Labor Code on holidays in January
Article 112 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation lists non-working holidays, incl. falling on New Year's holidays.

Rules for transferring days off
If a non-working holiday coincides with a day off, then this day off is transferred to the working day following the holiday. This general rule, enshrined in Art. 112 Labor Code of the Russian Federation. However, it does not apply to non-working holidays in January. Of the January holidays that coincide with weekends, the Labor Code allows only two weekends to be postponed. This transfer procedure is approved by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation and is aimed at the rational use of weekends and non-working holidays.
Let us explain what this means with an example. With a five-day working week, the employee is entitled to two days off (Article 111 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation). As a rule, this is Saturday and Sunday.

Law canceling New Year holidays for adults.
There are currently rumors that the length of the New Year holidays will be significantly shortened, or otherwise eliminated entirely. Although it is already known that a bill has been submitted to the State Duma, in which Russians have the full right to choose when they take their allotted rest due to the New Year holidays. Regarding the New Year and holidays, it is proposed to leave only January 1 as a day off. What is this connected with? Yes. First of all, with the fact that the country and its economic side, that is, the treasury, annually lose a large amount of profit due to such a long vacation.
