The power and importance of a talisman doll for pregnancy. Pregnancy amulet - what are they and how do they work? DIY Novgorod pregnancy doll
Description of Ganna:
We make the doll itself on a twist, but in the apron we put a birch bark pencil case (cylinder) in which the Diaper lies.
I'll try to explain how to make an apron. We take the width of the apron 3 times wider than necessary, i.e. like 3 lengths of birch bark pencil case. Stepping back approximately 1 cm from the top edge of the apron, on the wrong side we place a birch bark pencil case with a diaper parallel to the top cut of the fabric. Next, you need to fold the sides of the apron into the middle, while covering our pencil case - you get an apron folded in 3 layers.
Now, as usual, we tie the apron inside out, i.e. We put the apron with the pencil case from the waist on the doll’s face, tied it with a belt, lowered the apron with the pencil case down “to the feet” and again with the same belt we tied the apron to the waist under the pencil case.
Description of Fafani (and photo of her doll on the right):
Personally, it seems to me that it is better to replace birch bark with cardboard, magazine, or thick paper. You can make a pencil case for a baby in different ways(info from Arkhangelsk courses).
I did this - I rolled the birch bark (or cardboard) into a tube and wrapped it in a small, separate piece of fabric, tucking the edges to the side. I secured the fabric with thread - along the edges and a cross in the middle of the pencil case.
The apron is tied as usual, and a belt is inserted into the pencil case and tied on top. Then the baby is inserted into the pencil case.
Description of Leshka.
Maternity-pregnancy
The doll existed in the Tula region. It was conveyed by Irina Vladimirovna Agayeva.
This is the image of a pregnant woman. She wears dull clothes so as not to attract attention, to protect her red chest from the evil eye, and an apron to protect her belly, which contains children. Children are baby dolls.
Elbow doll. Sometimes it was given as a wedding gift.
1. The base of the doll is linden bark, and now it can be a newspaper or magazine 25-30 cm high. We twist the base, tie it in 3 places: in the middle - the line of the abdomen, the top line of the neck, below - the line of the legs. We wrap the resulting column with light fabric and also tie it in 3 places.
2. Put on the petticoat. We take a piece of white or light-colored fabric (25-30 by 30 cm), fold the top edge and apply it, shirring it, to the post, secure it with threads under the neck line. The smell from behind.
3. Making the chest Take squares of red fabric (10 by 10), put in a rag, tie in knots, apply to the neck line, securing with thread.
4. We put on the overskirt (30 by 30 cm). Gathering a piece of dull fabric, we apply it to the post. – smell from behind.
5. Make an apron, measuring 10 by 25-30 cm.
6. Making a belt. To do this, we fold a thread 60 cm long into several folds. We tie knots at the edges.
7. On the apron we put a belt, a white or white-earth diaper 10 by 10 m. Birch bark or newspaper measuring 7 by 10 cm, then children and another diaper. We wrap, twist everything, tie it under the chest, wrapping it with a belt several times. The children are wrapped in an apron.
8. Making horns Take a long (5 by 25 cm) piece of ribbon, tie 2 knots on it, so that they are located at the doll’s temples. We tie it on the doll’s head.
9. We put on a scarf, tie it back, above the chest.
10. We put another scarf on top, leaving the ends down along the body. It is not necessary to do this. Top scarf side 35 cm.
11. There can be one or two children.
Girl. Take a white rectangular piece, bend it in half, and put a ball of rags in the middle. Select the head by twisting the neck with thread. We straighten the edges - the handles and bandage the waist. We straighten the skirt.
Boy. Take a white rectangular piece, bend it in half, and put a ball of rags in the middle. Select the head by twisting the neck with thread. We straighten the edges - the handles and bandage the waist, then wrap the legs.
Additions from iraaa
Belly tummies are made in three different ways (as told):
the first (my doll is made according to this option) - a rectangular piece of birch bark is rolled up into a pencil tube and tied on both sides with red thread. One diaper baby or several are placed in a pencil case. Wrap the pencil case in a long strip of fabric (in the center along the width), tie the pencil case to the doll with the ends of the fabric, like a belt. The color of the piece of fabric should be the same as the apron. The baby is not visible from the side
second (a doll was made according to this option Fafani) - the same pencil case, tied around the edges with red thread, is wrapped in a piece of fabric equal to the width of the pencil case + hem allowance. They tie it with a red thread or a strip of fabric along the left edge, move diagonally to the right edge, wrap it and return to the left - you get a cross-shaped winding. A red belt is passed through the pencil case, a swaddled baby is placed inside (you can see it from the side) and the pencil case is tied with a belt to the mother doll.
third, dolls I.V. Agayeva, whose description Leshka found (it imitates the structure of the uterus) - a piece of fabric and a birch bark rectangle (uterus) are placed on the upper edge of the front side of the apron strip (the apron protrudes 1 cm on each side of the birch bark). The apron fabric should be double-sided and cross-striped. A piece of soft tissue (placenta) and pebbles (one or several) are placed on a birch bark rectangle. Moreover, they are differentiated by gender (legs or skirt). The middle of the red belt (umbilical cord) is laid and everything is twisted together. The apron allowances are folded inward and the tummy is tied to the mother with a belt.
I collected information about this doll from the forum - www.supersadovnik.ru/hmforum/post.aspx?id=458740&pg=46.

Yeah....The description of the Motherhood doll is exactly the same as mine. The one that I give in my distance learning course “Dolls of Women’s Destiny”.
Leshka, where does the description come from?
Then we talk about the fact that the dolls belong to the people, what do you think?
Can you explain why?
Natalya, maybe we should also have a board of shame, a black list of dishonest people?
In one fell swoop my work, the works of Agaeva I.V.
Vilen, where is the dishonesty? :-))
I already find, for example, my Primrose in books on dolls: not only is it not indicated that I am the author, but it is not indicated at all that the doll is the author’s. It goes like a traditional folk one. And the description is naturally mine. Well, that's great! Dolls go around the world, this is great!
We all work, some as an ethnographer, some as a master, and all at the same time as those who distribute information to people. That's how it should be, in my opinion.
Natalya, the dishonesty is that these are copyrighted materials, in particular mine.
And just with one movement of the hand it was copied and transferred to the site.
I will send the original to you personally.
If a person recorded his own material, his own work, that would be great, but why someone else’s?
After all, I have an agreement with my students, all materials are for personal use ONLY.
This is where dishonesty lies.
Natalya, I insist on the removal of my copyrighted material from the site, this causes me material damage. The material was used without my consent.
By the way, I would like to understand where the link leads?
Also Natalya, I think that something is wrong when a person hides his first and last name.
Who is K.? Who is L.? I don't understand.
I can’t leave this whole thing to chance. IN THE VEDAS - the oldest record of ancient knowledge, there is a record that a person is obliged to defend his cause. I follow and learn to follow the commandments of the Vedas, at least in what I can for today.
Vilen, I don’t quite understand something - what are the author’s materials when WE ARE DOING PEOPLE’S DOLL??? Well, the text is written here - you made up the letters with each other, so what?.. Of course, I can rewrite it in other words, but this is complete nonsense!
I see that the key word here is YOUR MATERIAL INTEREST. This is the problem that the Celt wrote about in her article about the masters. You want to delete the description - I won’t do this - I hate the combination of “folk doll - and - material interest”. I believe that these concepts are incompatible, and I will stick to this.
The Vedas do not need to be attributed here. Don't let someone steal from you - very true. But in this case, you are appropriating someone else’s property - the general folk culture - and you are advocating that only you have materials on some dolls, only you pass them on, and your students do not distribute it. I repeat - COMPLETE nonsense. What kind of folk culture is this???
Folk culture is DISTRIBUTION IN THE PEOPLE. And no one has the right to appropriate general knowledge to themselves. Otherwise knowledge will die.
All this is extremely unpleasant - the conflict is obvious, apparently it has already matured. But I will defend the openness of folk culture and knowledge about it. And continue to publish materials - for everyone, and not for the select few who got to class.
I will be very sorry that the information on many dolls will apparently simply disappear - because the masters did not give them away, they appropriated them for themselves. Well, what to do? We have no power over the conscience of other people - the main thing is that people continue to create and invent. We will develop, look for dolls, and invent new ones. Write about them, distribute them. Whatever takes root is what is popular.
You say that many go to classes only for information, so that they can later make money from dolls. What are you doing yourself? You make money from dolls.
Is it really possible to make money from this?
Previously, everyone knew how to weave baskets, and if they bought something from the outside, it was something unique. But the masters who created unique things worked like everyone else - in the field, preparing firewood, etc. Just to weave baskets and earn money from it is from the realm of fantasy.
So everyone has to make the dolls themselves. A person came to study - of course he paid for the classes, learned, and left. What he will do next - make and sell works, teach others - is no longer the teacher’s concern. If a student said something in the teacher’s words - well, thank God - he didn’t distort it, that means.
Dona, very correctly written. We are not talking about an author's doll, but about a folk one. How much can these concepts be confused? No one encroaches on the author's dolls, the author's right to control their fate. And folk dolls belong to the people. And designer dolls can also become popular.
Natasha, I do not appropriate knowledge.
This is an article and nothing more.
I will be glad if Leshka writes about the doll herself, as she understood, and does not copy.
I happily read articles from Agayeva’s seminars that I attended, because I myself didn’t understand something, missed something, didn’t catch it - it adds quality and helps me see my mistakes.
Okay, I am not against publications, but with the indication of the author of the article. Or does this also prevent the spread of folk culture?
Folk culture is precisely its reflection.
If you present a presentation from the Kama region courses now, will this not entail consequences?
Look, they give a lot of dolls for good luck on the Internet, but are they all original materials? Is anyone against it? I'm for it!
Is it possible to copy my article? So I have the copyright for this course.
Create your own, and it will be your course and your original materials.
Natalya, yes, there is interest, but it’s only then that I give the materials in class so that they can compare notes and don’t forget or distort them.
Others do not provide such materials to accompany their classes. As you remember, that’s fine.
I always tell my students - write your masterclasses and exhibit them.
Natasha, ask, find out from other teachers how many students teach and from whom? I think that I don’t lock knowledge away; many of my students pass on knowledge themselves.
Do it yourself, I help a lot of people with advice and materials, and by the way, I always share ideas.
And in order for my author’s materials on the doll to be exhibited, you need to at least ask.
True, why not ask:? Maybe not the precedent with the doll made of braids, which was exhibited by Lyubov Starinova? Someone stop her? In my opinion, she walked politely. At the same time, she could not have asked me, but asked Agayeva. She posted her masterclass and it is useful to everyone.
There are many workshops on the Internet, but people made them themselves without worrying about repeating letters and sizes, and that is their contribution.
I can also add that at Agayeva’s seminars I also always say that publications are under an agreement with her.
She will also be happy to help and tell you. But no one is especially eager to check with her and call her, or to conduct her seminars either.
By the way, I also conduct them for personal gain - to learn. And it benefits everyone.
It's like some kind of dream.
I’m talking about my own article, and they tell me that the doll is the property of the people. And I’m not against it, I’m talking about it too.
I'm talking about the law of our country, which takes into account the rights of the author.
And they tell me - you are using someone else's...
So maybe we can leave everything now? Let the dream continue.
One day they will do the same to you, although... there has already been a revolution and the experience is alive, everything around is popular - everything around is mine.
However, I've had enough, thank you teachers. I’m going to patent my program and there will be conversations in case of copyright infringement through my lawyer.
I’ve already been accused of loving money, why should I give up money? I think additional income according to the law is pleasant and there is no need to enter into controversy with anyone.
Otherwise I want to think and create new books, but my energy goes into battle.
It’s stupid - we’re the only ones on the site, and no one else, but we’re fighting like enemies. :-) Vilen, don’t be offended, you’re right in many respects: if you look, then, for example, I can say that none of the masters (at least on the rukula) publish materials. You are the only one who sometimes appears here and writes something. People publish something on their blogs, often in their own way, but most often these are just those who take courses.
Surely many recognized masters have websites and blogs; if you know the links, post them! Maybe there are some materials on dolls there? We will collect them - with links to the authors.
I’ll now add to the article that this is your text.
What I suggest is to focus on action. We need to write a sequel to the book, we need to transfer course materials into text format from presentations, we need to add diagrams and photos from the Doll Chest to the website... There’s a lot of work to do, so we don’t have time to do anything.
So phew, make some noise and it will happen. :-)) As they say, what's a wedding without a fight? :-))
Now peace-friendship - AND FOR WORK! :-)
Dear women, help me understand the issue of the Maternity-Pregnancy doll. According to Vilena, Leshka described her designer doll word for word. Leshka has it written “Maternity-pregnancy. It happened in the Tula region. It was conveyed by Agaeva Irina Vladimirovna.” If it existed in the Tula region, according to Agayeva, then it cannot possibly be Vilena’s own. It is possible that the author is unknown. And I also think that when we are taught something at school, university / which in Russia we also have to pay now /, it is not so that we do not apply our knowledge, but so that we share it, use it in life and, if possible, taught others. Of course, I agree that when someone else’s material is used, then the minimum of decency is to indicate the author, which is what Leshka did. Maybe I didn’t understand well and I’m wrong, that’s why I ask you to clarify about the Maternity-Pregnancy doll.
Yes, no! Doll of Agayeva Irina Vladimirovna.
I created the description for the course, it belongs to me as an article.
This did not make the doll original.
Anyone can do this work, but not noticing a person’s work in creating an author’s course and description is disrespectful, to say the least.
I already think that this is part of our folk culture - not noticing the work of others...sad.
I hope that our polemic with Natalya will benefit others in understanding, otherwise it will all be in vain.
After all, they write abstracts and publish them on the Internet, but no one can present anything to them, because the work has been done and something new has been created. That is, the person passed it through himself, worked through it, and did not just use and copy it.
Thank you very much to everyone for the discussion, you helped me realize that I really taught many people through our book, CDs, website and courses, so I do not accept the presentation that I am clamping down on the material. Sorry.
Apply knowledge, live with dolls, but in such a way that you are not ashamed of the ripped off materials.
I confess, I went through this myself, asked for materials from the Kama region courses, they did not do me any good, and they lie like ballast. I AM SHAMED AND EMBARRASSED, I FEEL THAT THE INFORMATION received IN THIS WAY did NOT bring me knowledge. Only those that I myself learned in courses. This is my sad experience.
I don’t know how else to explain... So I took courses in the Kama region and received a certificate. Now my knowledge of dolls is on course. But I do not have the right to display the training material of the course - this is the property of the courses.
But I can create my own material based on what I took, and teach and teach using my product - my presentation or description. Has the doll I learned become my own? No Have I violated the rights of the courses? No.
I studied at the university, I received a diploma, can I appropriate a copy of a textbook and say that I created it, this is my work?
My work will be a diploma or dissertation or a new textbook.
Sorry, I'm somehow tired.
I will then take my leave.
I told and shared what I learned about fevers.
Good luck in creating the MOTHERHOOD doll.
They haven’t already made an idol out of it, they say, as soon as you make it, you’ll get pregnant.
Write your reviews, what happens, ask questions.
Vilen, yesterday I didn’t respond to this opus:
“I’m going to patent my program and there will be discussions in case of copyright infringement through my lawyer.”
But you know, I can’t help but answer. After such a statement... Even if it is not serious yet, this is already a bad and alarming sign.
I thought well and realized that I couldn’t write a second book with you. What exactly and when you will patent - I don’t know and can’t predict.
You know, I bought equipment (expensive, by the way) and a program for drawing doll diagrams.
So the situation turns out like this - erase all the patterns of the dolls (both for the Chest and new ones). If you need them for training, hire an artist and let him draw. Otherwise, communication through a lawyer.
I will prepare other materials for the book myself, as I see fit. I hope you release a book too, it will be very good. But not together, sorry.
It’s strange, I didn’t write about the book, these are our agreements and I never had any complaints against you, I’m glad that we worked and always understood each other, trusted each other and I didn’t regret it in any case.
I wrote about my school and about my program, which I will patent, that's for sure.
This has nothing to do with the book.
That would be it.
I learned at an educational institution, from a textbook, and when I learned, I would appropriate it for myself.
I don’t understand why the battle is going on.
There have never been any complaints against you in any way. Our agreements according to the previous book do not change, I don’t worry about this, it’s already in the past and I don’t hold on to it, everything was given for the good and thank God.
All correspondence related to the material about Pregnancy, so you, as always, showed decency and signed that the description was made by me, the issue is settled.
Vilen, I wanted to clarify that my complaints are not against you at all, but much deeper and broader, so don’t take everything personally. :-)) You just showed up here - and based on the example of communication with you, a discussion emerged. And so - everything is much deeper here, I just expressed my position.
Look at the book, try to find another co-author and artist - I’m not the person with whom it’s right for you to write a book now, as it seems to me. :-) I already said that I will give everything away and I can’t do it any other way. I cannot distribute trade secrets to such materials. :-) Otherwise I'm not me.
It’s very sad to read such texts - it’s good that they posted it. Much has been clarified.
Nowadays, many people are drawn precisely by their soul, and they come to classes not “for the scheme,” but for communication, to be in a community of like-minded people, to be “in the field” of the teacher.
But it is impossible to make money from this - to make a doll you need an impulse of the soul, otherwise it comes out empty.
And those who make money - there are author's versions based on folk ones, they cannot preserve the doll without a soul - knowledge is lost.
Natalya, thank you for passing on your knowledge - it’s really needed now.
That’s why we left the discussion for now - this is not Vilena and I discussing, this is our common topic - alive - for so many.
I have a question about the doll. What are the hanging ends of the red fabric? I have two options - either when the breast is tied, the ends remain free, or when the horns are made / But in reality, how? I left the breast, it makes the back more neat - you can’t see how the skirt was tied, but doubts gnaw at me...
Judging by the fact that the size of the flap for the chest is 10 by 10, and for the horns - 5 by 25 cm, these are ribbons most likely from the horns.
If anyone has a photo of the doll from the back, please show me!
Making the chest Take squares of red fabric (10 by 10), put in a rag, tie in knots, apply to the neck line, securing with thread. This is how the breast should be made according to the description. And in the photographs, the chest is made of a continuous twisted strip. So the ends of this strip are probably visible. If the roll is 25-30 cm high, and the ribbon from the horns is 25 cm, and even tied in knots, it will not be so long. Sorry, I'm tired of you with my questions, but....
Yeah... according to the description, yes, there are nodules on the chest, and in both photos there is a ribbon...
I think the photo of the doll from the Arkhangelsk courses can be trusted - that means it existed different options.
And apparently you are right - in this version (where the chest is a ribbon) the tails at the back are from it.
But are there such tails in the version where the chest is knotted?..
Hello! I read the correspondence and thought how good it was that most of the kind and open people(without patents), share their knowledge and experience! I wanted to make a doll for my daughter, I went to one group, and they invited me to courses. Those who need courses will come, but in this way, so that when a person needs it urgently and not to make money (although this is also correct, someone wants to buy, but can’t do it, it’s good that they sell). Thank you to everyone who shared your wealth of knowledge! Thank you!!!
Vilena You are not behaving very nicely. This is not your doll! Don’t take it for yourself, but be proud that your text was shared and thanks to the admin, people from other regions learned about you. Tell her thank you for the fact that your name was not forgotten as a teacher.
Thank you very much for your help in obtaining valuable information about MK on the doll. I read all the correspondence from the site’s creators. I don't think patents have anything to do with it. The basis of the doll is folk. Perhaps the base was restored by one of the people, but all the rags, the combination of them, that’s for sure, the author. It’s like the artists. He painted a picture and exhibited it in the museum. The whole world learns from his work and makes copies. It is clear that the master’s hand is immediately visible. And this is the only way the art of painting spreads, including our folk art, the national heritage of making dolls. I am very grateful to everyone involved in this. Low bow to you! I'm not a master, I'm just learning. I'm retired, I can't afford the courses. Although I am a volunteer and teach children in a rural club folk dolls. The kids like it. And so that they pass on this knowledge to their generation, it is worth working like this. You are for us, we are for them!
Well... your last visit to the doctor did not reveal anything new - you have no obstacles to pregnancy, and the baby is still in no hurry to appear. And you brewed useful herbs, and you drew goldfish and put them under your pillow, and you even learned to embroider in order to create “Almost Perfect”... And a miracle is still on the way. Or maybe you shouldn’t go too far in search of help? It’s not for nothing that they say that amazing things are nearby. Feng Shui is truly an amazing philosophy, but its roots are still not completely clear to us. And foreign embroideries sometimes do not emit the promised energy. What to do if the soul asks for help in such anxious anticipation and strives for what is inside everyone - to the origins. After all, our ancestors lived the same joys and sorrows as we do. And the same experiences forced them to seek an answer to exciting questions in symbols and signs. And the most important thing is that they left their knowledge to us so that we could use their age-old power and proven action.
Pregnancy among all peoples is considered the secret of secrets. It is difficult to imagine a greater miracle than the birth of a new life. The woman becomes both vulnerable and incredibly strong. And so that nothing disturbs harmony and peace, our ancestors tried in every possible way to protect expectant mother. This is where amulets originate. At the same time, their main function - to protect and protect - has already expanded to the ability to attract what we want into our lives. Who, if not a woman who has been waiting for a long time for a baby, will understand how sometimes one gives up and loses faith in traditional methods and methods of medical care. Who else will be sympathetic to the fact that a leaf on your ficus tree has withered or that a fish in a dream swam right out of your hands again? It is in such moments, when despair is ready to take you captive, that warm and bright amulets from ancient times come to us.
One of the most common ways to help a child find his way to his parents was to depict the feminine principle.
Surviving elements women's clothing and everyday life are generously decorated with embroidered images of Lada, Mokosh or Rozhanitsa. There is practically no difference in their action; they all bring a happy life to children, harmony and peace to the family, and the joy of happy motherhood to desperate women. There are many embroidery patterns for women's amulet. If you see an image of a woman with her hands raised up, this is Makosh, but if her palms are down, this is Lada. Except female figure, as a symbol of fertility, trees, animals, birds and sun signs can also be placed on embroidery.
In addition to embroidered signs, a fairly common way to create security symbols was Slavic dolls amulets. They were made for almost every life situation. The “tasks” of the dolls included protecting the house from evil eyes, preserving acquired property, establishing harmony between spouses, and prosperous motherhood.
If the baby’s laughter did not appear within the walls of the house for a long time, relatives rushed to create a doll that symbolized pregnancy.

In making any doll, and especially amulets for pregnant women, it is important to follow strict customs:
- to create a talisman, choose a time on the waxing moon;
- there should be no men in the house during the process;
- the number of turns of thread and knots must be even;
- do not give your doll into the wrong hands, especially men’s - this way it can “lose” its power;
- Unlike embroidery, such a talisman can and should be made for yourself.
You should not associate the making of dolls with sinister rituals. If you take this process lightly, you can not only fill the product bright thoughts, but also to take a break from heavy thoughts for a while. And then, you see, unexpected joy will knock on the house.
No matter how you feel about different beliefs and philosophies, one thing is clear - everything that we create with our own hands with a positive attitude brings only good things into our lives. And what is connected with our roots also fills us with a special power, which cannot be explained with ordinary dry concepts.

Master class "Doll for pregnancy". Join...
The height of the doll is about 25 cm.
For work we will prepare:
- A wooden stick about 20-25 cm long (birch).
- Scraps of cotton fabric in white, pink, red colors and with a printed pattern in the form of small flowers, polka dots or checkered patterns.
- Some gray fabric (not bleached linen).
- cotton threads of red color (Iris or Floss in several folds would be nice).
- Decorative braid with imitation embroidery.
- A little birch bark or cardboard.
We wrap the prepared birch stick tightly with white cloth. The thickness of the stick is approximately 3 cm. If there is no wooden blank, then we simply twist the fabric tightly so that it retains its shape well in a vertical position. The open edges of the fabric can be carefully tucked inward or 2-3 threads can be pulled out along the edges. The resulting fringe will prevent the fabric from fraying further.
We tie the resulting body with red threads in three places: head, umbilical cord, legs.

Our doll's petticoat is long and is attached not at the waist, as we are accustomed to, but at the neck. To do this, take a red cotton fabric and measure the length of the skirt by attaching a piece of fabric to the base-body of the skirt. We measure from the bottom line to the neck + 1 cm. The width of the skirt is of your choice. I didn't do the side seam. All parts are hinged.
We don’t use scissors, we just tear off the flap the right size. Cotton fabric tears easily and always either along the grain or weft thread, depending on the direction in which you tear off the flap.
We gather the upper section of the skirt with a thread and fasten tightly to the neck line. The doll's body is open, the lower section of the skirt "looks" up. Then we lower the skirt down and distribute the folds evenly.
We make the upper skirt from printed chintz using the same principle as the lower one. The upper skirt should be shorter and the lower, red skirt should peek out from under it from above and below. This is clearly visible in the photo.

We make the chest from a strip of red fabric and a pair of cotton balls. In general, I don’t really like cotton wool, it clumps into clumps. It is more convenient to use synthetic padding or filler for soft toys. You can also use flax tow. We twist the parts of the chest together in a figure eight and so that this shape is not disturbed, we temporarily secure it with thread.
We secure the chest by tying the loose ends of the fabric from the back with a couple of knots.
target="_blank">https://image.jimcdn.com/app/cms/image/transf/dime...0/version/1409828500/image.jpg 320w" />
Remove the threads used to secure the twisted parts.

We fasten the apron under the chest in the same way as the skirts. For the apron I used unbleached linen and braid with imitation embroidery. You can decorate an apron hand embroidery protective theme ( ).

Making a pencil case for the baby. It symbolizes the womb in which the mother bears her child. To do this, take birch bark or, like me, a little cardboard, roll it into a tube. We secure the edges with red thread. The pencil case is attached to the mother's body using a thread symbolizing the umbilical cord. Two colors are used: red and blue/cyan, as feminine and masculine principles. We connect the threads in the form of a tourniquet or braid.

And now here is the most, I would say, jewelry work. Let's make a baby. To do this, take a small piece of cotton fabric white and red thread. The piece is very small, approximately 8*10 cm in size. It can be smaller, but you need to understand that the smaller the parts, the more difficult it is to process them.
In the process of working on a baby, it is important to remember that to highlight and secure the details of his body, we use a continuous thread directly from a skein or spool and only break it at the end, after tying knots.
Using several turns of thread we highlight the head. We also use cotton wool or padding polyester as filler. We carefully fold the open sections of the fabric inward and pull them slightly to the sides.

Without interrupting the thread, we form handles.

We also carefully fold the bottom cut of the fabric inward, slightly pull the ends to the sides and form the legs. Thus, our thread goes first from top to bottom, and then vice versa. We finally attach it to the neck or waist and tear it off.

This is how tiny it turns out!

We tie the baby in a pencil case to his mother, and tie the belt in front with a couple of knots.
A pencil pen is one of the types of securing the baby on the mother’s body. There are other ways. This depends on the places in our vast Rus' where the idea of creating such a talisman was born. You can make the apron part slightly longer than usual. Then the baby is placed under the apron as close to the chest as possible, as if wrapped in it, and then tightly secured with a belt around the waist. In such cases they say that the baby is hidden in the hem...
A little history...In Rus', children were traditionally worn at home and on the street in a hem (apron). Older girls carried younger children on their hips in this way. The saying “brought in the hem” has its roots in this custom. Nowadays mothers use a sling instead of a hem. () . There is another, very interesting version, although not entirely pleasant. INthe expression “brought in the lap” means “gave birth out of wedlock.”In Rus', the husband, the father of the child, was always present during the birth of a woman. He either helped in the birth or patiently waited for the baby to appear. It was the husband who immediately after birth took his little blood into his arms from the midwife. At the same time, the first thing that the child’s skin came into contact with was dad’s shirt. In Rus', any newly born baby was wrapped in his father's worn shirt or shirt - for good luck. And if a child was born “out of wedlock,” where will daddy’s shirt come from? Naturally, it was replaced by something from my mother. Probably my mother's hem. So it turns out that a child who was born without a father was brought into the house, to the family from the room where the birth took place, wearing a hem, and not in his father’s shirt. This is how, apparently, the expression “brought in the hem” stuck and has survived to this day.(
Not everyone finds it easy to get pregnant.
The ancient Slavs had various rituals for pregnancy.
A pregnancy amulet doll will come to our aid.
Its special feature is the Diaper doll in the belly of a pencil case.
The doll has no hands. A pregnant woman should not work, her task is to think about the child.
Let's look at some features of how to make a pregnant doll so that it works.
Making a doll for the growing moon. It would be good to choose a strong moon, look at lunar calendar day favorable for conception.
We tear fabrics by hand, no scissors, needles, or metal objects.
We snack on the threads.
The number of nodes is even, the number of windings is even, the number of crosses on the body is odd.
Clothing is not bright; a pregnant woman should not attract attention. A checkered skirt, a symbol of fertility, a symbol of a sown field. The color is better than blue tones.
There should be no men in the house during production.
Do not give the finished doll to ANYONE, especially men. The doll's power will be taken away through the hands.
The doll is strong, it is not recommended for anyone to do it. You can get pregnant yourself, or take on the problems of others. If you want to help a friend, help her make a doll HERSELF.
The band of the swaddle signifies the umbilical cord. We weave the belt from 2 threads, blue and red. Blue male power, red feminine power.
We tie it with a doll knot. We make a weak knot on one thread and pull another thread into the loop, tightening the knot. Break the threads with your teeth, leaving small ends.
Slavic rituals for pregnancy.
The ancient Slavs believed in spirits. Pregnancy was protected throughout the entire period.
The ancient Slavs strictly observed pregnancy rituals. They didn’t tell anyone about the pregnancy, not even my husband. When my wife got pregnant she dressed blue skirt in a cage, this was a sign to my husband. From then on, the woman was freed from housework.
There was a tradition of coming to a pregnant woman and asking her for forgiveness, even if she had not done anything wrong. So that the pregnant woman does not have any hidden grievances. Which can be passed on to the child.
A woman should hear only good things throughout her pregnancy, look only at beauty. Everything that a pregnant woman sees, hears and feels is passed on to the child.
Let's remember the fairy tale Snow White:
The queen saw the blood on the snow and thought. “How beautiful, red on white framed by a black window frame. It would be nice to give birth to a girl with red lips like blood and skin white like snow, hair black like the frame on the windows.”
And she gave birth to a girl with black hair, white skin and lips red as blood.
Pregnancy was hidden even in fairy tales in order to confuse evil forces. In fairy tales, protective actions were represented as evil.
The folk tale about the soldier and the ravens talks about miscarriages:
My daughter-in-law got pregnant and it’s time to give birth. The mother-in-law opened all the doors and doors. Crows flew in and took the child away at night. The daughter-in-law woke up, the child was gone.
A soldier appears. The soldier in fairy tales is intuition, instinct. The soldier closes the door and ties up the mother-in-law. The child is born.
The mother-in-law in the fairy tale, at first glance, harms the daughter-in-law. On the other hand, there was a very real tradition of opening valves and doors during childbirth, this helped the child to be born without obstacles. In this case, the child was born prematurely. The soldier, having closed the valve, essentially put the woman in labor for safekeeping. It was decided to break tradition in order to save the child.
The Tale of Tsar Saltan.
“The queen gave birth in the night, either a son or a daughter...”
An explicit ban on disclosing who was born. They also gave the messenger something to drink so that he wouldn’t talk on the way. Nowadays there is still a custom of saying about babies that they are not beautiful, so as not to jinx them.
The queen is put in a barrel and sent to a deserted island.
The ancient Slavs had a custom of sending people in a transitional state to the island.
Women during menstruation, girls from 12 years to adulthood. Children under 7 years of age went out into society only under their mother's skirt. The boy appeared in the male half after 7 years. His father had never seen him before.
Modern babies were covered with lace. You probably remember those lace corners on a blanket.
To protect the baby, you can also place a dot between the eyebrows, like Indian women.
There must be something bright on the hat to distract attention.
If you think the baby has been looked at poorly, kiss him between the eyebrows. Not a smack, but a pulling kiss.
It is quite common to see a pregnant woman supporting her belly. In fact, it is an instinctive desire to close the stomach.

Amulet doll for pregnancy
From time immemorial doll amulet for pregnancy was considered a mandatory attribute in a family where they are preparing to become parents. Our ancestors worshiped natural forces and elements. They believed that the crafted ones protected and warded off troubles and damage.
Particular importance was attached to the doll-amulet for pregnancy, which is called Woman in labor.
According to the rules, the pregnant woman herself sewed it. The main condition is that no man should either see the finished figurine or be present during its manufacture. All parts were wound with threads, since the use of sharp objects was prohibited. They kept the doll in the house.
Outwardly, she looks like a woman with a cross on her face. Sometimes she holds one or two bundles in her hands (symbol of a newborn child).
The pupa carries a charge positive energy, which has a beneficial effect on women and children.
The Slavs not only made amulets, they embroidered them. The woman in labor decorated shirts, pillows, and towels.
Amulet doll for pregnancy
Charms in the form of dolls protect a pregnant woman from all sorts of misfortunes that await her at every turn. Such figures are created without a face (without eyes, mouth and nose). This important point, since a figure with a face has a soul, it gains independence - its energetic strength and support are lost.
A doll made with love turned into a reliable protector. She protected from illness, mirrored damage and the evil eye, and helped to survive difficulties.
To make a real one, it takes a lot of time and effort. It was placed near the pregnant woman's bed.
How to make a doll for pregnancy with your own hands
In the times of our grandmothers and great-grandmothers, every woman mastered the art of creating pregnancy amulets dolls. It was believed that this was a real woman's responsibility.
Mothers passed on their skills to their daughters, and those passed on to theirs. And this is how folk traditions were built.
The talisman is made only from natural fabrics. All fabric elements are folded and tied with threads without using a needle or scissors. The figurine is dressed in a sundress embroidered with folk patterns; the head is decorated with a headscarf, under which a bunch of straw or grass is tucked. A beautiful apron is also tied on top.
It is believed that the color of the ribbons woven under the amulet scarf is associated with the future gender of the baby. If the family wants a boy, they use blue and light blue ribbons, if a girl wants red and pink ones.
While working, the woman reads prayers and incantations. Sometimes he sings songs.
Such a doll not only helps you get pregnant and have a successful birth - it is a reliable talisman against damage and the evil eye.
Where to store the amulet doll
Until childbirth, the amulet is kept near the woman. And when the baby is born, it is put away in a secluded place (chest or basket).
In the future, the doll is passed on to the next generation.
Sometimes they would take it out and give it to little girls to play with. This was done specifically to awaken their interest in motherhood and raising children.

Pregnancy - the greatest sacrament given to us by the Creator for the continuation of the human race - comes into the world new life. But not everyone can bear it and bring it safely into the light of God - many difficulties and dangers await a woman and her child in the womb. By making a talisman for a pregnant woman, every woman will be able to protect her child from troubles, and herself from unforeseen troubles.
From the most distant centuries, the art of creating a talisman has come to us to protect pregnancy and help oneself in difficulties with childbirth. This talisman is usually made with your own hands. The secret skill of creating this amulet has been passed down for generations. Women shared it with their daughters, and they, in turn, passed on the skill to their own children - this is how the ancient knowledge did not cease among the people, attracting an unknown force to help the human race.
- It is made independently, with your own hands, so that the amulet is endowed with the energy of the woman whose protector it will become.
- The mascot doll must be made from natural materials: fabric, straw, thread.
- It is not permissible to use synthetic or plastic parts.
- During manufacturing, the necessary prayers are read to endow the amulet with the necessary properties. For conception, prayers are used for the sending of such mercy, and for gestation and childbirth, others are used.
By making a security doll, you can solve a lot of problems. Pregnant women have never neglected their safety, so a traditional amulet is mandatory for any expectant mother. The doll was called Rozhanitsa - this is its most common name. Although there could be variations in different regions.
It is customary to make a talisman from white canvas, dressing the figurine in clothes similar to women’s. The amulet doll was supposed to have a bundle in its hands that resembled a baby. Usually a symbolic baby wrapped in swaddling clothes was placed in each hand different colors- blue and red, wanting to add both a girl and a boy to the family.
In addition to the traditional headscarf and sundress, the doll was dressed in an apron with embroidery, which encoded a wish for a new life. The amulet also carried information of protection for pregnant women, attracting the power of prayers or spells.
The ideal option is for a woman to embroider this apron herself, while reading a prayer designed to help with her specific problem. After all, a doll can be an assistant both in asking for the grace of pregnancy and in protecting the health of the mother and baby, sheltering them from the evil eye, a crooked word, from human envy and witchcraft damage.
The problem with conception can be solved with the help of a talisman
The amulet is made not only for pregnant women, but also for those women who cannot get pregnant. To solve this problem, you need to make a doll, weaving together with decorations and outfits the words of a prayer that will help solve the problem.
Remember that the inability to get pregnant can have a variety of reasons, and it is not always of a medical nature. It happens that a woman is simply jinxed, and medical luminaries, identifying a bunch of non-existent sores, do not get to the bottom of the most basic one, which is an obstacle to conception.
Among other things, a doll, by attracting the energy of happiness, can help and enhance the medical effect itself. After all, in the struggle for the birth of your future baby, all methods are justified. Even doctors advise not to stop at purely medical intervention, but to actively attract the energies of higher powers, amulets for pregnant women and prayers addressed to God. The combination of all means works better, because they complement each other with their strength.
The meaning of thoughts and desires
If embroidery is not entirely accessible to you as a skill, then when making a talisman, simply immerse yourself in thoughts about the fulfillment of your plans and, reading any prayer you know, make the Rozhanitsa. Be sure to place dolls of different-sex babies in each hand, even if you have conceived and want a child of a certain gender.
Don't block your destiny! Calling higher powers, ask for any gender of the child. After all, one of the reasons for infertility is a very common reluctance to have a boy if he is destined for fate. It happens that a mother stubbornly asks God to send her another child, not the one she is destined to raise. The Lord protects and tests such a woman, fearing that she will deprive her unwanted child of her love.
The meaning of embroidery
It’s very good if you have at least a minimal level of mastery of the art of embroidery, this will make your amulet stronger. You need to embroider a floral pattern on the apron of the future talisman with your own hands. Any floral, bright, curly design is welcome. It will symbolize the awakening of new life and its active flowering. Bright colors are a symbol of the health of the future child.
A good luck charm for pregnancy must contain symbols of procreation, growth and flowering - this is a must. Therefore, all floral patterns are welcome in the fabrics used for it.
The meaning of prayer
Prayer seems to encode us to perform a certain task: conception, pregnancy, or protection from difficult childbirth. Therefore, when making a talisman doll, read prayers addressed to any saint whom your heart prefers. Usually these are saints and patrons from the pantheon Orthodox Church: Matrona of Moscow, Ksenia of Petersburg, Nikolai the Wonderworker. It is customary for them to offer prayers for the creation of miracles and help in solving women's problems.
Prayer to Matrona
“Oh, blessed mother Matrona, we resort to your intercession and tearfully pray to you. As you who have great boldness in the Lord, pour out a warm prayer for your servants, who are in deep spiritual sorrow and asking for help from you. Truly is the word of the Lord: ask, and it will be given to you, and again: even if two of you take counsel upon the earth, whatever you ask, it will be given to you from My Father who is in Heaven. Hear our groanings and report them to the throne of the Master, and where you stand before God, the prayer of a righteous man can do much before God. May the Lord not completely forget us, but look down from the heights of heaven on the sorrow of His servants and bestow the fruit of the womb for something useful. Truly, God wants, so do the Lord to Abraham and Sarah, Zechariah and Elizabeth, Joachim and Anna, pray with him. May the Lord God do the same for us out of His mercy and ineffable love for mankind. Blessed be the name of the Lord from now on and forever. Amen".
When you manage to get pregnant, do not part with your intercessor until the very end of childbirth. The doll will become your constant guardian throughout your pregnancy. It is a wonderful amulet not only for pregnant women, but also for the child in the womb. In addition, it is customary to take it with you during childbirth, so as not to have difficulties and problems with childbirth.
The pupa is the invisible guardian of your child in the womb
Even if you managed to get pregnant without problems, then Rozhanitsa will become a good caretaker for your baby growing in the womb. The main manufacturing rules remain unchanged.
- Naturalness of materials.
- Self-production.
- Symbols of children of different sexes in the hands of a mascot doll.
- Prayer to help.
Remember that you already have a living organism inside you that understands and hears the voice of the expectant mother. She must love and wait for the arrival of any baby, be it a girl or a boy. The Mother Doll, having in her arms symbols of protection for both sexes, will patronize every baby.
A mother’s lack of desire to give birth to a child whose gender does not match the one already conceived can turn into a big disaster. This conceals huge problems both for pregnancy itself and for the future development of the baby. Even homosexuality is the result of a mother’s negative attitude and reluctance to give birth to a boy. As a result, the born man, subconsciously wanting to please his mother, denies his masculine nature.
Therefore, when making a talisman, be sure to place children of both sexes in the hands of the doll. This will guarantee the safety of your conceived child. The woman in labor, like an angel, will protect him from every evil eye and envious word, and ward off troubles and health problems. And in the future, the born child will become the joy of its parents, and not a source of problems and worries.
Important! You can protect yourself from the evil eye and the bad influence of envious people during pregnancy by adding decorative details to your talisman. The doll, being your constant companion, can transform depending on the problems that worry you. Add to her image new element, while reading a prayer of protection, and your talisman will acquire new abilities to protect you.
Any prayers are allowed, according to your beliefs. The most common amulets for pregnant women are supplemented with a prayer to the Mother of God. After all, she is the invisible patron of all women, especially those carrying a child in the womb.
The doll is your talisman to make childbirth easier
If your amulet doll, made with love, stayed with you throughout your pregnancy and was a faithful guard against the evil eye and other misfortunes, and helped you bear a healthy child, then do not part with it during childbirth. When you feel that the hour of the baby’s birth is close, do not forget to take your Mother of Birth with you, so that nothing overshadows the birth of the long-awaited child.
Note! If you keep the amulet on your stomach during contractions, the pain will be much easier to bear.
This doll not only helps you get pregnant safely and protect your pregnancy, but also has a positive effect on the process of childbirth. By attracting higher powers, your assistant will ease the mother’s pain, take problems away from the baby, making childbirth a pleasant memory for you.
Be sure to leave the doll next to the baby after birth. Until the baby’s aura has become stronger, he needs help from the evil eye and unkind, envious wishes. This amulet is usually given place of honor at the head of the newborn. Then the energy of your protector will patronize the child until he gets stronger
