New Year made of wood (58 New Year's crafts). Master class: Painting plywood blanks Christmas tree toys made of plywood
If your new hobby is sawing out various decorative elements, burning or carving wood, then our advice would be to start with a material such as plywood.
There are several significant reasons for this:
Plywood is quite easy to work with.
If you have a good tool in your hands and you start with small figures, then making them will only take you a couple of hours.
The material is universal in use, so you can make literally anything you want from it: furniture, toys, small decorative elements.
All this can be a wonderful addition to the interior of your home.
Features of working with the material
What is a plywood sheet? It consists of several sheets of veneer, which are connected to each other using glue.
Important: plywood can be of different types: based on beech, birch, pine.
Not only the quality of the finished product, but even its structure and color depends on which sheet you choose.
If you are going to cut out various figures using a jigsaw, then you need to choose the highest quality types of plywood.
They are particularly durable, which ensures that the plywood will not crack, ruining the entire appearance of the product at the most unpredictable moment.
If you are going to start working immediately, immediately on the day of purchase, then choose only dry sheets of wood.
They won't break the jigsaw blade every 10 minutes.
To work with plywood, you will need to acquire a number of tools.
In principle, they are always the same for all types of products, so you only need a one-time investment:
- Jigsaw
- Jigsaw files
- Hand or electric drill
- Ruler
- Grinding machine
- Burner.
Framework
If you want to beautifully decorate your home or give an original gift to someone close to you, make a plywood frame with your own hands.
The preparation process will not take you much time, because you just need to get the necessary materials.
Pay attention!
They are standard for all cases, and we have already mentioned them before.
We will offer you master classes on light crafts made from plywood. You can make either a regular straight frame or plan various patterns and figures on it.
First you need to make a template, and after that you can cut it out, trace the contours with a pencil on the plywood and begin the manufacturing process.
This stage is not only the most responsible, but also the most exciting. If you put a piece of your soul into your work, everything will definitely work out. The finished structure must be opened with varnish. Ready!
Doll furniture
This task will be a real test for parents.
Pay attention!
The so-called test of acquired design skills.
The peculiarity of creating doll furniture is that children do not tolerate falsehood at all.
If they see that the furniture is not worked out in detail, and instead of a kitchen stove for your favorite doll you brought an ordinary rectangular block, then you simply cannot avoid serious grievances and childhood disappointments.
The second feature of making such a craft from plywood using a jigsaw is that all this furniture must be carefully worked out with sandpaper or a grinding machine.
Your child will constantly come into contact with these self-made toys, and if the edges are poorly processed, they may get hurt.
Pay attention!
Well, the last feature of crafts made from plywood and the house is that the materials for such furniture must be absolutely non-toxic and normal for constant contact with the child, because he can drag it into his mouth or take it to bed with him.
This is not a simple applique or paper craft, so you need to take the matter seriously, following a whole list of actions that need to be completed.
Carrying out work from plywood
Just as simple furniture is made in detail and then assembled into one piece of furniture, do-it-yourself plywood crafts should be done separately.
To do this, first of all, prepare special drawings of plywood crafts, on which you will specify the dimensions of all parts and their fastenings.
Take a ready-made plywood sheet and attach a paper part template to it.
Trace the part with a pencil and plan out the outline with a jigsaw.
After this, each part must be cleaned with sandpaper or a grinding machine and only then the piece of furniture must be assembled.
When you are done with the entire set, open it with varnish.
Below are different options and photos of plywood crafts. Choose the one you like.

Many people notice that the older they get, the more difficult it is to re-experience that magical feeling of a fairy tale and miracle that always came to us as children on New Year's Eve.
But we're in website We are sure that the New Year's mood will not keep you waiting if you make one of these wonderful decorations for your home and Christmas tree with your own hands. Almost all of them, with the exception of two or three, do not require much time and any special materials - they can be made in half an hour from what is at hand.
Stars made of threads
Wreath made of balloons and an old hanger
In just half an hour, you can make a colorful wreath by purchasing a couple of sets of inexpensive balloons. Blogger Jennifer, the author of this article, recommends straightening out an old hanger, but if you don't have one, a piece of strong wire will do just fine.
- You will need: a couple of sets of balls (20-25 balls of different colors and sizes), a wire hanger or wire, fir branches, braid or a ready-made decoration for decorating a wreath.
Tablecloth made of snowflakes
A delicate and surprisingly festive tablecloth will be made from snowflakes, which we have gotten our hands on since childhood. You can sit down and cut out snowflakes with the whole family, and then lay them out on the table and fasten them with small pieces of tape. A wonderful solution for entertaining guests or just having lunch with the family during the holidays.
Multi-colored hats
The cutest colored hats can be made from leftover yarn, from which you can put together a garland for a Christmas tree or to decorate a wall. Or hang them on a window or chandelier at different levels. Children over five years old will also be great at making this simple decoration. See details.
- You will need: a roll of toilet paper for rings (or regular cardboard or thick paper), scissors, colorful yarn and a good mood.
Lamp “Snowy City”
For this charming lamp, you need to measure a piece of paper around the circumference of the jar with a small margin (for gluing), draw and cut out a simple city or forest landscape. Wrap it around the jar and place a candle inside.
- You will need: a jar, thick paper of any color, maybe white, any candle. Another option is to cover the top of the jar with “falling snow” using a special “snow” spray, which is sold in hobby stores.
Balloons with photos
A great idea for decorating a Christmas tree or as a gift for relatives and friends. The photo needs to be rolled into a tube so that it fits into the hole of the ball, and then straightened out with a wooden stick or tweezers. Small black and white rectangular photographs are suitable, and you can also cut the photo according to the shape of a ball or silhouette (as in the case of a cat in the snow).
- You will need: plastic or glass balls, photographs, various things to fill the ball - tinsel, garlands, coarse salt (for snow).
New Year's lamps
And this miracle is a matter of five minutes. It is enough to collect balls, fir branches, cones and put them in a transparent vase (or a cute jar) and add glowing garlands.
Embers
Glowing garlands, hidden among cones, branches and pine paws, create the effect of smoldering coals in the fireplace or a cozy fire. They even seem to be heating up. For this purpose, a basket that has been lying on the balcony for a hundred years, a nice bucket or, for example, a wicker container for small items from Ikea will be suitable. You will find everything else (except for the garland, of course) in the park.
Floating candles
A very simple decoration for the New Year's table or for a cozy evening with friends during the New Year holidays - a composition with candles floating in a vessel with water, cranberries and pine branches. You can use cones, orange slices, fresh flowers and leaves from a flower shop - whatever your imagination tells you. And as a candlestick - deep plates, vases, jars, glasses, the main thing is that they are transparent.
Snowman on the refrigerator or door
Children will definitely be delighted with this - it’s fast, fun and very simple, because even a three-year-old can handle cutting out large parts. It is enough to cut out circles, a nose and a scarf from self-adhesive paper, wrapping paper or colored cardboard and attach them to regular or double-sided tape.
Snowflakes on the window
Interesting use for a glue gun lying around. In order to glue these snowflakes to the glass, just press them lightly to the surface. For details see our video.
- You will need: a stencil with a snowflake drawn with a black marker, tracing paper (parchment, baking paper), a glue gun and a little patience.
Christmas trees-candies
You can build bright Christmas trees with your kids for a children's party or decorate a festive table with them. Cut out triangles from colored paper or cardboard, attach with tape to a toothpick and stick the resulting Christmas trees into the candies.
- You will need: Hershey's Kisses or any other truffle candies, toothpicks, tape, colored paper or cardboard with a design.
Garland with photographs and drawings
New Year, Christmas - warm, family holidays. And it will come in very handy with photographs, children's drawings, and pictures. The easiest way to secure them is with clothespins, which can be decorated with hearts or snowflakes.
Origami star
Painted spoons
Ordinary metal spoons or wooden cooking spoons are transformed into interesting New Year's decorations using acrylic paints. Kids will definitely love this idea. If you bend the handle of metal spoons, you can hang them on the Christmas tree. And wooden spoons will look great in the kitchen or in a bouquet with fir branches.
Snowman made from a sock
Good afternoon everyone, we continue the theme of crafts for the New Year and today we will make them FROM WOOD. Wooden New Year's crafts can be very beautiful, elegant and convey the spirit of the holiday. Even if you are not a wood carver, you can still make... Beautiful New Year decorations for home or office made of wooden materials(plywood, birch bark, twigs and branches). You can make neat, graceful Christmas trees from birch branches. Make Christmas tree decorations from birch bark with your own hands. Use scraps of boards to make decorations for the New Year's party. A tree is a source of New Year's inspiration and an inexhaustible well of ideas for the New Year. In this article I will show only a few crafts made of wood for the New Year... and you yourself can continue to generate ideas inspired by our photographs.
So, let's see what New Year's wood crafts you will learn to make today. And we will start with small crafts - decorations for the New Year tree.
Christmas tree toys
FROM WOOD
for the New Year.
A sheet of plywood can be sawn well with a jigsaw. This is beneficial to everyone who wants to cut out toys for their Christmas tree from wood. For the New Year, you can choose any template pictures - snowmen, deer, gnomes, fairy houses, angels, Santa Clauses.
The more complex the task, the more interesting it is. Here is an openwork wooden craft for the New Year - an ornate snowflake with figured hole patterns.
For plywood you need a JIGSAW. and you can cut out crafts for the New Year from bark using SCISSORS. So simple and beautiful. You can leave the natural color of the craft, or you can paint the texture of the bark in a beautiful golden color from a spray can.
CUTS of small logs or thick branches can also become crafts and toys for the New Year tree. We cut thick branches into round pieces (a hacksaw or file will help you). It’s better to leave the bark, but if it falls off on its own, then fine.
You can draw a picture on the cut using gouache... or better yet, WITH A BURNING DEVICE. Just like when we were kids during craft lessons, we cut out pictures on plywood, so here you can cut out New Year’s motifs on cut mini-logs.
The very shape of the round cuts of wood can be corrected and trimmed to the desired silhouette. Here is an owl craft made from wood for the New Year that has a figured cut of its head.
You can lay out a picture from the saw cuts and fix the mosaic on a wooden backing (plank, sliver). This is exactly how the New Year's snowman craft was made from wood in the photo below.
Wooden crafts for the New Year can be inserted into plastic New Year's balls, which open like boxes.
Such wooden crafts for the New Year can be painted with gouache and supplemented with various stickers and decorative materials.
From thin branches you can make beautiful snowflake crafts with decor from spruce branches, ropes, ribbons and bright buttons and beads.
Crafts for the New Year
FROM SPINS OF WOOD.
Real large crafts can be made from large cuts of logs. If you are not too lazy to swing a chainsaw, you can decorate your home with these beautiful wood crafts for the New Year.
From saw cuts of different sizes, like from a mosaic, you can lay out entire PANELS with New Year’s motifs. Silhouette of a deer, or a Christmas tree, or a snowman.
Wood crafts
for the New Year
ICE CREAM STICKS.
Now let's see what crafts can be made from BOARDS.
In the photo below you see crafts made from MINI BOARDS - ice cream sticks.
But you can take all these ideas as the basis for large country wood crafts for the New Year - do everything the same but also with a large edged board.
Such large crafts made from boards can become decorations for offices, woodworking workshops and for decorating sales areas.
Below we see an interesting New Year craft made from boards and plywood. Pieces of plywood are used for the hat and face of Santa Claus - and edged or parquet boards are laid in the shape of a beard.
From an edged board you can create a beautiful silhouette of a New Year's fairy-tale house and decorate it with elements made of cardboard painted with gouache.
Below we see more ideas for crafts made from wood for the New Year - a beautiful Christmas fireplace and a Christmas tree made from ice cream sticks.
Craft DEER
for the New Year made of wood.
Wooden boards or ice cream sticks can be assembled into a shield, decorated on the sides with horns with a nose and eyes glued in the center - and you will get a New Year's craft in the form of a deer's head.
Here is another original New Year craft made from a piece of wood. As you can see, chips, debris and branches can always turn into a New Year's symbol.
You can use a jigsaw to cut out the silhouette of a deer's head from plywood. On a thick log we make a SLANDER CUT and glue a plywood silhouette onto it.
A variety of crafts can be made from rough wood. Assemble from pieces of logs, hewn with an ax to give the shape we need.
If you have a carving machine, you can cut out a deer like the one in the photo below. In the picture we see a deer made from a thick wooden shield, but you can make it from regular thin plywood. A beautiful wooden craft for the New Year, you will agree.
You can use a variety of types of wood and materials made from wood chips and fibers - fiberboard (as in the photo below) is also a thin, smooth and durable material for New Year's sawing.
You see in the photo with deer how you can put together a three-dimensional 3D craft from various flat shapes. In each silhouette we cut out grooves (1-2 cm thick) and insert elements into these grooves and slots - thread them into each other.
Using the same principle - we insert a groove into a groove - this voluminous deer head in the photo below is assembled.
Wood crafts
for the New Year
SHIELD and NAILS.
The essence of such crafts is very simple - nails are driven into the shield (in a certain order) and the threads or wires of a New Year's garland are stretched between the nails.
The easiest craft to make is a Christmas tree. Here it is enough to hammer the nails along the silhouette of the triangle. And then the decor and the garland itself will make the craft recognizable - everyone will understand that it is a Christmas tree.
If we drive nails along a more complex contour, we can get interesting complex pictures. For the New Year, we can fill a tree with a silhouette of a deer, Santa Claus, a congratulation inscription, an Angel, a Snowman, a Penguin.
Crafts FROM BRANCHES
for the New Year.
Branches, thick twigs and other scattered material can be used to create beautiful New Year's crafts to decorate the holiday. You can make a false window on your wall (like the photo below).
Below are two photographs with an unusual technique that allows you to make three-dimensional Christmas trees from ordinary willow or birch branches.
- The beginning of such a Christmas tree - circle of branches. We form a ring from several rods (the lower part of the tree).
- Next doing something similar to VIG-VAM(Indian dwelling). That is, we place vertical rods on the base ring - which rise up and cross at the top like the roof of a tent house (we tie the crossed top with a rope).
- And now that we have there is already a base for a “wigwam hut”, all we need is to lay the branches in a circle along the walls of this hut, tying them with threads to the rods of the base of the hut.
The decoration for such a Christmas tree, made from tree branches, can be anything. Choose New Year's decor to suit your taste.
Here's a simple Christmas tree craft made from branches. It is done quickly, but thanks to the box toys and the star, it looks stylish and elegant.
DIY TREES
made of wood for the New Year.
Here is another series of crafts in the form of a Christmas tree made of wood. Here we take thick branches and break them into pieces of different lengths (from short to longest). So that all branches fit into a size range according to the principle of a pyramid.
The principles for assembling such Christmas trees may be different. In the photo below, the Christmas tree is assembled using GLUE.
And here is a Christmas tree craft, the elements of which are strung on a vertical pin like beads, through a hole drilled in thick branches.
Instead of twigs, you can use pieces of bark - below we see a craft where beautiful textured pine bark is used.
The exact same tree can be made from trimmed, sanded wood for the New Year.
New Year's compositions
FROM WOOD.
Here is another series of ideas for quick and simple New Year crafts made from wood. Fragments of branches that are not suitable for creating a Christmas tree (photo above) can be placed on a ring of cardboard, in a chaotic manner, but evenly. And then you will receive a craft New Year's wreath made of wood. All that remains is to add decor or paint everything with spray paint. Or leave the harsh beauty of natural wood.
The wreath can be cut from bark trimmed from birch logs. This wreath can be decorated with pieces of moss, dried flowers, dried citrus slices, pine cones, cinnamon sticks and hawthorn berries.
Thick cuts of small logs can be used as bases for candles. Beautiful natural candlesticks with your own hands.
From the scraps of the board you can make beautiful NEW YEAR STARS.
From a variety of scraps of boards, chips and other wood that is lying under your feet in the woodshed, you can make real New Year's compositions - cute, tender, touching, smelling of New Year's magic.
And delicate crafts are obtained when WOOD is extracted from clothespins. Practical, hardworking, tenacious clothespins have always believed that they were born for something more... MAGICAL... MIRACLE. And on Christmas night their lives changed.
These are the New Year crafts made from wood you found today on our website Family Kuchka. We will still have a lot of interesting and New Year's things. Stay tuned...

New Year's crafts are always nice. Let's start decorating the Christmas tree decoration made of plywood. The main materials for work are a decoupage napkin with images of gnomes and New Year's gifts, a plywood blank in the shape of a ball, and a kitchen openwork napkin. All this can be purchased at special craft stores.
What options for creating Christmas tree decorations with your own hands on the eve of the holidays cannot be found on the Internet. These are products made from paper, from threads and glue, from felt, from corrugated paper and old newspapers. In general, there are a lot of materials for making such crafts and, if you have a specific diagram at hand, then in the end everything will be done quickly and easily. In this material we will give options on how to make New Year's toys from plywood; templates will help you make beautiful New Year's decorative elements with your own hands.
If you want to make stylish and beautiful New Year's toys from plywood, you should find high-quality templates and download them in advance. A large number of different templates that are suitable for these purposes can be found directly in this material and immediately downloaded to your computer from here, so that you can then print it on a printer for work or transfer it directly from the screen to a piece of paper. This wooden decor looks original, and the design is interesting and unusual.
Today, wooden toys for decorating a Christmas tree are rather a rarity. But once upon a time, these were the types of decorations that were most often used for Christmas decorations. Unfortunately, wood was replaced by plastics, but even now, despite all the variety of possible options for New Year's crafts, plywood toys still occupy their own special niche.
Advantages of plywood for making toys
Ready-made drawings of plywood toys can be downloaded from this material, but if you are still wondering why you should choose this particular material, then it’s time to cite important advantages. First of all, Christmas decorations made of plywood are extremely rare today, which means they are stylish and incredibly original. This Christmas tree decoration will definitely not be found anywhere else and will be one of a kind.
I would also like to note that wooden Christmas tree decorations allow you to decorate the Christmas tree to your liking. Even a child can practice such skill and the process itself, not to mention the result, brings a huge amount of positive emotions and vivid impressions. This decor will be relevant for many years in a row. It is suitable not only for decorating a New Year's beauty, but also for doors and windows, as an independent exclusive gift to loved ones.
Another advantage of this decor, which cannot be ignored, is its durability. Do-it-yourself plywood toys do not break when hit or dropped. They retain their shape even in the most difficult stressful situations, where plastic or glass would have failed long ago.
What you need for needlework
This is not the most common type of handicraft, as already noted, so you need to carefully prepare for the work in advance. In particular, you need a sheet of plywood (you can buy it, you can take scraps of cut sheets that were used in construction).
Also, to work, you must have a jigsaw, manual or electric, on hand. You will also need a drill with a set of drills and sandpaper. Plus, to bring the toy to life, you need to buy acrylic paints and acrylic varnish in advance. As additional decor, you can safely use paper, scraps of tinsel, satin ribbons and even ready-made New Year and Christmas images.
Master class on creating a toy
First, we prepare the blank for decoration. Take white POLYCOLOR acrylic paint and a large foam sponge. Dip the sponge into the paint and smoothly swab it over the workpiece. The paint should be applied evenly to both sides of the plywood. If necessary, apply two or three coats of paint.
When the surface is dry, sand the plywood with a piece of fine-grit sandpaper. The workpiece must become absolutely flat - this is the main condition for decorating a Christmas tree decoration.
Remove the top layer from the napkin and tear out the fragments with gnomes. There should be a white paper field around each figure.
Now you can do decoupage on the prepared plywood surface. Place a piece of napkin with a gnome on one side of the ball. Using a small brush with soft bristles, dip into acrylic varnish (HOBBY LINE was used), and then gently brush over the top on a napkin. The varnish will quickly saturate the paper and it will stick to the workpiece. So, the varnish will perform two functions: both decoupage glue and protective varnish. After the varnish has dried, glue the fragment to the other side of the workpiece in the same way.
Next, we create lace details on the plywood Christmas tree decoration. We place a kitchen openwork napkin on top of the decoupage so that you can visually imagine where to make the drawing (you can move the napkin until you like the location). Using acrylic contours of various colors, place dots in the holes of the napkin.
Choose the color of the contours to your taste, taking into account compatibility with the overall composition (HOBBY LINE, MARABU, and DECOLA were used). Such a dotted ornament can be placed over the entire surface of the Christmas tree decoration, or only along one edge.
When the dot painting is dry on both sides, open the decoupage with glossy acrylic varnish. Apply several layers of varnish and dry each thoroughly.
Place a ribbon or thick thread into the hole in the blank and hang the plywood toy on the Christmas tree. Dwarfs with gifts rush to the New Year with
