DIY postcard for dad step by step
Making a frame with a cover
Prepare two rectangular pieces of light green and dark green cardboard. You can use a whole sheet of A4 paper, it will turn out pretty big postcard. Or half of the paper, which will make a medium-sized card.
Cut an inch off each side of the light green cardstock. Or two centimeters on both sides at once. If the card is large, you can cut off up to 2 cm on each side. As a result of these actions, the card will subsequently have a border that complements it.
Fold light green cardboard in half. Draw two parallel lines from the fold side, in the very center. Cut them.
Fold the cut area up and press.
Open the cardboard and redirect the cut part to the middle. Close the card and press so that all the folds fall into place and subsequently the card opens and closes easily.
Now we proceed to the application - displaying a football field with gates on a green background.
To do this, cut thin long strips from white cardboard.
At the first stage, glue them along the edges of the card.
Then glue in the form of rectangles: larger and smaller. If desired, you can also glue a semicircle next to them.
Glue the light green cardboard to the previously folded dark green cardboard, making sure the folds meet. The base with the cover of the card for dad is ready.
Making a soccer ball
Most best way- this is to print the ball according to the template. For example, this one.
Alternatively, you can redraw the ball or try to draw it.
- To do this, you first need to cut out a circle from white cardboard so that its size is slightly larger than the stand that we made at the first stage of creating the postcard. Well, in general, the ball should look harmonious on the created football field, not be very small, but not too large.
- Cut out a circle and draw a hexagon in its center.
- From three faces, draw similar shapes, only with five faces.
- After this, complete the pattern and round the lines a little.
- Color the lines and some of the pentagons black, as in the photo.
The ball is ready.
Glue it on the stand and you'll get this cute card for your football-loving dad.
The card can be given for any father's occasion, be it a birthday or Father's Day.

Souvenir paper ball
We suggest making a voluminous homemade soccer ball together with your children. Of course, with such an attribute you cannot organize professional fights or even backyard competitions, but such a craft will come in handy as an original souvenir.
Regular soccer balls are made from genuine leather or high quality synthetic materials. A homemade ball will not be so durable, however, this is not required from the souvenir version. We suggest gluing original craft from paper.
Taking advantage of the master class on making paper attributes, you will not be disappointed with the result. You will get an exact copy of a soccer ball. You can choose the size of your craft yourself - just increase or decrease the size of the template.
Necessary materials for crafts
To make a paper ball you will need the following:
- several thick sheets of white paper (cardboard will not work!);
- a couple of sheets of orange (blue or black) color;
- PVA glue;
- some cardboard (for making templates);
- scissors;
- ruler;
- a simple pencil and eraser.
Step-by-step description of the work progress
- Draw 2 shapes on the cardboard: a hexagon and a pentagon. In this case, the distance between the opposite corners of the hexagon should be 9 cm, and for the pentagon - 7.5 cm. Cut out the templates along the contour.
- After the templates are cut out, attach them to the paper and draw the required number of details. You need to draw 20 hexagons on white paper, and 12 pentagons on colored paper. After all the details have been outlined, use a ruler to draw additional lines around each figure, departing from the main contours at a distance of 1 cm.
- Next, use scissors to cut out all the parts (along the second contour) and make additional cuts in each corner.
- Fold the edges inward.
- After this, you can proceed directly to assembling the model. To make the ball round, you must adhere to the basic requirement: there must be 5 white hexagons around each colored pentagon. To begin with, you can lay out the parts on a table (flat surface), and then start gluing them together.
- Continue gluing together the white and colored pieces in the established order.
- After you glue the last piece, you will have a real ball! When preparing templates of the specified sizes, a paper souvenir is even obtained with an identical diameter to a real football attribute.
Simplified version of a soccer ball
A round ball can be made not only from a large number of paper blanks, but also from a cut out proposed diagram. Making a round craft in this way is even faster and easier. The only condition is the availability of copying equipment (printer).
Print out the diagram of the ball on white paper:
You can choose either a scheme with already drawn black pentagons or a completely white one. In place of the central parts, you can glue cut out pentagons of any color you like.
It is worth noting that the size of the finished craft directly depends on the size of the printed diagram. If you want to increase the size of the ball, then the printed material should be increased several times. And vice versa: for a small ball, a diagram on a regular A4 sheet will be enough.
A copy of a real football attribute will be great for friends and football fans. Paper volumetric craft Will decorate a child's room or a teenager's corner.

A voluminous paper ball will be an excellent decoration for a young football player’s room. After all, it looks so much like a real soccer ball. The admiration of friends is guaranteed. And if this ball is made independently, then even more so, authority is ensured. How to make this interesting, wonderful craft? In our article we will offer you several ways to make a ball from paper. Of course, we will not be able to describe in detail all the manufacturing methods, and therefore we will focus on one, but, in our opinion, the most optimal one. A ball made using this method is more durable than other options for making a ball from paper. You can familiarize yourself with other, no less interesting types of making a paper ball in the video supplements to our article, and, based on this, choose the best method for yourself.
Making a ball from paper
To make a soccer ball out of paper with your own hands, you will need five square sheets of thick white paper and two square sheets of colored paper, tape, a ruler, and a pencil. Sheets of paper must be the same size and thickness.
White segment modules
First we make white modules.
We take white sheets of paper and, fold them in half and cut along the fold line. We get ten rectangles.
Take one rectangle.
Fold this rectangle in half lengthwise.
Bend one corner of the rectangle so that its top touches the fold line.
Left side bend the rectangle, forming a corner at the bottom, align the bottom of the rectangle with the fold line.
We turn the workpiece over to the other side and bend the left side of the craft to the right along the edge of the triangle (in the place indicated by the pointer) that was formed on the workpiece.
It turns out like this.
Let's cut them out. We discard the cut edges of the rectangle and set the triangles aside. In a similar way, you need to cut triangles from the remaining squares. We will get twenty triangles.
Take a paper triangle.
We bend the top of the triangle to its base so that it touches it.
Then fold it again, in the opposite direction, so that one of the sides leading to the top is parallel to the fold line.
Then, from the corner of the new descending top, draw a dotted line, as shown in the photo.
Bend the corner along the dotted line.
Fold the outer part of the corner in half, aligning the borders with the folded side.
Draw a dotted line and bend the remaining free part in half, focusing on the boundaries and folds of the previous parts of the triangle.
Then we bend it with the side leading to the top, parallel to the fold line.
"Pocket"
There is a “pocket” in the middle of the workpiece.
We tuck the “tail” of the triangle inward. We get this figure.
We bend the corners of this figure towards the center. The hexagonal segment of a paper soccer ball is ready.
Blank segments
Using the method described above, we prepare the required number of white segments of a paper soccer ball.
Colored segment modules
Square sheet of colored paper
Take a square sheet of colored paper.
Fold in half, smoothing the fold line with your fingers.
Using a ruler and pencil, divide the folded sheet of paper into three equal parts with lines.
We cut the blanks along the drawn lines and folds. Repeat the action for another sheet of colored paper. We get twelve identical rectangles.
Take one rectangle and fold it in half.
Draw a diagonal dotted line along the folded fragment using a pencil and ruler.
Bend the upper part of the workpiece along the dotted line.
We bend the protruding part of the rectangle, as in the photo above, aligning it with the fold line.
Fold the right side of the craft downwards along the dotted line. This way you will align both folds.
We lower the upper single triangle down and observe the protruding part of the workpiece on the left.
We bend it downwards, aligning the edges.
We turn the workpiece over so that at the top there are two leaves that are not connected to each other.
Bend the top sheet down, aligning the corners.
Turn the craft over 180 degrees and fold the top part in half, with the top towards the fold line.
We unfold and fold again, but on the other side.
We hide it in our “pocket”
Unfold the folded piece of paper and hide its edge in the “pocket”.
We get a kind of rhombus. We make marks along the fold lines.
The right corner of the diamond is aligned with the left mark. We smooth the fold line with our fingers until a stable fold border is formed.
We perform a similar action from left to right.
It turns out this is the figure.
We remove the bottom corner inside the “pocket”. We get this triangle. We outline the fold lines, aligning the two lower vertices with the marks.
Align the right corner with the mark. We lower the left one down to the fold. The pentagonal segment-module is ready.
Using the method described above, we produce the required number of segment modules.
Assembling a ball from segment modules
"Mosaic"
We take multi-colored segments and begin to assemble them like a mosaic, sticking them into each other. You should start by sticking the white module into the colored one. The colored module should be in the center, surrounded by white modules.
Around one colored module there should be five white modules fastened together. Only the first and fifth white modules will be unfastened. They should be fastened together using the following color module.
Bonding happens like this.
When assembling the modules, place the craft so that the vertices of the pentagons are at the top, and their wings “look” in different directions. This is a must. Otherwise, the assembly of the modules may fail and you will not be able to assemble the ball. During the assembly process, be guided by the first principle. Fasten the white segments around the colored one, and fasten the first and fifth white segments, in turn, with the colored one.
To prevent the modules from falling out of each other, it is necessary to glue the craft from the inside with tape. The most difficult thing in this situation is to finish the craft. Carefully fasten the modules together. The last modules can be secured with tape on the outside (in small pieces) to give the craft strength. The ball is ready. You can see how wonderful it turned out in the photo at the beginning of the article.
