According to estimates of domestic and foreign experts, modern primary schoolchildren have recently experienced a decrease in growth rates and functional indicators, and slow development has been noted. The discrepancy between the physical development of first-graders and the requirements puts the child in conditions that approach extreme conditions, and their adaptation process is intense. As a result, by the end of the first year of schooling, the number of absolutely healthy children decreases significantly. The factors affecting the health of schoolchildren (social, environmental, economic and genetic) also include factors in the school environment.
“Health (as defined by the World Health Organization) is a state of complete physical, psychological and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
Human health is a topic of conversation that is quite relevant for all times and peoples, and in the 21st century it becomes paramount.
Today, one of the most important tasks schools in accordance with the goals of modern education reform in Russia is to preserve and strengthen the health of students. Since 2007, this work has been a priority activity of our school. The teaching staff of the school is clearly aware that the effectiveness of the educational process is largely determined by the degree to which the physical and psychological characteristics of students are taken into account. Health, which is understood as an integral characteristic of development, as a high level of adaptation to the environment, is considered by us as the main factor determining the effectiveness of training. Only healthy child able to successfully and fully master the school curriculum. Trying to correct the current situation, our school joined the experiment “Technology for creating a school pedagogical system that promotes student health.”
The school is faced with the task of creating conditions for preserving the health of students, that is, creating a mechanism for creating a health-preserving environment in a general education institution.

The table clearly demonstrates the unfavorable health situation of schoolchildren. According to the results of the analysis, it is obvious that the health status of students is deteriorating and only 10% of schoolchildren are healthy. Over the past three years, the level of healthy students has decreased from 38% to 24%, and the number of sick students has become 76%. School students often experience weakness, fatigue after classes at school and at home, often experience headaches when excited, after physical activity, and also for no apparent reason. Some students experience sleep disturbances, problems with the respiratory system, and quite often a state of tearfulness occurs. All this requires countermeasures, the active formation of attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle among the younger generation, and the restoration of family authority. There is an urgent need to solve this problems, which plays a special role in solving these issues, because it is here that the foundations of a healthy lifestyle, hygiene, and socially acceptable ways of satisfying the basic needs of the individual should be formed.

The development of effective measures to improve the health of children and adolescents is of exceptional importance when organizing the educational process at school. Establishing a harmonious connection between learning and health provides a qualitative shift towards increasing the efficiency of the educational process, that is, implementing an integrated approach to the problem, since this is directly related to learning.
The role of health-saving minutes in an extended day group
Why did we come to the problem of health-saving education? This step was not accidental. The extended day has become firmly established in the life of secondary schools. It should be not only educational, but also health-improving. The main tasks of the teacher of an extended day group are: research and assessment of the health status of students and health reserves in the process of educational activities; formation of an attitude towards a healthy lifestyle; maintaining and strengthening the health of students through introduction to a healthy lifestyle.
In our opinion, health-improving motor activities in the educational process and after-school groups have great potential in this regard.
Doctors, teachers and psychologists have written and are writing about the importance of spending minutes of rest for the physical and mental development of pupils.
Educate healthy person- one of the first commandments of our secondary school. According to V.A. Sukhomlinsky, a good half of the worries and worries about children during the first four years of education are related to concern for their health. “I’m not afraid,” he says, “to repeat again and again: caring for health is the most important work of an educator.”
We will share our experience of conducting various exercises in classes that promote active recreation students.
Our practice has included spending health-saving minutes while doing homework. Since we use special gymnastics for the fingers, eyes, posture exercises, for the muscles of the neck, arms and shoulders, rhythmic gymnastics with musical accompaniment.

Our use of physical education minutes allows us to use the remaining time when doing homework in a much more interesting way and with the greatest effectiveness of students’ educational output, while maintaining a healthy image. After physical education, the children become more active, their attention is activated, and interest in further work appears.
For this work, a school psychologist conducted a rapid survey and gave the following results:
Wellness minutes provide active rest for students, switch attention from one type of activity to another, help eliminate congestion in organs and systems, improve metabolic processes, and help increase students’ attention and activity during lessons.
Effectively conducting exercises with the simplest equipment (jump rope, ball, expander), accompanied by music, introducing students to the world of exercises using situations based on the name of the exercises will turn a 5-10-minute break into a fun and exciting game.
Thus, considering the educational process from the perspective of the role of movements in it, the following has been established:
- movement should be an integral part of any training and education;
- deficiencies in movements reduce the level of physical functions, delay development, and cause difficulties in mastering the school curriculum;
