of all, take a small padding polyester ball and insert it inside. We will use it to model the nose.
Now we need to knit the top of the tights. We take a needle and thread and begin to form the bridge of the nose. To make it, we need to thread the needle parallel to the surface on which the frame stands, stretch the thread and pull it slightly, as shown in the photo.
Then we drag the needle and thread from top to bottom on both sides of our nose so that we get nostrils. See photo.
In order for wings to form at the nose, we need to once again thread the needle and thread through the previously made holes for the nostrils. Only in this case it is necessary to tighten the thread.
Now we definitely need to give our doll a forehead, cheeks, and mouth. To do this, we need to add more pieces of padding polyester under the nylon to the forehead, in the chin area and on both sides of the resulting nose for the cheeks.
Using a needle and thread, we make a strip for the mouth.
Using the same needle, we tighten the doll’s lips.
Using a tightener, as shown in the photographs, we model the cheeks, as well as the chin, of our future doll.
After this, we will need to glue the eyes on top of the cheeks. Using the same tightening we will shape the eyebrows and bring them together in the area of the bridge of the nose.
In order for the doll's face to have a finished look, we definitely need to paint on her lips, cheeks and eyebrows.. She turned out to be a very nice lady.
In order for our doll to be neat and beautiful, it is necessary to decorate it correctly. We will hide the bottom edge of the tights inside a plastic bottle. We carefully tighten the upper edge with threads, sew it and also hide it in the neck of the bottle.
The doll needs a hairstyle. We can make it out of wool threads or take the easier route - buy a wig-hairstyle in a specialized store and attach it to your head.
Now our lady needs to make her hands. Wire will come to our aid. We cut it into ten identical short pieces and make two more long pieces.
We need to bend the ends of long wire pieces so that loops are formed. We bend the ends of the short sections into a loop on only one side.
We take the padding polyester and cut it into strips, the width of which is one centimeter. After this, we wrap each individual piece of wire as shown in the photo.
We need to model the doll's hand. We will fasten four small ones on a large piece of wire with a loop and wrap the padding polyester around the resulting palm.
A little below the ring we will fasten the fifth piece of wire and we will have “ thumb" Next we will continue to wrap the doll’s entire hand, but for this we will use wider padding polyester strips.
We will stretch the nylon (a square piece) onto the palm of our hand and twist it with a rope. We will need to sew the fingers twice.
We need to wrap the remaining part of the limb in nylon, stretch it and sew it to the hand. We cut off unnecessary parts of the material.
We will need to perform exactly the same steps to make the second hand.
Now all we have to do is sew the arms to the doll itself, its body, and create an outfit for it. To make an outfit, you can take absolutely any material, make accessories and a headdress. It all depends on how much your imagination and your patience are enough.
Having dressed the doll, we can use it for its intended purpose - to decorate the interior of any room with it.
