Board game "Imaginarium": rules and tips. Rules of the game Imaginarium Imaginarium rules of the game read
Historically, the board game took the form of a competition in which the most cunning, the smartest and the most resourceful win. But the hardest thing will be to compete in understanding the art and way of thinking of your opponents. To become the winner of such a game, we need to learn to play with the imagination of our faithful friends. Many of you thought: how great it would be if such fun existed. But in reality it exists. We bring to your attention the board game “Imaginarium”. The rules are further in the article.
External description
Today in our article we will tell you about the amazing, fantastic and vibrant game “Imaginarium”. When you look at the game box, various thoughts come to mind. The first impressions from what we see in the packaging are as follows: there is something colorful, real and even fictional about the game. In fact, this game is exactly that.
As they say, miracles begin from the first seconds of preparation for the game - exactly at the moment when you remove the lid from the box. Underneath it lies the playing field, designed in the form of a starry sky, along which white translucent clouds float, and on them are drawn the numbers of the playing field and the victory points counter. If you look closely at the clouds, you can see symbols on some of them: a crossword puzzle, a TV, sports symbols, a clock, numbers, and so on. But more about them a little later.
Something without which a game is not a game
Amazing fun - “Imaginarium”. The rules of the game are still close to standard. From 4 to 7 people are involved in the gameplay at the same time. The presence of at least 4 participants is an immutable rule of the Imaginarium game.
Game pieces and tokens are painted in seven different colors. Fans of this fun can even have three of them, since the role of the fourth player can be played by one of them. What's inside the game box? It contains 98 cards of unusual size with bright and fantastic, provocative and funny pictures and images. Such illustrations are necessary in order, as they say, to stimulate your imagination.
About goals and meanings
The goal of the game is not only to spend time with joy and pleasure, but also to get the maximum number of points in the process of unraveling what your opponent is up to. Before starting the game “Imaginarium” (the rules indicate this), each player needs to choose one of the figures of multi-colored flying elephants. Yes, yes, you will have to play with unusual pieces - figures of magic elephants. This is normal for this game. Each participant also needs to take tokens in order to vote. These small square cards will be the same color as your bishop on the board.
Start of the game
Whether it’s a regular game or Imaginarium Childhood, the rules of the game initially remain the same. Chips are placed on the very first field for a move - on the starting cloud. Then the 98 cards are thoroughly shuffled. Each participant must be dealt six cards from the deck, and those remaining must be placed in the center of the table. The player who will be the first to start the game process is selected. As a rule, there is only one leader in board games, but not in the Imaginarium game. The rules are written in such a way that the leader is the player who makes the move.
Start of turn
The presenter, looking at the image on the cards, selects and makes an association for one of them. He voices the hidden association, then places the card face down and face down. The remaining players, looking at their set of cards, choose one of them that best matches the leader’s voiced association. And naturally, they are also laid out on the field with the illustration facing down.
After all these actions, the cards are shuffled and laid out face up. Now each player has to guess which of these cards belongs to the leader. To do this, everyone secretly chooses a token for themselves with the number of the card that they consider to be the correct answer. After this, the tokens are revealed and the winner is awarded a certain number of victory points.
The association should be designed in such a way that it is clear enough to the players, but without overt hints about it.
- If the association is guessed by all participants in the game, then it was too simple and understandable.
- If no one guesses the presenter’s thought, then he has overdid it with his imagination.
In the Imaginarium game, the rules are such that in this case the leader is punished: he is given fines. When the turn is successfully completed, the leader and players move forward, receiving victory points.
Examples of unsuccessful associations
If the card depicts a girl in a red cloak or scarlet headdress, then it would be inappropriate to voice the image of Little Red Riding Hood. This association is considered too clear to players. That is, the association with Little Red Riding Hood in this case will be unsuccessful.
If the card shows a bear sitting at a table, and in front of him is a birthday cake with candles, then you shouldn’t make the association “birthday” either.
End of action
When the move is played, the participants take their tokens back, and the played cards with images are discarded. Again, each player receives one new card from the deck. Now the move is available to the next player, which means that he has the right to lead: to make his own association.
End of the game
The end occurs when the cards in the deck and in the hands of the players run out. The Imaginarium rules dictate the scoring at the end of the game. The winner is determined by the maximum number of points scored among opponents. This was the standard (classical) game scheme.
For those who like challenges
At the beginning of the article, we drew your attention to special signs for presenters in the form of a clock, TV, numbers, and so on. The presenter needs to come up with an association associated with this sign. If you decide to play a non-standard form of “Imaginarium” fun, then the presenter makes and voices an association, taking this sign into account.
For example, on the third playing field there is a number 4. This indicates that the association must be made from 4 words. If a TV is drawn on the field, then your association should be associated with a TV movie or a popular talk show. "Imaginarium" perfectly develops imagination and associative thinking.
How the game appeared in Russia
The creators of the game “Imaginarium” once started playing “Dixit”, this is an analogue of the first game. Timur Kadyrov and Seryozha Kuznetsov literally became her fans. They constantly replenished the deck of cards, and then came to the conclusion that it was time to create and patent their own game. This is how our game “Imaginarium” appeared. She is different from her “great-mother Dixit” in many ways. Firstly, Imaginarium is intended for ages 16+, therefore, the creators presented it as a game for adults. Secondly, the playing field has been completely changed. Thirdly, the cards and rules have been slightly changed and supplemented.
Conclusion
Spend more often free time behind this game, and then you can come up with many more associations for the same illustrations. "Imaginarium" is a beautiful and unusual game that gives you a great mood, joy and laughter. After all, the fantastic illustrations on the cards will not leave anyone indifferent. The rules of the game are clear even to children.
There are various additions to the basic package of the Imaginarium game: “Childhood”, “Ariadne”, “Pandora”. The rules of the game "Imaginarium Ariadne" are similar, only the cards with drawings are even more incredible! Rules of the game “Imaginarium Childhood”
Preparation
The number of cards in the deck depends on the number of players (see the table in the Rules). All 98 pictures are taken only with a maximum number of participants - 7 people.
Shuffle the deck well and deal 6 cards to each player.
After choosing a color, each player takes the corresponding tokens and bishop. The numbers of the tokens should also be equal to the number of players: for example, if there are four players, then tokens with numbers from 1 to 4 will be needed.
All elephants are placed on the starting stone of the playing field (number one). The flight of fancy can begin!
Leader's turn and Players' turn
In each round, a leader is chosen. The youngest player starts playing first, and then the right to lead the round will be passed clockwise.
Leading- this is the person whose association everyone else guesses. He chooses one of his cards, places it face down on the table and says his association out loud. Then each participant chooses from among their cards one that best suits what was said and places it next to the presenter’s card, also face down.
The presenter shuffles all the cards and only then opens them and places them in a row. Mentally (or using extra tokens) number the cards from left to right - this will be needed for voting.
What do players vote for? For which particular picture belongs to the presenter. Everyone decides this independently and places a token in front of them with the number of the selected card, number down. Of course, you cannot vote for your picture.
Once everyone has voted, the tokens are revealed and placed on the corresponding cards. The votes are counted and the players' pieces can now be moved to a new stone on the board. Whether your elephant will fly forward, backward, or even stay in place depends on the decision you made:
1. All players guessed the leader’s association - his piece moves back 2 steps, and the rest stand still.
2. No one guessed the leader’s association - his piece moves back 2 steps.
3. In all other cases, the leader’s bishop and the bishops of all players who guessed his card move 2 steps forward.
4. Players under 6 years old do not go back, even if all players have guessed their card or no one has guessed it.
Bonus steps: those players whose pictures were also voted for move their chips forward as many steps as there are tokens on their cards. For example, 2 people voted for the yellow player's card, which means the yellow bishop moves 2 steps forward.
End of turn
Special fields
There are stones with icons on the playing field. If you are the leader and your elephant sits on this stone, a restriction is placed on your association:
Lifeline: if everyone guesses your association, or no one guesses, and you are over 6 years old, feel free to stay where you are! You don't go backwards;
- cat: the association should be connected with any fairy-tale character;
- a book of fairy tales: the association begins with the words “Once upon a time.”
End of the game and winner
The game ends when one player's bishop lands on the 30th stone. The player is automatically declared the winner. But if the cards run out before someone reaches the finish line, the victory is awarded to the one who is ahead of everyone at the moment.
But you can also agree on your own version of the end of the game. Let's say the winner is the one whose bishop reaches the finishing cloud first.
What does the game develop?
Do you think you know your friends as you know yourself? This game will surprise you more than once! You'll see: associations can tell a lot of interesting things about a person and reveal his personality from a completely new side. “Imaginarium Childhood” brings people together, reveals to adults the world of their children from a new side and reminds them that once upon a time all parents were able to fantasize and dream in the same way.
In addition, the game perfectly trains your sixth sense. By thinking about what card the presenter wished for, you will develop your intuition, learn to better understand people and better understand those around you.
And finally, you yourself will have to come up with associations for your pictures. Your imagination will help you a lot with this. The game helps develop imaginative thinking, imagination, attention and creativity.

Delivery is fast. I really liked the game, although the price is high for cardboard game(in a budget version, it would be possible to limit ourselves to one field, without a large box, which is also designed for 4 additional decks in fact)) additional decks are needed for replacement, since the cards wear out quickly, it would be nice to add 1-4 more chips to the supplement for sure)) In general, the idea of the game itself is a bomb, and is designed stylishly, creatively and with humor.
Answer: We are glad that you liked the game) In general, we agree with your opinion, especially regarding additional chips and voting cards; we ourselves often play big company and have already made additional features on their own a long time ago) But unfortunately, this is the bane of most party games where a large number of people can play) As for the add-ons, first of all, they are needed so that the game is constantly new and interesting, because every new a deck of cards is a whole world of incredible illustrations! By the way, the game is not unique of its kind, pay attention to the French original Dixit! The game itself is even more expensive than Imaginarium, but you don’t have to buy it at all basic set, there are also many additions to Dixit, by purchasing which you can safely play with them in Imaginarium, because the whole point is in the cards with pictures) And of course, don’t pass by the game Mysterium, where the game of association reaches a completely different level)

The game is worth the money if you play 4 or more. Special thanks for the fast delivery.
Answer: And even better with extras! We agree about the number of people, the best option is to play with a group of 4-6 people)

The games are very fun, suitable for everyone (children from 4 years old, families, adults of different ages, companies).Than more people plays, the more fun and interesting it is to find out the thought process of individual people.... The cards are all excellent, 18+ are a little gloomy, but with some filter (-20 cards) they are suitable for 14+. Maps can be changed from different sets. There is only one minus: chips with numbers quickly deteriorate because they are cardboard. It is possible, as an option, to release plastic numbers in a road repair kit - although it will be more expensive, but more durable.
Answer: We're glad you liked the game) As for the cards, really, you just have to personally filter what you want to show your children and what not. Because many games are played by children much earlier; the classic Imaginarium is played by children 10 years old and younger. Regarding cards, in the vast majority of board games, cards and chips are made of cardboard; plastic is extremely rare.

Interesting game. High-quality printing. Everyone liked it. SDEK fixed it and damaged the box (
Answer: Glad you liked the game! Please note that there are many additional decks for this! With them you won't get bored with the game for a very, very long time. As for SDEK, it is necessary to check its integrity upon receipt of the goods and if something is wrong, they have special forms that must be filled out and all violations recorded. Games leave us in perfect condition and SDEK is responsible for them.

Association games are always VERY cool, each person comes up with their own and you need to at least know the person for the game to be fun and exciting. But the more often you play this game, the more interesting it seems, due to the fact that the group of players MUST be changed, and the cards are repeated TOO often and already by the third game the player becomes not interested. I wouldn’t say it’s interesting to play with three or four players either, since it’s very easy to study the thinking of your opponents. It’s best to play this game with just six or seven players, then the game seems MAXIMUM full-fledged, but the price seems VERY overpriced to me. In my personal opinion, it is better to play "MYSTERIUM"
Answer: That is why expansions are constantly being released for this game, each of which contains a new deck of cards three times cheaper than the starter kit with the game. Additions, by the way, can be mixed with each other and new rules introduced into the game that would limit associations. In this game, everything is limited only by your imagination, because for each of the cards you can come up with at least 5-6 obvious associations and a dozen more complex ones) By the way, we recommend that you pay attention to the games Emotional Intelligence and Empathio, perhaps they will also interest you
Tatiana
I really liked the game! Even our five-year-old daughter played with us and took second place))) A high-quality, beautiful and exciting game, I highly recommend it! The work of the website and the courier service was also pleasing, so we will order more (and we are big fans board games We already have a large collection). Thank you, success and prosperity to the site!

The game is wonderful!!! From the first minute it became interesting, as soon as the cards were handed out....the quality is super! I don’t agree that the game is intended for ages 16 and up, we played great with children 9 and 6 years old, and enjoyed it like adults , so do children)))) very addictive, I recommend it!
Answer: 16+ due to mention of smoking. There is a girl smoking in the picture. In general, about many games that say 16+, we can safely say that the age limit is 12+, or even 8+. The cartoon "Well, wait a minute" is also now 16+ and can be shown after 10 pm, because the wolf smokes, drinks beer with roach and champagne or cider in one of the episodes.
The biggest stress after buying a game is understanding what the rules say. The only worse rules for games are the instructions for microwave ovens. We decided to make your life a little easier and formulated the essence of the game in one sentence. Here it is:
“You must come up with associations for the selected pictures and guess the pictures of other players based on their associations.”
If you were able to understand what is written in this sentence Imaginarium Soyuzmultfilm, you can relax, you already know how to use this game; Everything that is written below will allow you to understand which of your friends does it better than you.
First of all, prepare your playing deck. Different numbers of players will require different deck sizes. Count out the required number of cards and return the extra cards to the box. For 4 players, leave 96 cards in the game, for 5 – 75, for 6 – 72, for 7 – 98.
Each player chooses an elephant and a set of voting cards of the same color as the elephant. There are seven voting cards. You will need as many cards as there are people playing. If there are 6 people playing, you don't need card number 7.
Definition of the first move.
You must determine who will go first. You can use voting cards for this. All participants take their voting cards, shuffle them and draw any card at random. The one who drew the card with the highest number starts walking first. Any other mechanic can be used to select the player to start first.
Progress of the game.
Leader's move: The leader selects one of his cards, places it face down in the middle of the table and names his association with this card. An association can be anything: a word, a sentence, a poem, a famous quote, or even a unique set of sounds. The leader is limited only by his imagination (unless his bishop stands on one of the special clouds described below).
Players' responses: The remaining players choose from among their cards one card that best matches the leader's association and also place it face down on the table. The presenter shuffles all the cards laid out, including his own, and lays them out in one row with the pictures facing up.
Cards are numbered from left to right: first, second, and so on. Where your left is and where your right is, you will have to determine yourself.
Guessing the leader's card: Now the main task of the players is to guess which of the cards laid out on the table was guessed by the leader. Each player selects a token with their version number and places it in front of them, number down. You cannot choose your own card. The presenter does not participate in guessing and does not comment on the cards laid out on the table. Once all players have made a decision, they turn over their tokens and place them on the corresponding cards for easy counting.
Movement of elephants:
If all players have guessed the leader’s card, then his bishop retreats 3 steps back (or to the cloud with number 0, if he has not yet advanced beyond the third field), and the remaining bishops stand still.
If no one has guessed the leader’s card, then his bishop retreats 2 steps back. The remaining players move their bishops forward as many steps as the number of people chose their cards.
In any other case, the leader’s bishop and the bishops of the players who correctly guessed his card move forward 3 steps. In addition, all players, including the leader, move their bishops forward as many steps as the number of people who chose their cards.
End of turn: At the end of the turn, the played cards are discarded and the players receive one new card from the deck (when the deck runs out, just continue playing the remaining cards in your hand). The role of the leader passes to the next player clockwise.
Special fields.
Some clouds on the playing field are marked with special icons. If the leader's elephant stands on one of these clouds, then restrictions are imposed on its association:
(number 4) – The association must contain exactly four words.
(question mark) – The association must be formulated in the form of a question.
(Abibas logo) – The association must be associated with some well-known brand. It is not necessary to name the brand itself - the association can be based on a slogan, advertising video, etc. Before the game, you can agree on how broadly to interpret the concept of “brand”.
(TV) – The association must be related to a movie, cartoon, series or television show.
(book) - The association should be a story.
Game over.
The game ends when the players run out of cards. The winner is the player whose bishop has moved the furthest. If one of the elephants has reached the last cloud and must move on, it’s okay, just send him to the second circle.
Variation of rules.
The Imaginarium rules can be changed as you please. For example, we suggest trying the following variations:
You can end the game when one of the bishops reaches the cloud number 39.
You can use all the cards in the game, and when the deck runs out, shuffle the discard to form a new deck. And so on ad infinitum.
Permanent restrictions on associations can be introduced. For example, spend a whole game guessing only four-word phrases or stories.
If there are more than seven people who want to play, you can team up in pairs and play two for one.
Additional set of cards.
After a while, you may feel like you know the cards in the deck too well and want something new. You can buy additional sets of Imaginarium cards or use cards from other association games, or even draw these cards yourself.

This is an original and exciting board word game, focused on associations and is a domestic adaptation of the French "". Unlike the original, it is aimed at a more mature and creatively seasoned audience, thanks to its surreal style of images, making the game process more multifaceted.
The number of possible players with all the additions starts from five with one of the main sets and can reach 24 (!) people with all 4 basic sets.
Game process and goal of Imaginarium
During the game, players take turns making associations for a specific card, with the help of which other participants must guess which image is on which card they are talking about. Associations can be anything: words, gestures and pantomime, quotes, excerpts from works of art. If it helps, you can even sing the prompt.
The goal of this game is nominally, by earning points, to be the first to bring your figure to the leading position before the cards run out. In fact, the main goal and task of pastime can be safely called the development of social skills of the people playing it, a deeper study of each other.
Board game Imaginarium: game rules
Peculiarities
Like any word game, Imaginarium is in a wonderful way overcome your shyness and increase your communication skills, learn to understand the thoughts of those around you, and develop your own creative thinking.
All cards in this series are designed by professional designers and artists. The images used can not only be used in the game itself, but you can simply enjoy contemplating them. And individual cards can even be safely used in psychotherapeutic practice!
The Imaginarium series also has both large sets (98 cards with new associations), which can be used as self-contained games, and specialized additions of 98 cards, designed to diversify the process and refresh the feeling of boring cards:
Alternative Basic Sets:
- Imaginarium Soyuzmultfilm - the theme for the set was cartoons filmed in the USSR. Coming up with a connection to just under a hundred frames from childhood cartoons is a task worthy of a person who thinks creatively.
- Imaginarium Childhood - children's theme, suitable for playing with very young players. It helps a lot in developing associative thinking and imagination in children.
- Imaginarium 3D - The main innovation in the set is stereo glasses that create a three-dimensional effect when looking at the cards. The cards themselves repeat the “Odyssey” set. True, the different structure of the cards does not allow them to be added to already purchased sets.
Additional kits:
- Ariadne - the theme is lighter and friendlier compared to other sets.
- Persephone is a more abstract, even contemplative theme. Suitable for experienced players.
- Pandora - the theme of associations repeats the basic set of Imaginarium.
- Chimera - a theme that combines mysticism and horror. The add-on is aimed at adult players.
- Odyssey - cards are a repetition from the Imaginarium 3D set and are intended to provide an opportunity to add associations with them to an existing collection (the set has nothing in common except the name with the addition of the same name to a game of a similar kind, Dixit).
- The road repair set is the smallest set compared to the others. It is adapted for playing on the road, having a folding field for this purpose. For “repairs,” there are elephant chips and voting tokens to replace lost or damaged ones. Three original cards with associations are a nice bonus.
The rules are the same for all sets and add-ons!
Preparing for the game Imaginarium
- The turn order is determined by drawing one voting card. The one who drew the highest value goes first.
- Everyone chooses a figurine (in the Imaginarium their role is played by elephants) and receives a set of voting cards of the corresponding color. All bishops are placed on the playing field, on the cloud number 1.
- From a shuffled deck with images, each participating player is given six cards.
Progress of the game Imaginarium
The one who walks selects one from the cards with illustrations he has, lays it face down and, using any methods that come to mind (the methods can seriously be any, but without self-harm!) makes an association for this picture. The remaining players from their set of cards choose one card, according to their thoughts, that is most suitable for the said phrase, and also lay it face down on the table.
Then the leading player shuffles all the cards laid out and one by one lays them out in a line with the pattern up. Then, all participants, with the exception of the person who made the guess, vote for the card that, in their opinion, most suits the given clue. To do this, players have voting cards with numbers. The numbering of images begins with one, which begins with the leftmost picture card when viewed from the leader’s seat. Voting cards are laid out face down and voting takes place silently. Next, after the votes are distributed, the presenter turns the votes over and counts and distributes points.
- If all players choose the correct card, then the guesser is given -3 points. Other players do not get points.
- If no one chooses the card of the person who made the wish, then he receives -2 points. All players whose images were selected receive 1 point.
- When everyone has guessed correctly except one, they all have the right to receive 3 points each. The person who made the guess also gets 3 points, as well as a point for each vote given for the correct choice.
- In addition, players always receive an extra point if someone votes for their image.
From this we can conclude that the walking player needs to come up with a connection that, on the one hand, can be solved by as many players as possible, but on the other hand, it is not too easy and can be solved by everyone. The best result will be when the hidden association is solved by all but one participant.
Players use the points they earn to move their elephants onto the playing field.
The field also has special fields. If the player whose turn has come discovers that his bishop is on one of these squares, then a corresponding restriction is imposed on his association.
- A crossword in the form of "4" is a verbal restriction on association. The number of words used must be 4.
- Circle with "?" - the hidden association represents a question.
- “Abibas” logo - the association must mention any well-known product or brand
- TV - you need to associate the image with any media product that can be seen on TV. It can be films, cartoons, TV shows, as well as advertising, clips, news.
- An open book - the association of the person who made the wish should be a retelling from a work, a story from life, or composed independently.
- Next, all played cards are discarded, and the players are dealt a new picture from the deck. The right to move is transferred to the neighboring participant.
End of the game
The Imaginarium board game ends after all the associative cards have been used. The winner is the one whose bishop at the end was in the leading position and with the largest number of complete circles.
