Before coloring, you should wash your hair to remove excess oil and impurities that prevent the dye from interacting with your hair. Then you need to lightly dry your hair by blotting it with a towel. It is not advisable to use a hairdryer. You can dye your hair in two ways: by mixing both dyes or applying them sequentially, first with henna, then with basma. With sequential application it will be easier to control the coloring process, but it will take a lot of time.

The coloring result depends on many factors

Preparing the solution

Packages with henna or basma must be opened immediately before dyeing. The required amount of powder is placed in a prepared bowl, thoroughly rubbed with a stick until smooth, breaking up lumps. Then gradually add hot water. The water temperature should be about 80°C; you cannot pour boiling water over the powder, otherwise the composition will lose its properties.

Mix everything thoroughly, achieving the formation of a slurry that resembles thick sour cream in consistency. If the coloring composition turns out to be too liquid, it will flow and the hair may be dyed unevenly. If it is very thick, it will dry out before the hair has time to dye.

The resulting solution is cooled to a temperature of 40-50°. When dyeing long hair, to prevent the solution from cooling below the required temperature, you can place the bowl with the coloring composition in a larger container filled with hot water.

Hair coloring

Before you start dyeing, you need to protect your clothes with a cape and wrap your neck with a napkin. Vaseline or thick cream You should lubricate your temples and forehead to protect the skin if the dye gets in and can be easily washed off at the end of the procedure.

The henna and basma solution must be applied as quickly as possible so that the composition does not have time to cool. The hair is distributed into thin strands using a comb with a shank and a thin layer of coloring composition is applied to them. Warm gruel is applied evenly, in small portions. Make a parting 1 cm from the previous one and dye the next strands, then they are applied to those that were dyed earlier. This is how the entire head is gradually treated.

Try not to brush the dye paste onto the ends of your hair, otherwise the roots may not be dyed. Dye your hair strand by strand, gradually. All dyed hair is collected at the back of the head and secured. Cover your head with parchment paper or polyethylene and put on an insulating cap. The difference between basma and henna is that it can only be used in combination with the second component due to its green color. Henna on its own gives various red tones (depending on the original palette).

As a rule, the result after coloring with basma and henna lasts about one and a half to two months. Sometimes there is a gradual change in tone with the palette transitioning to red or blue-violet shades, which indicates the need for repeated correction.

Hair color options after dyeing

When planning to paint yourself with a mixture of henna and basma, you should expect the following results depending on the exposure time:

• Light brown shades. To do this, keep it for no longer than 20 minutes.
• Chestnut. Leave for one to one and a half hours.
• Dark black color. It is obtained by standing for about 2-3 hours.

Be sure to take into account the relationship between hair length and the amount of powder. Possible options (the mass of each component is indicated):

• short hair – 100 g;
• to the neck – 200 g;
• medium length– 300 g;
• to the waist – 500 g.

Important nuances

So that the result of dyeing hair with henna with the addition of basma meets your expectations:

• The components are mixed in enamel or clay dishes, excluding contact with metal.

• If after dyeing there is a slight greenish tint, you should wait a couple of days until the basma is completely oxidized. If necessary, re-dye with henna.

• Mix the components in suitable containers, filling them with liquid at a temperature of 75 to 85 degrees. The finished mixture should have the consistency of thick sour cream; lumps are not allowed. For greater richness of shades, you can add lavender or ylang-ylang oil to basma.
• The curls are washed and combed well.
• Along the growth line, the skin is lubricated with greasy cream or Vaseline to prevent coloring of the skin.
• They completely cover the shoulders to protect clothes from natural dye, since it is not possible to wash it from the fabric.
• Applying the composition using cosmetic brush start from the back of the head, passing strand by strand along the entire length.
• When finished, cover the head with polyethylene and a warm towel.

It is important to remember that coloring gray hair requires a special approach, which involves alternately applying henna to the hair, and then in combination with basma.

If the result still does not live up to expectations and there is a desire to wash off the paint, the following recipes will help:

• Oily hair is treated by rubbing red pepper tincture into it. Keep the mask for about 20 minutes and wash off with warm water and shampoo.
• For normal strands, a mixture of 50 ml of cognac and one yolk is suitable. Apply and leave for one hour, then rinse with water at room temperature.
• For dry hair, a mixture of a couple of egg yolks, 4 tablespoons of castor or burdock oil, and a third of a teaspoon of mustard powder is effective.

Oil masks based on burdock, flaxseed, olive, and castor products also work well. The duration of their exposure is about one and a half to two hours.

Care after painting

• During the first three days after dyeing, the curls are not washed to enhance color durability.
• It is advisable to use for subsequent care and hair washing. boiled water in combination with a mild shampoo.
• To preserve the shade for a longer time, prepare a rinse from 25 g of henna and basma, which are infused in one and a half liters of water. The solution is used only in strained form.
• Additional care for hair after washing is provided by sour milk and curd whey. Effective rinses - mint infusion, apple cider vinegar.
• The transition to exposure to chemical dyes is possible no earlier than after 4-6 months.
• Tinting is carried out by applying the composition only to regrown roots. Full coloring is done only through the procedure.
• Good care for curls after basma and henna are protein-containing masks offered in cosmetic departments.

Compliance with the above tips is the key to long-term preservation of bright color and shine of hair, maintaining its health.

Was it possible to do this without changing your original hair color?
I think not. Masks with colorless henna are good, but they tend to wash off, just like colored henna. Only in the case of colored henna can you immediately see the washing out of the pigment and renew the color, and at the same time the laminating effect. In this case, henna continues to accumulate. And when using masks with colorless henna for the entire length, you can delay the moment when you need to make another mask. In addition, colorless henna, due to its composition and structure, is much easier to wash off from the hair, but I don’t need this. This method is good for girls with natural hair color who do not plan to change it, but want to understand what there is so much hype about on the site. And only then decide for themselves whether they need it or not.

The second point is why I didn’t start with colorless henna. She is not as “omnipotent” as the usual one. The regular one has a more pronounced laminating effect due to its composition. Natural pigments of colored henna make hair thicker, denser, change the hair structure, and have a polishing effect.

So, my first acquaintance with henna took place. I immediately swung at Kajal.

Of course, things were more fun with him. But as it turned out, it’s quite possible to cope without it, unless it’s a cheap sample of henna. It is better to wash off Artcolor immediately with conditioner; it is very difficult to wash it under water. I washed my hair with shampoo the next day.

For example, I noticed that if I pour out the whole bag at once and then add water, I may end up with a too runny consistency and nothing can be done. But if you pour out half of it, add water, and then gradually add more powder, you can vary the thickness of the mixture. Does it seem like you went too far with the powder? Add more water. Oops, we went too far. No problem, because there is still some powder left in the package! I don't like the liquid consistency when it flows down my neck and temples. I like a thick but pliable paste. This is exactly what I usually get, I’ve already gotten my hands on the kneading.

It is very interesting how different the Munira henna color is from the usual henna color. It has a greenish tint, which gives it a special charm, because it contains only lawsonia leaf powder, without additives. It is not advisable to place henna under straight lines. sun rays, this reduces its shelf life. The grind is fine, powdery.

I poured hot water, but not boiling water, and waited until the kettle cooled down a little. I added a cap of coconut oil with a couple of drops of olive oil. Thus, the henna was mixed immediately without lumps and acquired an absolutely smooth surface. I insisted on henna for 3 hours, no less. After some time, a bright red film emerges.

Turns out, butters such as coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter They perform much better when dyed with henna than liquid and lighter oils. I didn’t pay attention to this before, but then I noticed this fact quite by accident. By the way, it was our beautiful henna-bass lady Julia who gave me this idea. After I understood and realized this, I began to give preference to butters; liquid oils stand on the sidelines, but they will also have to be used someday. Applying and rinsing the henna out of my hair was a pleasure. Look at the result!

Absolutely smooth hair.

One hairmaniac even thought that I straightened my hair with an iron) I don’t use an iron, I sold it out of harm’s way. And why do I need it when I have henna?!

I feel more comfortable straight away. This does not affect the degree of hair coloring; the hair is dyed well. But if you apply oil before applying, there is a risk that your hair will be greasy and you will have to walk around with an unkempt head for at least a day or wash it with shampoo after coloring, which is not advisable to do.

This time I added Shea butter. During mixing, grains were found, but during coloring they are not felt, the consistency is creamy and pleasant to apply, does not crumble or flow.

When poured with hot water, after a while a bright red pigment is also released. Moreover, I will show you the pigment released along the hairline. Do you see how the skin turns red? The application is the same as with the previous henna, of course, non-slip and light, like a cream dye, but not heavy either, the henna is distributed quite well throughout the hair. The henna came off easily.

You know, I had the idea of ​​​​buying all the powders that are indicated in the composition, but there are two points. First, I don't know the dosage that was added. Yes, I logically understand that the ingredients are added in larger quantities in descending order. That is, if Basma comes first in the composition, then it was put in the most, and so on. Perhaps someone did not know this, because one can assume that there is simply a listing of what is in the composition. Before I started getting into hair care, I didn't pay much attention to it. The second point is that it is impossible to repeat the technology at home. Therefore, there is only one option - just buy.

A black film appeared quite quickly.

100g of powder mixed with water was barely enough for my length and roots, and in some places they were not painted.

But using more than one package at a time is too expensive and wasteful, so first of all we paint the places that are most accessible to the human eye and only then those that are inaccessible.

Just like the first and second time, I didn’t insist on henna. I just poured hot water in and waited for it to cool. The moment when henna can already be applied in temperature coincides with the moment when a black film stands out. I didn’t waste precious time to capture this, because basma does not like delay, and I wanted a shade that was darker, the better.

It is convenient that this mixture does not need to be kneaded and kept in advance. for a long time, accordingly, there is no need to heat it up, because the mixture would have already cooled down by this time. While the mixture is cooling, you will have time to wash your hair if you are used to coloring wet hair. I washed my hair in advance and did it almost dry, as usual. I didn’t wait for a couple of strands to dry; I don’t think it would have played much of a role.

So what mistakes did I make the first time?
I overdid it with oil, which most likely interfered with the coloring, making the result less durable.
After coloring, I washed my hair with shampoo. Not three days, but you have to wait at least a day. This way the color will show itself better and stick. And here, as they say, the herbal dyes have not yet had time to set, and we are already washing them out.
