Chain-link mesh is most often used by summer residents to build fences and protect plants. And it is unlikely that it will come to your mind when we're talking about about decorating the site. And in vain! This material has various variations, including some that are quite soft and easy to cut. And it's great for making rustic decor.
One of the advantages of this material is its low price. You don't have to spend a fortune on decor. And crafts made from mesh look very beautiful! And here are 10 proofs of this:
Fill the space of old picture frames
Stretch mesh instead of canvas and attach cards and notes to it. You can leave the space dynamic by changing the decor, or create a complete composition. In addition to clothespins, you can attach cards with satin ribbons.
Build an original flowerpot
Fresh flowers will decorate any place in the garden. But you can make the bouquet look even more impressive by hanging it on a wall or door. Fill the mesh with a layer of moss to hide the stems.
Make a convenient jewelry hanger
If you store jewelry in a jewelry box, it may get tangled or lose its pair. A frame with a mesh will keep everything in sight. You can use an old window or a piece of plywood as a base.
Make placemats
Store devices in glass jar at the dacha - a tribute to tradition. Refresh your favorite Soviet design techniques with an original mesh braid. Such a stand will not seem like a temporary solution.
Build an egg basket
A convenient basket is always needed in the household. Weave it from solid wire and mesh.
Make a 3D panel
Place natural ones in a wire heart natural materials. For example, pine cones, acorns or beautiful branches. Cover the edges of the composition with rope or twine.
Decor for a candlestick
Elegant decoration in rustic style. Cover the candle with an original air dome.
Play with the design
Interesting project to restore an old cabinet. The surface is artificially aged, and the glass is replaced with mesh.
Knitting washcloths is one of the easiest and most successful ideas for recycling nets in which vegetables are packaged. Unlike their knitted or terry “brothers,” knitted washcloths do not rot in a humid environment, which allows you to store the washcloth constantly in the bathroom and not worry about keeping it dry. To knit them, you can use all the nets that come into your home along with products from the market or supermarket, because you can’t have too many washcloths, because according to hygiene rules, only one person should use it. In addition, a handmade item takes into account all the whims and preferences of the owner. Below are several of the most proven options for knitting washcloths.
Crochet washcloths.
Tied washcloth. Tie an ordinary foam sponge (preferably oval or round in shape) with yarn, which is obtained from a mesh for vegetables cut into strips. The strips are cut 4-5 cm wide, preferably in a spiral. Knit in single crochets for greater rigidity of the product. They start tying in different ways: either from the core or from the sides of the sponge. If the vegetable nets are different in color and thickness, then you get a multi-colored “massage” washcloth.
A washcloth knitted only from vegetable mesh. It turns out to be tough, not for everyone, but it has one huge advantage: a knitted rectangular or mitten-shaped washcloth is ideal for cleaning bathtubs and tiles. In many homes this is its main purpose. The big advantage of this quality is two properties: the washcloth does not rust and is not afraid of any cleaning agents or disinfectants.
A washcloth knitted in combination with another thread. It is advisable to use thread made of synthetic fibers (polyamide, nylon, lavsan). The best results using this technique are “massage mittens” - mittens. It is best to start knitting from the bottom. Having cast on an air chain of 5 loops, we close it in a ring. We continue knitting in single crochets, adding another one in each row evenly after 3 loops. So we knit to the desired width of the mitten. Then we knit to the desired height. Can be knitted thumb separately, or you can do without it. For ease of storage, we tie a loop on the side.
Using the same technique, you can knit a regular rectangle and connect it on three sides to get a convenient pocket washcloth. Place a small piece of soap into it when washing.
Of course, there can be many options due to complication: ring knitting, multi-layer knitting, with an additional handle, in combination with fabric. Here everyone is free to do as their imagination and availability of material for creativity allows.
Knitting washcloths from nets for vegetables with knitting needles
Knitting a washcloth from vegetable nets with knitting needles is most successful in two ways: with very thick knitting needles from vegetable nets alone or in combination with another thread. It should be remembered that it turns out to be much stiffer than a washcloth made from plastic bags. In the first case, the quantity meshes are measured in dozens, so it is used extremely rarely. It remains to add that the thread for knitting this option should be wide (from 10 cm or more). The second option is more common and accessible, for its implementation you will need a dozen or two meshes (it is impossible to say more precisely , since this depends on the size of the vegetable nets). An additional advantage of the second method is the strength of the product. It is advisable to use a synthetic thread as the second thread, then the washcloth will not rot, even when constantly in the humid atmosphere of the bathroom. Polyamide (aka lavsan) is best suited for this , nylon) or polyester thread, which is very often used to process the edges of carpets, rugs, etc. It is best to knit in garter stitch (all stitches are knit), complex patterns with capes and braids in this case lose most of their beauty. So that washcloths made of mesh successful, three conditions must be met:
1.Knit the washcloth crosswise rather than lengthwise. This means that the width of the knitting will be its height, which allows the “creation” to retain its originally intended shape for quite a long time.
2. Make the edges of the product more rigid and prevent them from stretching. This is achieved through partial knitting, which is performed as follows: at the beginning and at the end of the row, two or three loops are knitted only in the front row, in the purl the loop is transferred from one knitting needle to another , thread in front of the loops. Knitting from the edge already after a few rows begins to gather and gradually the central part of the washcloth becomes wider than the edge.
3. It is advisable to make a double washcloth, that is, knit two widths of the product with one fabric. Fold the resulting rectangle in half and carefully sew the edges.
All that remains is to sew on the handles, which are knitted from three loops with a cord of the desired length. It is advisable to make the handles on both sides. You can simply tie two separate cords and sew each of them to the side of the washcloth, or you can connect a single cord into a ring and attach it to the edges. In the second case, the cord should be much longer.
The washcloth is ready.
