A child’s speech is directly related to his development motor activity fingers. Therefore, “finger activity” must be developed from a very early age.
Finger training can begin as early as 6-7 months. Babies at this age receive a hand massage. Each finger is kneaded separately and the entire hand as a whole. The massage lasts 2-3 minutes. It must be done daily.
From the age of 9 months it is already possible to perform a variety of active movements for the fingers. The complexity of the exercise directly depends on the child’s development level.
Playing with your baby's fingers contributes not only to speech development. But they also bring joy to the baby by communicating with people close to him. So, for example, a mother can take the baby, sit her on her lap and start playing with his fingers. You can simply bruise your fingers while doing a massage. You can tickle your palm, clap your hands. From all this, the child will not only receive a lot of pleasant “tactile” pleasures, but will also have a pleasant and useful time with his mother.
Will become very interesting finger games, if accompanied by poems or songs. During games, an adult will need to comment on the game. It is best to do this in poetic form, because poems are always very interesting for children and are easy for them to remember.
But an important role in the game is played by the intonation of the spoken poem. And, of course, adults should approach the issue of intonation with special care. For very young children, the main thing is that the poems are told in a kind, gentle voice. For older children (3-5 years old), not only the intonation of the voice, but also facial expressions during the story play a big role.
If your baby is 2-3 years old, then games with “ finger puppets" You can put a paper cap on each finger and draw various faces on it using a felt-tip pen. In such games you can show your imagination and stage a whole performance with different characters.
Stages of preparing finger games:
- First, the adult himself shows and tells the text of the game. At this time, the child simply observes the process.
- Then the adult recites the verse and, guiding the child’s hands, performs all the movements with the baby. The baby helps the adult perform the movements.
- An adult and a child perform the same movements together, the adult with his own hands, the child with his own hands. In this case, the text is spoken by an adult.
- The text is spoken by an adult. The child performs the movements himself. An adult can help him a little.
- The child tries to do everything himself - and pronounces the text and makes movements with his hands. If a child has forgotten something, an adult can remind him of the movements or text.
You should not play games if you or your child have cold hands. Warm your hands first. You can put them in warm water or simply rub your palms.
In some games (especially those new to the baby), there may be characters or objects (concepts) that are incomprehensible to the child. First, tell your baby about them in detail so that the game becomes interesting and does not mislead the baby.
If the child is under 1.5 years old, then the games should take place as gymnastics or simply a demonstration of the game.
Together with the child finger games can be played when the child is 1.5 years old.
During games, you can come up with various scenarios. It will be very good if, during the game, you tickle the child’s palm or “run” along it.
During the game, facial expressions are very important. Try to use expressive facial expressions.
The intonation of the text you speak should also be expressive. Make pauses where they should be in the text. Depending on what is happening in the story, speak either quietly or loudly.
For the initial stage of finger games, you can choose only 2-3 games. New games must be introduced gradually, replacing old ones with new ones.
If a child makes mistakes, try not to pay attention to them. Praise him often for his successes. The game should be fun and enjoyable.
Almost all finger games are based on folklore. Rhymes and nursery rhymes are remembered very quickly by a child. While playing with your fingers, you can show your imagination, come up with various scenarios and bring them to life by demonstrating a small performance “on your fingers.”
We advise you to study several simple finger games in pictures that are interesting even for the smallest children.
