Dry skin Ayurveda. Ayurveda: How to choose the right oil for different skin types
Not all face creams are created equal. Let's talk exclusively about healthy, natural and environmentally friendly face and body care. Care according to the laws.
Today many industrial products(especially those containing fragrances, dyes and petroleum jelly) due to their overly dense structure are not able to penetrate the skin tissue to the required depth, which means they are useless and do not fully cope with the tasks of nutrition and hydration. Unabsorbed remnants of cream or lotion leave a film on the surface of the skin: as a result, the skin does not breathe.
But essential oils do not leave such a film. Therefore, Ayurvedic doctors recommend nourishing the skin with oils that naturally have moisturizing, bactericidal properties and are rich in nutrients. They penetrate deeply into the skin and rejuvenate the cells of the deepest layers.
Moisturize, nourish and tone
Let's start in the morning. In the morning, it is useful to wipe your face with an ice cube - this is both a massage and moisturizing at the same time. You can make ice yourself: freeze decoctions of chamomile, linden, calendula, as well as coffee or green tea. However, if your skin is prone to peeling, it is better to avoid ice treatments.
Next comes the turn of nourishing oils. For beauty you will need not just essential oil in its pure form, but nourishing oil - a mixture of base oil and essential oil.
Ghi (ghee) is ideal as a base oil for all skin types. For sensitive skin- apricot kernel oil, for aging skin - avocado oil, for dry and dehydrated skin - wheat germ oil or olive oil. Moreover, the oil is consumed much more economically than the cream - a small drop is enough. If the skin is dry, apply oil to damp skin, if oily, apply oil to dry skin.
Owners of mature or problem skin You can add liposomes to the mixture of base and essential oils (Q10 - look in pharmacies or online stores). Liposomes are a kind of transport that delivers “building materials” to skin cells and also perfectly moisturizes the skin. The aforementioned Ghee oil (animal lipid) also does an excellent job of this.
The famous teacher of kundalini yoga, Maria Kalinina, at 43 years old, looks like 30: in the last ten years she has radically changed her diet, and instead of cosmetics she uses only natural tonics (herbal tinctures, rose water), decoctions, ice, Ayurvedic masks and baths, Ghi butter as a face and body cream.
Liquid gold
Let's focus on ghee butter. According to Ayurveda, the fiery energy of the sun is concentrated in ghee.
Ghee butter contains fatty acids that are 8% less saturated than other edible fats. Thanks to this, Ghi is easily accepted and absorbed by our body - it is recommended to cook food with it (by the way, it is very tasty). Ghee contains antioxidants (help prevent lipid oxidation, which causes atherosclerosis and DNA damage in cells), vitamin E, and is the only edible oil containing vitamin A.
After oil treatments for the face and body in the bathhouse, the skin becomes elastic and smooth, and all small wounds and cracks heal on the second day, peeling goes away.
Another “golden” product is honey. It is unique in that it easily penetrates into the smallest pores of the skin, nourishes it and regulates the water balance, so that the face remains fresh and wrinkles do not rush to remind you of themselves.
Ayurveda in the bathroom
Here are some tried and tested Ayurvedic skin care recipes. All products are prepared at home from natural ingredients. Almost all masks are suitable for frequent use (for example, every other day), since they are completely natural. In addition, these masks can and should be applied to the area around the eyes. And they have practically no contraindications - only allergy sufferers should be careful.
Face rejuvenation masks
You will need: 1 tbsp. l. castor oil, 1 tsp. ghee oil, 1-2 drops of iodine, 1 tbsp. l. honey
Drop iodine into a clean jar, then add other ingredients and mix. Store the resulting mixture in the refrigerator. Apply to skin for 2 hours 2-3 times a week. The skin will become tightened, elastic, and age spots, wrinkles will be smoothed out.
You will need: 1 tsp. olive oil or ghee oil, 2 drops essential oil geranium, 2 drops of vitamin E (available in pharmacies). Apply the mask in the same way as the previous one.
You will need: 0.5 tsp. turmeric (powder) and 1 tbsp. l. ghee oil Mix, warm in your hands and apply to skin. Leave for 15-20 minutes and then rinse with warm water.
Don't be scared orange color turmeric - this miracle spice is difficult to wash off from clothes, but the powder is washed off perfectly from the skin.
Moisturizing, softening and nourishing mask
You will need: 1 tsp. olive oil, 1 tsp. honey, and a pinch of turmeric. Apply the mask to cleansed skin of the face and neck for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with water.
Or: 1 tsp. ghee butter, 1 tsp. honey and a pinch of turmeric. Before applying to the face, warm the oil-honey mixture in your hands.
Sunburn mask
Ghi oil is an excellent remedy for relieving skin inflammation, moisturizing and nourishing it. Why in folk recipes Is it recommended to lubricate the skin with kefir or sour cream after burns? The whole secret is in those very valuable animal lipids, close to the components of our cells. The skin accepts them perfectly. And ghee oil is simply a concentrate of these valuable substances in combination with vitamins A and D.
To revive the skin after burns, you need to take a little ghee oil (you can add a drop of geranium, calendula, patchouli, rose oil to it), apply a thick layer of the mask to the skin and leave overnight. In the morning, rinse and apply moisturizer.
Note: nourishing creams apply to dry skin, and all moisturizers - to damp skin.
Oil cheat sheet
Essential oils can be added to face or body cream (1-2 drops, no more!), or to face masks. Moreover, for each skin type there is its own oil:
- for dry skin: anise, rose, sandalwood, orange, chamomile, patchouli, geranium;
- for oily skin: grapefruit, lemon balm, lemon, rosemary, cloves, lemongrass, cypress;
- for mixed skin: ylang-ylang, mint, neroli, rosewood;
- for aging skin: sandalwood, rose, neroli, rosewood, incense, pine, myrrh.

Leather. True, our skin changes throughout our lives depending on climate, nutrition, lifestyle, and external conditions. Each skin type has certain problems that are unique to a specific dosha. Vata-type skin dry, tender, thin, low-porous, cold to the touch. When Vata is in balance, the skin is bright and elegant. Out of balance – too dry, rough and flaky. Possible problems in people with vata skin: due to excessive dryness and thinness skin signs of early aging may appear. If we add here poor digestion and constipation (characteristic of Vata), then already at the age of 20-30 a person may have an unhealthy, serous appearance. The most common skin diseases are eczema and skin fungus. The Vata person is characterized by nervousness, excitement, fear, and poor sleep. This all aggravates the problem of unhealthy appearance.
Pitta skin– clean, soft, warm, medium thickness. When Pitta is in balance, the face looks simply wonderful, with a golden glow emanating from within. The skin is often pinkish or reddish, with a lot of freckles and moles.
Possible problems for people with pitta skin type:
Despite all the beauty of the skin (when pitta is in balance), this type is susceptible to the following diseases: various skin irritations, rosacea, acne, liver spots, disturbed pigmentation. So the pitta type has a strong fire, these people do not tolerate heat and sun very well, and they are more exposed to the negative effects of the sun than other types, which accumulate year after year.
Skin problems in pitta types are aggravated by emotional stress, especially with hidden rage, indignation, and frustration.
Kapha skin– kind of thick, oily, soft and cold to the touch. When kapha is well balanced, the skin looks like white porcelain in the moonlight. Due to their thickness, skin cells contain more collagen and connective tissue. This allows wrinkles to appear much later than in Vata and Pitta constitutions.
Possible problems for people with kapha skin - such as: with unbalanced kapha, large pores appear, excessive oiliness, wet eczema, blackheads, pimples, swelling. There is also a tendency to fungal infections.
How to help your skin?
Vata type you need to monitor constant hydration (outside and inside the body). The diet should include a sufficient amount of oils. Watch for the predominance of sour, salty and sweet as they bring Vata into balance. Avoid dry foods. Try to dress warmly when walking in cold and windy weather (which increases vata).
When choosing cosmetics, be careful - try not to use strong cleansers, including alcohol-based ones. This dries out already dry skin. Try to avoid stress, get enough sleep (Vata needs longer rest than other constitutions).
Try to do a full body oil massage with plenty of sesame oil. Sesame oil has warming and weight-bearing properties. A lighter oil, but also warming, is Mustard Oil. It is in 2nd place in preference for cotton wool. You can also use almond oil and apricot kernel oil. The oil can be infused with various herbs that reduce vata (cinnamon, ginger, calamus, etc.). The massage should be gentle, but quite strong, although Vata is the most sensitive type to pain. In general, stick to it.
Pitta type you need to cool and nourish the skin. This skin is the most sensitive and prone to irritation. Follow the anti-Pitt regime that we have already discussed. Avoid hot and spicy foods, especially pepper different types. Bitter and sweet fruits are best. Melons, pears, mangoes are good. Include plenty of coconut in the form of nut pulp and coconut milk. Drinking plenty of water helps flush out pitta impurities (although, for example, Chinese medicine doctors claim that it weakens the kidneys).
Since the pitta type tolerates the sun worst of all and is most exposed to its effects, sunbathing is not recommended, as are hot baths and steam baths for the face. cosmetic procedures. Cool the skin well by blotting with a sponge soaked in a mixture of milk and rose water (rose water is sold in Indian stores - in Canada).
Try not to arouse pitta and express anger or jealousy on every occasion. Avoid stressful situations, because negative emotions understand pitta and therefore worsen the skin condition. This is best done while relaxing (not extreme) in nature, doing yoga and meditation.
Pitta is also soothed by the smell of roses - you can use an aroma lamp or incense. Anointing the Ajna chakra (3rd eye area) with sandalwood oil also calms Pitta.
Kapha type you need to constantly cleanse the skin (outside and inside), since due to its thickness (relative) and oiliness, Kapha-type skin is prone to accumulating toxins in the subcutaneous layer. Follow an anti-kapha regimen - avoid heavy, difficult-to-digest foods such as fatty meats, cheeses and thick desserts. Eat green leafy vegetables and any type of cabbage as much as possible. To increase (digestive fire), which is low in kapha, use more spices. Before eating, it’s good to eat a spoonful of grated lemon juice sprinkled with it.
Kapha-type skin is cleansed well by opening the pores with a warm bath. Steam baths with herbs also work great. Dry massage works best for kapha, which also opens pores, increases blood circulation and speeds up the removal of toxins (this has also been discussed). Follow the kapha lifestyle – i.e. Don't be lazy, but move. This will help the skin.
So, external the sign of freely flowing ojas is radiance.
But these qualities describe only the natural “inclinations” of the skin to a first approximation; Usually the effect of the dominant dosha is not so pronounced. For example, pitta-type skin feels moister and warmer to the touch than vata-type skin, which is cooler, rougher and drier; and kapha skin is slightly smoother and oilier than pitta or vata.
When the doshas are in balance, skin of all types appears clear and radiant. When the doshas are unbalanced, the innate tendencies manifest themselves more sharply and can lead to serious problems: for example, dry eczema can appear in such cases on dry skin, true eczema on sensitive skin, and weeping eczema on oily skin. This rule applies not only to skin diseases, but to all diseases and disorders in general.
Articles on the topic
UPD December 2015:This article is very old, 5 years ago, at that time I was not going to tell anything about psychosomatic diseases, only about Ayurveda. But, unfortunately, it doesn’t work.
It removes fine wrinkles as if by hand (as confirmed by these friends who replaced expensive creams with ghee). Well - sometimes some kind of vegetable and fruit mask, from what is at hand.
It is unknown what and why began to manifest itself on your physical level.
And if you get too hung up on it, it won’t do any good.
Only complete letting go of the situation “Come what may, such is fate” helps.
You stop subconsciously “solving” your problem, and she won’t need to remind you of herself.
But this, of course, is a very superficial explanation.
Everything may lie much deeper.
If it doesn’t hurt and doesn’t degenerate, then don’t worry.
Develop yourself, you will be interesting to people in any form.
Not a single ideal beauty can compete with you.
Believe me!.

Lina, thank you. Yes, I'm obsessed with these spots, you're right. I'll try to lower the situation, maybe something will change. Thanks for the answer.

Hello Lina,
I remember you once promised to talk about Him (to talk about skin problems). I think this would be interesting to many readers. I bought a jar here and planned to drink it, but it says “mask powder” on it... Just like that, you have to be more careful! Or grass and grass, what’s outside, what’s inside? I will be grateful for your answer
-
Zhanna,
As for the stories about what was promised earlier, I’m taking a lot back. She declared recklessly without calculating her strength :)
On the contrary, I am already removing a lot from the site (more or less specific advice). There are so many letters that I physically don’t have time to answer all the questions: “I read on your website and am now receiving treatment on the Internet (this term is already in use), tell me, what should I do?”
The fact that you bought “mask powder” - I wrote several times in different comments (it’s clear that this can no longer be found on the blog) - so, at least somehow they will buy this powder, everyone is greedy for beauty. And if they write that for oral administration, someone else will be poisoned (as they think) - who will be responsible? And oral administration is not indicated for everyone.
Therefore, out of harm’s way, they write “for cosmetic purposes.” And this is the powder of an ordinary herb, like our nettle, that grows everywhere.
Grind it - use it. I don’t think anything could have been mixed into your “mask powder”.
Usually they add cheaper additives to an expensive drug. Neem is nowhere cheaper. Hindu weed.

Hello, I have often come across the idea that atopic dermatitis is a consequence of pitta being out of balance. But why does the skin dry out then? After all, dryness is a sign of excess vata. What is your opinion on this matter?
-
Richat,
The article is very old, 5 years ago, at that time I was not going to talk about psychosomatic diseases, only about Ayurveda. But, unfortunately, it doesn’t work. And I don’t have time to add updates to old posts, so all the answers can be found in the comments.
Somehow it turned out that most of the questions about skin were asked in other posts.
I have now collected all the links about skin diseases, which are almost always a manifestation of psychosomatics. The first links are the answer to your question, the rest are to understand the cause of such problems, and so that it is collected in one place.
In general, these diseases cannot be treated with conventional medications; in psychosomatics, the rules of dosha imbalance do not work, therefore, use whatever brings relief until you figure out the cause of your problem (on your own or with a psychotherapist) and get it out of your head ). Or maybe this reason will go away on its own (for you, for example, the reason why you are worried and “itching” will become unimportant).
Neurodermatitis, atopic dermatitis, diathesis, eczema
“How I cured psoriasis”
This is what relates to the psychosomatics of the skin. There is a whole list of other psychosomatic diseases.

Thank you very much, Lina!

What do you recommend reading about psychosomatics? Very interested. I’ve never heard or thought about it. Maybe my neurodermatitis can really be removed.
thanks for the site. very informative.
the most sane site on the topic of health improvement.

Hello!
Tell me please! My hair always quickly became oily, although I don’t wash it often, red pimples periodically appear on the skin, often deep under the skin, and it seems that the post-acne marks do not go away at all. The skin is often dry except in the summer season (on the face and body), in summer the skin is oily on the face. Hands are dry in winter. The heels are always dry and starting to crack. The stool is overripe banana, very rarely constipation.
Regarding digestive disorders, from the signs you listed in that article, sometimes after eating legumes (especially in combination with potatoes) - increased gas formation, bloating. Dry skin - yes. Weakness in the body, weakness of muscles, ligaments and bones are my congenital signs. Low blood pressure, as I understand it, is a consequence of my thinness. Parameters 160/43.5.
According to all tests, the character is typical of Vata Prakriti, not counting oily hair and acne. Do I understand correctly that Vikriti in my case is Pitta Vata? And do you need to increase Kapha, follow an anti-Kapha diet?
-
Yana,
“The skin is often dry except in the summer season (on the face and body), in the summer the skin is oily on the face. Hands are dry in winter.”
- these are common occurrences. During periods of dryness in nature (Vata time, autumn, and in some continental areas and winter), the dryness of the environment increases sharply. “Like increases by like and decreases by opposite.” At this time, everyone needs type care.
Dry skin in cold weather is aggravated by the fact that most people live in very dry rooms. When heating, rarely do anyone have humidifiers in their home. And with them life is completely different. And sleep too.
“According to all tests, the character is typical Vata Prakriti”
–« »
“Do I understand correctly that Vikriti in my case is Pitta Vata?”
- I cannot tell you this, since I do not define vikriti in the comments from the words of readers. Anything is possible, and you could calculate correctly. But still, at such a weight, the first dosha will be vata deficiency; it always predominates at low weight.
“And you need to increase Kapha, follow an anti-Kapha diet?”

Good afternoon
Please tell me, I’m just starting to study Ayurveda, there is so much information, it’s difficult at first.
I have problems with the gastrointestinal tract, often constipation, stagnation of bile, sometimes belching, gastritis, if I drink a glass of wine, I immediately feel a burning sensation in the stomach. But the main problem is the skin; there are always small rashes on the body, like acne. That is, not on the face, but on the body.
According to the test, I have Pitta-Vata dosha. I started taking triphala for the gastrointestinal tract, because I thought it was a good cleanser, I had taken neem before (but my periods disappeared while taking it, I stopped drinking because I was afraid of the delay.
Maybe it’s not from him, but since I don’t understand much yet, I decided to stop taking it). Against the background of neem, the body cleared up a little, but there were still rashes.
And now, after 2 weeks of taking triphala, it’s just terrible - my whole body is covered in acne, just the body, not the face, the face is clean, the pimples sometimes itch, but they look like acne. What could this be connected with? I don’t stop drinking, I thought it would go away, but the rashes are getting bigger and bigger every day and I’m afraid that soon there won’t be any living space left on my body.
Please help me figure it out - could this be from taking triphala? Maybe she increased my already high pita and this is the reaction? What is the best thing to do now to make the rash go away?
Thank you.
-
Catherine,
If you are “just starting to study Ayurveda,” then your conclusion “according to the test, I have Pitta-Vata dosha” may not be entirely true.
-
Good evening, I have had rosacea for 5 months now.

Ayurvedic skin type is not constant and does not necessarily coincide with our dosha as a whole. The skin tends to change depending on the season, health status, diet... Say, in winter or under the influence of stress, it becomes drier and vata begins to predominate in it. But the hot summer sun makes her more sensitive and brings her closer to the pitta type.
“Our task is to diagnose the Ayurvedic type of your skin based on symptoms and, in accordance with this, provide it with care that would help balance the dominant dosha,” says Mohammedali, Ph.D., Doctor of Law, Center for Yoga and Ayurveda “Kerala”. - So, if there is an excess of vata, warming, soothing, moisturizing and nourishing masks. Comfort will be restored to Pitta skin by cooling, soothing and hypoallergenic cosmetics. Kapha-type skin - what distinguishes it increased fat content, porosity, tendency to inflammation - thorough cleansing, peeling and drying procedures will help.”
Secret 2. Only apply to your skin what you can eat.
Skin is the most large organ our body, and everything we put on it gets inside and becomes part of us. Therefore, Ayurveda recognizes only edible products in skin care of any type. It could be various types flour (mung bean, chickpea, corn), bee products (honey, propolis), dairy products (milk, sour cream, butter), natural oils(sesame, sunflower, olive, shea, coconut), spices (turmeric, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg) and medicinal herbs (coltsfoot, sage, yarrow).
Secret 3. Use ubtan to cleanse and nourish your skin
“This powder, made from cereal and legume flour, ground medicinal herbs and spices, is multifunctional. cosmetic product, - speaks Tatiana Patratskaya Ayurvedic consultant and healthy image life, aromatherapist, coach of the girls’ school “Milamar”. — It cleanses and deeply nourishes the skin, saturating it with beneficial macro- and microelements. Dilute the ubtan with hot water to the consistency of thick sour cream, apply to the skin, massage and rinse with warm water. In this simple procedure, it will replace soap, peeling and mask.” You can buy ready-made ubtan at an Ayurvedic goods store - it is different for each dosha - or you can make it yourself. There are a lot of cooking recipes. Classic ubtan is based on chickpea flour, herbs containing saponins, for example, licorice, shikakai, soapwort (they will add soapiness to the mixture), as well as medicinal plants, which must be selected depending on the needs of the skin. For dry, violet, lavender, rose, and sweet clover are suitable. For sensitive people - nettle, kelp. Oily skin rosemary, basil, sage are useful. Turmeric is also a traditional component of ubtan... And then the field for experimentation opens up. The composition can be supplemented with medicinal clay, oils (essential and base), alum, nuts, and yogurt. In general, the proportions of ubtan are as follows: 40% flour (base), 30% herbs (care), 20% additional components (alum, clay).
Secret 4. Use sesame oil for any skin
They are widely used in Ayurvedic care. You need to choose them taking into account your dosha. Otherwise, they will not only bring no benefit, but may also cause harm. Heavy warming oils are ideal for vata - avocado, shea, sweet almond, wheat germ. For pita - on the contrary, with cooling properties: sunflower, coconut, rose, sandalwood. Mustard and corn oils are considered kapha oils - also warming, but lighter. And only one oil, sesame oil, is universal: it balances all three doshas. Sesame oil can be used to care for any skin, at any time and for a wide variety of procedures.
“Try to do oiling with it - an extremely useful procedure that removes toxins, soothes, nourishes the skin and even prolongs life,” says Tatyana Patratskaya. — Warm a little oil in a bottle under running hot water and apply to clean scalp, then face and body. Movements should be longitudinal, and in the area of the abdomen and joints, circular, clockwise. After 15-20 minutes, remove the remaining oil using ubtan (which we talked about above) or ground oatmeal. Wash your hair with mild shampoo.” Do oiling as often as you want, preferably in the morning.
Secret 5. Cleanse vata-type skin with honey and nourish it with cream and cottage cheese
“The best cleanser for vata-type skin is honey,” says Dr. Mohammedali. — While cleansing, it does not dry, but softens and moisturizes the skin. Apply honey to your face before going to bed as a mask for 10 minutes, and then rinse with cool water. Massage with cream and curd will help reduce the dryness of cotton wool. Mix these components in equal proportions, apply to the face and massage with soft circular movements for 5 minutes. Then wash your face with cool water.” This procedure can be done every other day.
Secret 6. Exfoliate kapha skin with vegetable scrubs
According to Ayurveda, best peelings for kapha skin - vegetables: they perfectly balance this dosha. Here's just one of the options. Mix 1/3 cup each of grated carrots, cucumber and zucchini. Add 3 tbsp. l. mung bean or chickpea flour (you can grind them yourself) and 3 tbsp. l. a base oil suitable for kapha skin, such as mustard. In summer it’s good to mix a little into the composition cosmetic clay: It has a drying property. In winter it is better to do without it. Or use all-season multani mitti (available in Ayurvedic stores). Apply the resulting mixture to damp skin of the face and body with circular massaging movements and rinse with warm water. “For kapha skin types, it is recommended to wash them frequently with warm water using chickpea or mung bean flour,” says Dr. Mohammedali. - This reduces the activity of the sebaceous glands. But facial massage is contraindicated for her: it can increase kapha, which is already in excess.”
Secret 7. Wash with fruits
Any overripe fruits and berries - bananas, pears, peaches, strawberries, raspberries - will perfectly replace ordinary ones detergents. Plant fibers and fruit acids effectively remove dead cells and impurities, and vitamins and minerals saturate the skin with substances beneficial to it. Simply mash the fruit to a paste and apply to damp skin. After 10 minutes, rinse the mixture with warm water. Are you used to washing with a massage sponge? Its analogue can be made from the peels of oranges or grapefruits. Cut the fruit into 2 parts and squeeze out the juice. And massage the skin of the whole body with the inner side of the peel with the remaining membranes and fibers.
Ecology of health and beauty: There is no one skin type that is better than others; each has its own characteristics. Skin problems...
When the doshas are balanced, any skin type looks clear and radiant with health. There is no one type that is better than the others; each has its own characteristics.
Skin problems develop based on the natural tendencies of a particular dosha when that dosha becomes out of balance.
Skin types according to Ayurveda
Vata dosha skin
In normal condition:
- Thin, with small pores, has dark color and whitish or grayish tint
- Cool to touch, especially on palms and soles; dryish, may have flaky areas
- Sensitive to climate change
For vata dosha imbalance:
- Loses tone and shine
- Rough areas and cracks appear
- Dry skin rashes
- Calluses and corns
- Dry eczema may occur
Pitta dosha skin
In normal condition:
- Light, with a peach or copper tint, often has freckles
- Warm, with a soft shine
- Sensitive to various substances and substances
If pitta dosha is imbalanced:
- Has rashes, inflammation, itching
- Oily T-zone
- Premature wrinkles
- Yellow pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, excess oily skin
- Loss of natural pigment
Kapha dosha skin
In normal condition:
- Thick, wet, pale
- Soft, cool to the touch
- Has good tone, ages at a normal pace
If kapha dosha is imbalanced:
- Dull, sluggish, with clogged pores
- Pores are enlarged
- Black spots or large white pustules, cystic formations
- Thick sebaceous discharge
If you don't know exactly what skin type you have, look at your pores:
- Small and thin are cotton wool doshe,
- wide and large pores belong to the skin kapha type,
- and enlarged pores in the T-zone, but the rest are small - this is a sign pitta skin.
Ayurveda: oils for skin care
Ayurvedic skin care formulas use herbs to nourish and rejuvenate the skin in various ways: freshly cut parts, juices, teas, dried leaves or powders, liquid extracts.
At the same time, pure liquid essences or essential oils are the most concentrated and purified products. Their molecular density is so low that they are able to penetrate deep into the skin, reaching the cellular level to nourish tissue and help cells grow. As a result, their effectiveness is 60-70% higher than when the whole plant is used.
Because Because plants have their own “immune system,” essential oils like these have natural antibacterial, antiseptic, antifungal, and preservative properties—all of which help heal wounds and eliminate infections on the skin.
Pure essences have a very powerful effect. To obtain 30 grams of pure rose essence, almost 82 kg of petals are needed. Small bottles of essential oils are available for sale - but usually the pure essence is diluted in a base liquid or oil. The quality of these products varies, so you usually have to try different ones until you find the right brand.
Essential oils in their pure form are not used on the skin. because They have a very strong effect, so they are diluted in a base oil before use.
For example, if you bought oil tea tree, then on the bottle it is usually written that the composition includes tea tree oil and sunflower or soybean oil - the latter, in this case, are the base oils that were just mentioned.
In general, base oils (or carrier oils) also have beneficial properties, which complement the beneficial effects of essential oils and herbs.
Which base oil to choose?
Look for natural, organic oil that has not been heat-treated and contains no chemicals, preservatives, or solvents. Ideally, this should be “first cold pressed” oil.(such as extra virgin olive oil).
A great option is ghee.(pure ghee). It has good penetrating power and also soothes the skin. You can make it yourself with high quality butter(from cow's milk, or rather, cream).
At the same time, there are oils for each dosha.
Vata dosha: dry skin
Carrier oil (base oil): sesame, avocado oil, olive, almond, oil walnut, castor, ghee.
Essential oil: cardamom oil, jasmine, geranium, lemon, vanilla, neroli.
Pitta dosha: sensitive skin
Base oil: almond, coconut, sunflower, olive, baked.
Essential oil: sandalwood, cumin oil, mint, camphor, ylang-ylang.
Kapha dosha: oily skin
Carrier oils: mustard, almond, oil grape seeds, safflower.
Essential oils: eucalyptus, patchouli, clove, lavender, bergamot.
Dosage
Facial oil: 20-25 drops of essential oil per 30 ml of base oil.
For the body: 10-15 drops of essential oil per 30 ml of base oil.
Apply to damp skin.
Advice: Solid and liquid soap, one way or another, dries out the skin. Therefore, instead of soap, you can use a special Ubtan paste - it can be made at home.
It's very simple: mix water and moong dal flour (you can buy it at an Indian goods store or in oriental shops). Choose the proportions yourself, just the paste should be moderately thick. You can add sandalwood powder, rose petal powder or neem leaves powder to the paste.
